  • Theonlymoo, you are so right, one of the best albums ever produced of any kind of music ever.

  • desintegration is the best album ever facination street musical genius

  • @havspeed If only

  • very sharp video quality

  • went walking down the street delivering mail during the summer & this song stuck into my mind couldn't get it out. Oh well why fight it , just go with it >

  • GENIUS... A Mystical Ethereal Ephemeral Magical Sweet Silken Web of Primal Lurid Delights.... I love love love the Cure :)

  • Hit #1 on the Billboard modern rock chart for 7 weeks on May 6, 1989 - Ended up being the #1 modern rock hit of 1989

  • @theonlymoo5e Disintegration is, in my opinion, one of the best rock albums ever composed. Grossly under appreciated.

  • @malochala Grossly under appreciated? Are you kidding me? Made Rolling Stone's top 500 albums of ALL TIME, it sold more than any other Cure album produced, and is widely, unanimously considered their best album. Under-appreciated my cock.

  • @ringo380 Yes, thanks, and I know all that... but what I'm talking about is across the broad spectrum of rock music it is under appreciated. Of course, Cure and any new wave/alternative/"goth"/British fans already appreciate it. There's a much bigger world out there than just Cure fans, Rolling Stone readers and anyone else who falls under the shadow of your under-appreciated little cock.

  • I remember distinctly moving from Kansas to Florida back in 1985, never heard of The Cure until I came across WFIT in Melbourne, FL. That's what started my fixation to The Cure. And it hasn't stopped, although I think The Cure has stopped. Hope not. Happy New Year, everyone! Let's hope for better music this year! ;D

  • So, who cares about genre, that should be dismissed as it's like politics when it comes to conversation. How about it is just really great music and it moved you if not for a day or a month, perhaps even a year, or even better for several decades? Genre means nothing with music. I <3 The Cure!!!

  • Really, the only thing "Goth" about The Cure is the hair and the makeup. The music itself is anything but goth. 25 years ago, we just referred to them as "New Wave" with a "gothy mood" is all. Their earliest music was more of a soft punk style that evolved into a dark, pop sound that was so evident in their albums from the mid-eighties on. There's always been a deeper and more dark feeling in their music. There is simply no other band on earth like The Cure. None. They are the best.

  • @malochala We didn't even use terms like "goth" in the 80s. It was punk rock or new wave.

  • @anastasia81472 You're exactly right! I actually never heard the term "goth" in reference to The Cure until sometime in the mid 90's, and that was in a magazine article about Robert Smith. It was just New Wave music in the 80's.

  • @malochala Exactly, and goth music just doesn't usually compare. These guys were the start of a lot of future trends.

  • Dude, why the hell does everyone argue about fucking genre. They are artists, these guys especially...just listen to the music and get out of it what you need to. Quit being little fucking pigs and fighting over stuff that makes you sound a total jackass. YEAH IM TALKING ABOUT YOU @MRAustyn88. Stop being so gay...

  • I use to kill this song on guitar hero lol

  • I love the drums on this song. The bass is fantastic, as is the guitar and synth work, but the drums just drive this thing.

  • If there were more true Goths and not cheap imitations of them, the word would be a cooler place. (not a goth...just sayin')

  • @TheMightehMosh Robert smith hates being referred as a goth. He considers his style, HIS style

  • @MrAustyn88 Agreed, although I wasn't specifically referring to him. I have friends that are goth and they're some of the raddest people. That's basically what I was trying to say.

  • @TheMightehMosh Ah. Ya I know what you mean. I dont ever get to meet goth people, I live in Pheonix AZ, everyones either a hipster or HARDCORE preps, so my life is stripped of people who have souls. But anyway ya GO ROBERT SMITH

  • @MrAustyn88 It's funny how they're always pigeonholed as Goth when their style was more Darkwave than Goth, in my opinion (though, with strong Goth undertones). Their early stuff was mostly Post-Punk, and their middle stuff was a mixture of New Wave (Close to me, everything on Japanese Whispers except "Lovecats", etc). I think he prefers to say it's his style because his style is kind of all over the place.

  • This song brings back such awesome memories. Kathy Barlow, where are you?!

  • The only thing I'm gonna whine about about is that they cut off the bass part at the very beginning. On the cd it has it from the very first touch of a string. Fucking magnificent song no matter what though...

  • 2 people are just jealous that they can't play a guitar and aren't as good looking as Robert....tsk tsk...

  • @kissthebunnie123 and that the song isnt beiber

  • this video is my favorite and im only 19 so yeah i love the cure

  • @rockonsable Awwesome !!

  • I can't fucking believe that this video has only 73,796 hits and that there are two soulless fuckers that doesn't like it! WTF is wrong with this world God, please tell me why?????????

  • @firitus souless fuckers hahahaha

  • This my favorite Cure Video! Love the song, too :) Robert Smith is so yummy :)

  • Yes....the song is great...the video is what it should be...it doesn't need smoke and mirrors to make the song...the song makes the video...just sayin'.....:)

  • The song is great... The video? Not so much... Just saying

  • this is fun to play on bass, and not very hard. OCCUPY FASCINATION STREET

  • @buddhastalin Don't bring that shit on a Cure video please scrub.

  • @Whaaaaaaattt I was just making a joke, I'm not political. also I really like this song!

  • Fuck the Ryhme package. I'm sick of being sold.

  • I just found out about this great song. and I tell ya with some great sub's playin in a kewl old 80's car, you really feel that you are back in the era of just good fun!!!

  • The song is awesome and I'm in love with Simon Gallup.

  • im a straight guy...but i think their keyboardist is sexy as hell

  • @yaaman25 I'm with you!!

  • the entire album was pure brilliance

  • Any first listeners thought the ad was the song while you read the comments. lol

  • @ymistillavirgin

im happy for the no thumbs. maybe u need them to get u unvirginized.

u just proved my point. tasteless and ignorant.not a good combo. remove your thumbs from your arse and u may better yourself.

  • This mix is so much better than the original one on the record. Amazing

  • I wish my girlfriend looked like Robert Smith.

  • @L33TSP34KL0L That's too funny...I used to date a chick that could have passed for his sister when i was in high school.

  • @antisocial71 lmao, that's awesome.

  • @L33TSP34KL0L im sure you do my friend....but then...where would...you..be as you look into that mirror..and she would love for you to look like...........................

loving the cure. worked with them a long long time ago, when i was summer jobbing in college. i was a roadie, it was awesome. and the cure where by far the best band i roadied for. coooolest band evah.

  • @moonmarz1 no thumbs for you

  • Can you put up english cc or subtitles for this video? Thanks, great vid and song.

  • COLD SONG THE BEAT GO HARD

  • TIMELESS"THE WORDS R SO DEEP"

  • This sounds 80's.

  • @neekafat Um, yeah. Because it IS 80's. o.O

  • I <3 this song

  • well if you open your mouth i cannot be responsible for quite what goes in or to care what comes out......i just LOVE that line!!!!

  • This song is fucking brilliant.

  • @moshman71 absolutely it is brilliant.

  • @moshman71 I totally agree. This shit is real music.

  • I would still really love to see the original version of this video although I do like this version. Brilliant song.

  • @webster670 What do you mean original version? I admit I didn't watch all of this post, but what I saw was the original. Or at least the only release of a video I've ever seen. I thought I'd seen most of their videos and bootlegs too, used to collect...

  • @SisterOfKarn The original version of this video was from the exact same shoot, but the images weren't layered. There weren't multiple shots on top of each other. It used some different footage and I think it was much better. Robert didn't like it and had Tim Pope go back and make this version. It's a shame the original isn't around. The video originally ended with this long shot of Porl. It was cool.

  • @webster670 Sorry for extreme delayed reply, RL... >_<

You know, come to think of it I think I do know what you're talking about... It's been so long since I listened to anything from this era. I think it was released once on an old VHS or something, or maybe I bootlegged it. I should go back through my ancient tapes and see if they work. If I find it and if I can dub and extract it, I'll upload it. Sorry Bob. =)

Thank you for the memory. ^_^

  • @SisterOfKarn Unfortunately, the original was never released on video. Or at least not one that I know of. I know Robert doesn't even like the second version. I know that his idea was for the video to be a Dr.Who kind of thing. Which explains the telephone booth. Unfortunately, they didn't really have the budget or time to go all out with it, but the original version is still one of my favorite videos.

  • @webster670 It was. =) I have a copy, just uploaded, will PM you the link. Don't want to piss off some of my fav musicians ever, so I've made it private.

Apparently, it was also available to ppl in UK & Europe @ their VEVO acct, but I haven't checked via proxy to see if it's still there.

  • My all time favorite Cure Song!!! This truly a GREAT BAND

  • love this song!!

  • The Cure is my favorite band ever, but the video reminds me of when I would go to Denny's Restaurant. The smoke was so thick it made everyone's hair frizz up.

  • lol 1:21 how robert smith walks through fascination st

  • Fascinating

  • Why was the beginning cut??!?

  • @GlassOnion1971 The album version was considered too long for radio. Accordingly, the edit is also in the video. I'm just the messenger.

  • Awesome group. Why don't they make music like this anymore.

  • The Guitar is amazing in this song, you can clearly see the passion The cure puts into their music. Awesome song.

  • To all those who don't mind reading about a lot of sex (male on male sex, mind you) read "Lost Souls" by Poppy Z. Brite. It has a lot of Cure references, and vampire stuff, if you're into that. It was a sort-of life changing book when I was 15, however I read it before I knew about the Cure bits in it, so I was doubly surprised and pleased. It can be kind of weird and gross at times, though, just a warning.

  • @SugarBean915 I'll give it a try is worth it though?

  • i like you in that like i like you screaming my favorit part

  • Wow the music is timeless so many good songs by this band.

  • my friend has boys dont cry on her rock band and i play it all the time! =D but she Always says the cure is so depressing.. I dont see how she gets that from hearing that one song. I dont find them depressing. I find them AWESOME!!

  • This is by far the most amazing song by the Cure!

  • @sh4rkbyt3

I think so as well. On the surface its a pop song to a tee but they grace in just the coolest way.

  • I missed the cure. This is going on my MP3 player.

  • isn't this song about the Big Easy? lol

  • I listen to Rap i listen to POP even Bieber..but i LOVE Music and if u have a OPEn Ear to Music and really love it you will LOVE and Appreciate all Music from different Era's I LOve he Cure and there music 2 because i Appreciate Music..Period

  • One of my three favorite Cure songs, from my favorite Cure album. Musically, they were on top of their game in 89-90.

  • these are MY founding fathers

  • the bass line alone beats everything that is out there in pop music.

  • 1 of my favorite Cure songs!!!

  • I love The Cure, they are my FAVORITE 80's band.

  • u know.....i feel like i was born in the wrong era...im 12 but i hate rap...i HATEEEE. POP...i love rock music,alternative,grunge,etc...,just because i dont listen to rap it means im "weird",no it dosent mean im weird,i just listen to real good music not crappy as music

  • @brndncobain i have read many a reply...i am so very happy that you like this music....but no reason to post...your age..bad people are out here!!.

  • Wow. I was just sharing my point of view and I get so many thumbs up on that comment I posted! That's a new record for me! Thanks guys!

  • this is real music, not like rapers of today, at least the rap back then was more groovy, in my opinion, the cure, the smiths, duran duran, etc all those bands and singers are real music, not like justin beiber! ewwww! thank god for real rock music!

  • Disintegration=Masterpiece

  • FKN ADS RUINS THE SONG ,,TAKE THEM AWAY MAN

  • what is this song about?

  • @chica1yeye - I've always felt it was about playing live in front of tens of thousands of people, and what that feels like. or it could be about a couple getting ready to go out dancing.

  • @blueshifter It is about New Orleans

  • @blueshifter It is about New Orleans

  • i effing love this band so much

  • They need to put this rock band 3 with the pro guitar up grade.

  • The drumming to this song is AMAZING. But so is the bass for it, and well so is the guitar I guess its just a solid song vocal and all

  • disintegration.. fave album ever

  • @StefanBeeJay Agreed best album by the Cure.

  • saw them live in 07 when i was 9...BEST CONCERT OF MY LIIIIFE!!

  • I always wanted the cure and Prince to do a song together what a alt hit that would be

  • @SunsetSideVet a collage of egos that would prouduce our happy love and no more wars

  • Bands like Evanessence and such really need to bow down and thank this band. i'm suprissed that no one is really listing to the cure and only to these wannabes of today. I mean if no one hasn't noticed the only reason evanessence is famos is because her music gets played on youtube alot with fan made videos.

  • Good old hash song form the past

  • @thegermanchannel212 well duh he saw them in hollywood. he was probably used to seeing poison and all that other sunset strip bullshit

  • This song is so fucking MENACING. I love it! Does anybody have the original version of this video? It was around youtube for a little while. If you haven't seen it, it's from this exact same shoot, but there are a lot of different shots used and the images aren't piled on top of each other. I much prefer that version. I heard that Robert thought it was boring and had Tim Pope change it. I just wish they would release that version on dvd. I could watch it over and over.

  • @webster670 It is menacing, isn't it. Well said.

  • @glyph68 Prayers For Rain is too. It has that same menacing, sinister feel. So is The Kiss, and a lot of songs on Pornography and...many more. I could go on and on. :)

  • i adore how his lipstick isn't quite on right. When I was a kid that mesmerized me!!!! Their best song, in my eyes....

  • Somebody request to harmonix to put this on rock band 3 and where you can play it on the pro guitars.

  • i think people dislike on purpose, just to get to people. not really to dislike it. how could you dislike the cure?

  • Why is it that MP3 and CD versions of this song NEVER pronounce the instrements as fully as this video. Well....time to rip me some audio..

  • BEST BAND EVER TO LIVE music will never be this good again

  • @thegermanchannel212 You're dad's retarded if he thought is was the worst show ever because they didn't move.

  • I love cranking this tune on Halloween... Fuck Mainstream

  • I never noticed this before, but Robert appears to be playing an electric sitar there in this video.

  • The Disintegration album is what made me fall in love with The Cure to begin with and it has been a long love affair with this beautiful and passionate band!! The Cure has and will always be a treasure to the music world. Love this band!! The Cure!! :) ♥♫

  • One of their best songs ever, and arguably one of the best all-time albums EVER.

  • they dont make music like this anymore.. i agree w/ cryptodriver.. one of their best songs.. .

  • they dont make music like this anymore.. i agree w/ cryptodriver one of their best songs.. .

  • they dont make music like this anymore.. i agree w/ cryptodriver.

  • We need more music like this.

  • This song is just so amazing!! I love the dark and haunting feel it gives your soul!! I can get lost in the deepness of this awesome song!! The Cure are truly awesome and amazing!! Always loved them, always will!! The Cure forever and always!! :) ♥

  • the bass is... amazing

  • @XxKINGxASSASSINxX as always. =D Listen to some of the liver versions of A Forest, or anything else from Seventeen Seconds or Pornography. Some of the best bass lines out there! ^_^ Simon is amazing!

  • My sister thinks this is "a boring, weird, whiny song." All she listens to is rap and pop from some of the worst artists ever. She even has a Bieber song! She (and all those other cheap pop fans) needs to understand that the Cure is real, true music and that rap is crap without a C and pop is poop with one O.

  • @CherryBomb50

Agree. Today's so called "artists" such as Laday Ga Ga or Bieger alike are so tasteless compare to what bands like The Cure has offered.

  • @rfan yeah seriously. Music is about feeling and meaning in the music as well as sounding good. Not the quick buck that those record companies push to make with shitty catchy meaningless tunes.

  • @CherryBomb50 some people don't know how dig deep, for this song its a requirement

  • @CherryBomb50 RAP= RETARDS ATTEMPTIMG POERY

  • @CherryBomb50 how old is your sister? Please don't say she's 12, or older. I'll feel sad because I'm 12. i'll start crying.

  • @CherryBomb50 tell her rot in fucking hell

  • @CherryBomb50 same here!

  • @CherryBomb50

    Hit her.

    Alot.

  • @CherryBomb50 omg yes dude! i totally hear ya, so talented they are, I love their unique dreamy type of feel guitar riffs, I want to do some drum covers of them soon =D

  • @dwattzdrummer i'm gonna sub you because I wanna see the drum covers.

  • @CherryBomb50 The Cure had quite a few pop hits in their own right.............

  • @CherryBomb50 You know, I hate people like this. It's not that she doesn't like it, it's she isn't educated into different styles. I am 12 and at the moment I am branching off from what I normally listening to and training my brain into old quality music. The new stuff is a copy of what used to be. What used to be was pure, new, special, and unique.

  • Comment removed

  • @CherryBomb50 people don t talk abt The Cure on justin biber videos, so why should people on The Cure videos talk abt justin biber?

  • @CherryBomb50 I AGREE! 2DAYS SO CALLED ''ARTIST'' R LIKE FART IN THE WIND! U CAN SMELL IT 4 A WHILE, BUT THEY R DISAPPEAR FAST!

  • @CherryBomb50 Let them live in there valley of ignorance and strike them down when they attempt to climb to your lvl.
