  • this top 10 helicopters is bull shit!!!!!

  • Looks ugly, looks like fish. But still, good heli

  • 12 views were former Mi-24 Hind pilots.

  • .... I just realized this, but isn't saying the Cobra created the "attack chopper" concept and scoring it average on innovation a bit backwards?

  • this is my favorite design of a helicopter

  • i remember these from Battlefield 2... good times good times....

  • Does the pilot at 2:04 wear a football shirt ?...

  • These little faggots obviously havent heard of an apache. The apache would kill every russian helicopter made

  • "HEY! these helecopters are pretty cool! lets put lots of guns on them and use them to SHOOT people!!" LMFAO

  • What the hell is everyone saying hind vs Cobra??? They are two different helicopters meant for different roles Cobra-Attack Hind-attack/transport go to a mil24-26 video and talk about the hind there please. And for you kids out there do not think you know something after you have been playing a video game

  • HIND sucks i can destroy all HIND in just one nuke

  • @joseft30 hind doesnt suck your cobra was just awesome dont underestimate russian weapons a comment from russia

  • @dimitboris just kidding comrade i love russian helicopter more than american helicopter

  • @joseft30 both your cobra and ah64d apache longbow were better choppers than our choppers i love amerikan helicopters too :D soo fast deadly and lethal :)

  • @dimitboris russia is the best america's fighter plane and helicopter is modern thats why but russia is the best

  • @joseft30 hehe not really in terms of military muscle your army is the best :D

  • @dimitboris i m not really an american i m just half american i live in the philippines

  • @joseft30 hmhm i see comrade me im a purew russkiye :D

  • @dimitboris i wish i was russian i want to be a spetsnaz

  • @joseft30 yeah you can comrade we like amerikans here even me i like amerikans is your name josef my name is dimitri nice to meet you :D

  • @dimitboris no my name is joseph like joseph stalin nice to meet u too

  • @joseft30 nice to meet you too by the way do you hate germans because of what they did to us in ww2? :D fuck all germans!!!

  • @dimitboris fuck hitler fuck nazi

  • @joseft30 yeah fuck all germans theyre all nazis

  • @dimitboris HAHA! Same little troll-piggy who got banned by my report!

  • @dimitboris retard

  • @dimitboris Too bad he lost a debate when he stated how "T-34 BESTUST TANK." You fucking retard!

  • HIND Sucks, HIND was replaced by Mi-28 Havoc Attack Helicopter long ago

  • @zhiheng2005 the hind is still actively servicing in the russian army, and the havoc is not that famous the hind is still preferred

  • I still think the Army should have kept some cobras. They are an outstanding helo. With a front target profile of 36X48 inches, they are hard to shot, especially if you ducking rounds and rockets, LOL! Mine in Nam was an AH-1 W "Whiskey" Cobra. Charlie referred to them as the "whispering death", they new their shit was going to be in the wind when the Kiowa showed up. As for the Hind fans, air to air combat gets pretty simple, He who see's lives, he who is seen, IS toast". Hard not to see a hind.

  • Hind eats cobras for breakfast

  • @NiceHeadMr The Mujaheddin was only afraid of the Hind because they lack rocket and missiles launcher. They do not want to wasted their precious RPG-7 and at that time they had no Stinger. Shit, when the Stinger came in, Hinds stay flat on their airfield and barely flew anymore. While, Cobras flew though flak and SAMs fill skies.

  • Ok cobra vs hind.. the cobra is a thinner chopper with better technology than a hind.. the ah1w needs a wingman the ah1z doesnt.. the hind cant hover and fire its weappons the ah1 can hover and fire its weapons... the new cobra and also the old cobra can carry sidewinders but the zulu can carry the AIM-9X which has thrust vectoring. the hind does carry ATA missiles but in a ddog fight the zulu will out manuver it and take the hiind down

  • @XxNismoKidxX

Gotta agree with you on this one.

USSR no longer exists, the HIND is no longer in such a massed produced weapon of war, and all the HINDs can not receive the necessary upgrades to go toe to toe with the latest AH1 series.

As NismoKid said in his weaponry evaluation, simply compared on the level of attack gunship, the AH1 is dedicated gunship designed only for attack as the HIND was not. Again, the HIND is a good helicopter, but it's parent country can no longer upgrade it.

  • i love the speed of that chopper ah 1 cobra

  • Hey these helicopters are pretty cool lets put lots of guns on them and use them to shoot people.

  • the Supercobra is not the Cobra..sorry wrrrrrronggg research...or is the Typhoon the same as the EF 2000?

  • これ、著作権やばくないかwww

  • why is it in mw2, when an attack helicopter comes in, sometimes they say "friendly hind, incoming." or "friendly cobra incoming." when theyre the same helicopter?

  • @kingdodo34 because they are to different helicopters but they have the same role

  • @kingdodo34 because its cod modern warfare poo

  • The narrator is a fucking sociopath

  • Mi-28 is tottaly dedicated to attack, the Mi-24 not.

  • get to tha chopah

  • get to the cobra!!!!

  • @smokndarasta LOL left 4 dead 2 reference to the Coach.

  • "Hey these helicopters are pretty cool, let's put lots of guns on them and use them to shoot people." lol.

  • @whitesox889 yeaj i loled also.

  • yeah soo much

  • dont know why any pure attack helicopter is so on this this list...the mi-24 should be ahead of both this and the ah-64....an attack helicopter list could be different but not a list with this broad a spectrum

  • This is the first attack helicopter! This thing is faster, has a lower infa-red signature, a better gun, hellfire missiles and has seen a lot more combat than the Mi-24. Don't forget this list is about historical impact.

  • I was in the marines so i am all about this helicopter and know what it can do.

But look at their grading scale...versatility..the cobra has nothing compared to the mi-24, survivability goes to the mi-24, both are very innovative, fear factor is same, and service length slight advantage to cobra. Overall the versatility of the mi-24 destroys the cobra on this list. As an attack helicopter the Cobras fly with another helicopter to cover its ass, the mi-24 can cover its own

  • How does survivability go to the mi-24? It got chewed up by stingers.

  • a stinger would take down a cobra too.

  • Not as easily. The Hind was an easy target when it was fully loaded.

  • call of duty fans :

THIS IS A REEEAAAL LIIIIFFFFEEEE !!!

  • what is this suppose to mean?? nothing being debated has anything to do with call of duty.

  • @ftf1987

the " stinger can take anything " wouldn't appear here without call of duty, and the cobra chopper in it -_-"...

  • @retard, where does anyone ever say "stinger can take anything"....and if you dont think that a stinger missile could take down a cobra you are the only one not living in reality. Keep your keyboard commando mouth closed, you obviously dont know shit.

  • Well said.

I don't get how it can score so low for innovation when it was THE VERY FIRST helicopter gunship.

    Just don't get it.

You may be interested to know that on 2 seperate occasions a pair of Cobras snuck up on and downed a pair of Hinds btw.

Personally I still prefer the Hind though.

  • but this isnt a list for Attack Helicopters, and in reality a Uh-1 gunship would probably be the first real gunship. Everyone is overlooking the criteria of this list....its not an attack helicopter list. This list should be viewed as a "if you could only have one helicopter what would it be?" and if you were to choose a cobra or a apache over a blackhawk/lynx/mi-24 or even a ch-47, you are seriously wasting the abilities of the helicopter. Imagine the vietnam war with only cobras!!

  • You're right.

Cobra would be first purpose built attack helicopter gunship.

You make a very valid point btw.

If I had an army & could only have one chopper, it would be Mi24. You?

  • why would you take the Mi24 ??? The Mi28 is way superior compared to the Mi24. It is like everyone knows the Mi28...but not the Mi28. Ever heard of the Kamow Ka-50 ???

  • I've heard of the KA50. I wouldn't take it because we're talking about 1 chopper to fulfill all the needs of a military.

The Mi24 has speed, payload, anti-tank, anti-air and anti-armour capability, which is why I chose it.

As for the Mi28, I consider it less multirole than Mi24 (see above) & unless I'm mistaken, it's not combat proven to the same extent as Mi24.

  • the blackhawk for the modern avionics, weapon systems, and ease of maintenance .

  • Fair enough, to each his own.

  • True, but if we're gonna talk history, I can tell you about how Russian Mi-24 pilots forced their enemies into surrender simply by flying into an attack pattern.

  • "Zulu Cobra" is the latest I believe, but the "Longbow Apache" is the best helicopter out there. I might be wrong though as the Chinese have developed a chopper that can go to the Moon, drop some flyers and come back to Earth, all in less than 1 second.

  • This is a really thin helicopter so it`s hard to see and hit but im not sure if it will survive when hit by a stinger, rpg or any other explosive anti aircraft device

  • my dad was a medic in vietnam and he saw a helicopter flying back and forth right over the tree line. my dad asked his friend what the hell it was doing and he pointed up into the sky and there were a bunch of cobra gunships in the clouds waiting for some poor son of a bitch to shoot at it lol!

  • the cobra is a really skinny chopper

  • Good job redgator i agree they are both amazing revolutionary helicopters. Americans have different feelings about how they feel with Helicopters. So Cobras will feel weird to Russians and Mi-24s will feel weird to Americans. They are both very good and if Russia became good allies with America they would be a force to be reckoned with im happy a war didnt happen both countries would be devastated im happy Obama is trying to fix relations with Russia

  • For all of those for the Hind, I agree. It's good for the fact that is a troop transport, but it doesn't have the speed and handling of the AH-1 Super Cobra. For those on the Cobra's side, I agree that it's good for the fact it's slim, fast, and a killing machine. That's what it is meant to do. But it doesn't have multi-troop transport like the Hind. Cobra's good for killing, weapons and such. Hind is good for weapons, and transporting. They're Equal. Stop arguing. Stop fighting. It's done.

  • vell, i'm not a hind fan but hind is faster then cobra..

    only beaten by lynex Helicopter..

  • Not true, supercobra is faster. And the Ka-50 and uh-60 are also faster.

  • The Hind is alot faster than any other attack helicopter, including the Cobra. I'm honestly surprised the Hind is the only helicopter ever made thats able to transport troops and then support them.

  • MI-24=sidewinder from Super Cobra

  • haahahha americnas lost 7000 helicpoter in vietnam 5000 was huey and 2000 cobras!!!mi 24 will fuck this shit!!!!mi 24 is better form any nato helicopter today!!mi 24 is better form apache and tiger!!!ka 50/52 is best helicopter today!!!one bullit form pistol and apache, cobra and tiger is down!!!!

  • USA lost about 300 huey cobras during the Vietnam war.

  • Is this english or the work of a 8 y.o.?

  • Actually, in the contest. The an upgrade of the Cobra owned the KA-50.

  • An upgrade*

  • HOLY $HIT I ARGUED WITH YOU BEFORE! you are insane with this false information everyone elses is reasonable THEY ARE EQUAL!

  • People shut the fuck up about the Hind, go to the Hind video. This is the Cobra video... dumbasses

  • Yeah too many people are talking about that fucking Hind. SPAM THEIR ASSES!

  • USMC is the only ones using this attack helicopter right?

  • Army uses it too.

  • no they stopped, its only used by the Marines

  • Doesn't the Navy use AH-1W Super Cobras too?

  • No only the Marines use AH-1W SuperCobra. But the US Navy's amphibious assault ships do transport them but I believe only the Marines operate them.

  • Alright. Thanks for the information man, was really curious about that.

  • eventually the AH-1W will be replaced by the AH-1Z. I'm not sure if the -1Z model will be better than the 1W though.

  • 1Z Viper is basically just an upgraded 1W so yea its better

  • shouldent i got higher in innovation? was it not the first of its kind?

  • I agree.

  • i also agree. its airframe is unique.

  • this thing beats the hind but the hind is old.

  • As DID has noted, the H-1 upgrade program to remanufacture 100 of the Marines old UH-1N Hueys and 180 of its AH-1W SuperCobra attack helicopters into advanced UH-1Y Venoms and AH-1Z Vipers with strong parts commonality has run into some problems. In May 2005, the Navy warned Bell that the H-1 program was in serious jeopardy because the Texas-based company has been failing to meet its needs, reserved the option of killing the program, and demanded fundamental changes.

  • That information is not correct. There was no remanufacturing done on either the AH-1Z or the UH-1Y. Both aircraft were totally new versions of the older ones. The entire fleet meaning both the Zulu and the Yankee were completely new aircraft not refurbished older aircraft. from the cabins to the main rotor systems everything about them was totally new. The two aircraft share 84% of their total parts. This past summer, the Marines received 49 of the original 180 AH-1Z's.

  • The remainder of the fleet are scheduled to be delivered over the next 2-3 years. Only 25 of the original order of 100 UH-1Y have been delivered and the remaining 75 will also be delivered by 2012. But to date, the Marine pilots who have flown the two aircraft are happy with both aircraft and in some areas the aircraft's have exceeded their requirements.

  • To date, the H-1 Operational Test Team has put a total of 156.6 flight hours on the aircraft in 92 sorties. The AH-1Z Viper and UH-1Y Venom are slated to replace the current fleet of AH-1W and UH-1N aircraft which have been operating at sea with the Marine Corps for many years. The H-1 program provides over 80 percent parts commonality for the two aircraft.

  • Typical reckless yankee 1.00

"Put lotsa guns and shoot people"

  • That looks like a hunter from gta sa

  • You are comparing truck with buggy.

  • All true, The hind is is all you say. Problem is, it make a BIG target. The Cobra has a target profile of 36" wide and 48" high. a small target indeed, especially when it's shooting at you. The Whiskey Cobra with the eight barreled minigun, was a vast improvement. The Cobra was called the whispering death by the Vietcong and NVA, by the time they knew it was around, shit was blowing up all around them. It is among the quietest helicopters out there. Great machine.

  • can i just say...the Hind is bigger, faster, looks better and is more impressive then the Cobra.

  • lol, your opinion seems to be in the minority.

  • it is, but that is because few know that big things are pretty scary...the Cobra is just a hovering tin can with lots of destructive weapons bolted on...The Hind is a perfect all rounder, combining gunship with transport.

  • They rarely did both at the same time.. Mi8's did most of the troop transport with a Mi-24 escort. The Mi-24 pilots preferred to carry extra ammo and repair tools rather than troops. I agree that it is a mean helicopter and heavily armed and armoured but the AH-1 is the better, more advanced dedicated-attack helicopter

  • The flaw in your logic is that a helicopter built to transport troops and also combining as a gunship is slower and much easier to shoot down than a helicopter like the all new AH-1Z(Zulu). The Zulu or Viper as the military calls it has plenty of ordnance including both Hellfire and Sparrow missiles to carry out its mission and the speed to engage other airborne threats including jet powered aircraft. The truth is each aircraft have a specific mission to carry out.

  • true, but for helicopters such as the cobra, they would also have to add less armor to increase it's agility. The Hind is one of the fastest gunships made, it can go at 176mph (if i remember correct) meaning that any bullets rained upon it would probably miss and i think most hinds can disperse flares to disorientate missiles.

  • The Viper with its twin GE-T700-GE-401C turboshaft engines that each produce 1800shp it is capable of flying at speeds over 185 mph with a never exceed speed of 255 mph. It also can disperse anti missile flares and carries both Hellfire and Sidewinder missiles with fire and forget technology meaning it is capable of engaging jet aircraft. The Hind may have been superior but with newer technology it is clear the AH-1Z Viper is now the standard for gunship support.

  • and whats it's troop capacity? none i bet. the hind is a better all rounder.

  • Actually the AH-1Z has to fold out compartments on each side of the aircraft below the pilot who sits in the back seat, and these fold out doors are like jump seats and are capable of carrying one person on each side. During the Vietnam war it was not uncommon for Cobras to land and pick up two soldiers who needed to be medivaced to a hospital.. But, the Cobras main mission is to provide close air support not to transport troops. And that is why for it's purpose it is the better helicopter.

  • for it's purpose yes, i would say it's a good helicopter, but with something as big, beautiful and meaty as a Hind on the market, you can tell that they're the only choice for multi-op helicopters

  • I AGREE , nothing more , nothing less

  • This whole Hind crap is garbage. The Soviets made the hind because Moscow didn't want an attack helicopter but the SOviet Military saw the success of the Cobra in Vietnam. They didn't want a troop transport attack helicopter. It was forced on the military by Moscow. Thats why they made a KA-50 later. You need to read up on aircraft instead of spouting out dumb comments.

  • i do know about the KA-50, and quite frankly i still prefer the hind. even if it was forced upon them, it still is a great all rounder, it's fast, heavily armed and transports troops. so what if in an air-to-air fight it would be beaten by the cobra? everyone has their own opinion and i'm afraid theres fuck all that you can say that will change my perception.

  • Great Machine.

  • I think my country should buy this...

  • what r ur country's possible threats ?

  • Well its a question of just having them, we got jet fighters, transport choppers, apcs, tanks(albeit an upgraded T-76 thats freaking old)we need it attack choppers to round it out u know? and u dont know if ur gonna get attacked one day....

  • what country do you live in the might have it

  • very good helicopter.i thought it was shit before but 17 misssiles and 76 mm armor thats pretty good.

  • Commentator, "Lets put lots of guns on them and use them to shoot people!" Genious!

  • this aircraft was made with one goal in mind and that was to put steel on the enemy... and it performes that task very, very well!

  • i still like the apache better it has bigger guns :)

  • I've always had a secret crush on that chopper, so simple and yet so effective. :)

  • The first attack helicopter in the world scores low mark for innovation??? :/

  • yea whats up with that garbage it should of been number 1 and with the Zulu up and coming the Cobra will be one of the best if not the best attack helicopters on the planet

  • Especially now that the Cobra can use Hellfire ... the TOW placed limitations on the Cobra. The only advantage an Apache has is the "heads up" display. A Fully Modernized Army Cobra will kick azz!!! I flew on an Apache a few times and I was impressed, however the Cobra is time tested and has had all its bugs worked out of it.

  • apache has bugs worked out too. its over a decade old.

  • I crewed Cobra's with the 10th AHB in Illeshiem, Germany. When the AH-64's arrived in Europe they were grounded for awhile because the Jesus Nuts (Main Rotor Nut that holds on the main rotor) had cracks. All the Apaches Jesus Nuts had to be sent out to be X-rayed for cracks. This video shows a USMC model Cobra with 2 engines for amphibious operations. The army version has 1 GE L703 Turbine Engine and it isn't as wide as the Whiskey Model. Personally I believe the Cobra will beat an Apache.

  • Aguilucho ch-14

  • I don't like Challanger II, I think Abrams, Leopard and T-80 look better :)

  • They broke the mold when this thing was developed for the Veitnam war. It`s a classic...

  • Ok I don't know much about helicopters I admit but why isn't the Eurocopter Tiger. From what I've seen it's a good military attack helicopter.

And I've always been wondering how biased this show can be when all the persons who "judge" (or comment) the vehicles are american. Won't they just decide that "this tank(or whatever) is better because it's american." ?

I'm trying to insult anybody as this is just natural thinking, a brit would more likely choose a british car over a german car.

  • Exactly, but I'm not American and I prefer M1 Abrams to the Challenger :)

  • you have to remember there lists also count for innovation and although the eurocopter tiger was very effective it didnt exactly break the mould.

  • yea, not just that, its also how much the helicopter influenced the world.

  • I like the Challenger 2 more.

  • this ratings are bullshit....the Cobra is definetly one of the best ever...

  • True, the cobra is still one of the best Attack helicopters ever, its just the Apache outmatches it.

  • oh I'm not deying the Apache is superior, but for it's time the Cobra is still one of the best, even today...the Iranians proved it during the war with Iraq...

  • The Cobra is good, but a bit outdated. The main reason the US still uses it is because it's lightweight and small, but unlike the Apache, it's not built like a tank. We've lost a LOT more Cobras than Apaches.

  • haha a LOT.... when please enlighten the rest of us on the hundreds of lost cobras..

  • how?? by getting it shot down by the huge Mi-24?? be real son

  • The real fact is the new AH-1Z Super Cobra the Marines are now starting to receive from Bell are by far the most advanced and best Attack Helicopter in the world today. It will literally fly circles around the Apache in every category from top speed, to maneuverability, to weapons systems. The AH-64 Apache doesn't stand a chanced against the totally refurbished Cobra with its bigger engines, 4 MRB system and superior weaponry. It is literally a "Beast."

  • Yeah i can understand that, its not like dogfights were sometimes the pilot will win over the plane. but relatively its a new attack helicopter so we will see what comes to us in the future.

  • I could be wrong, but doesn't it only have capacity for 8 hellfires? That would be half of the Apache's load. Plus, the Apache has a 30mm compared to the S-Cobra's 20mm.

  • You are wrong, the AH-1Z is capable of carrying up to 16 either B or C Hellfire missiles and while it still uses a 20mm cannon the updated version has a flatter trajectory for more accuracy and is equivalent to a .50 cal machine gun. Those things added to the fact that is is faster or more agile make it a superior attack helicopter when compared to the AH-64 Apache.

  • These shows never really rate them right.

    Oh ya :

    Apache: 4 weapon pylons

    Super Cobra/HueyCobra: 4 weapon pylons

  • Listen Dumbass, my father is an engineer on the AH-1Z at Bell Helicopter and I can say without any doubt the new AH-1Z is by far the most agile, fastest helicopter ever built and would out fly and out perform the Apache any day of the week.

  • I was stating that the Super Cobras are supposed to be atleast ranked #2. O ya AH-1Zs aren't i service yet? Bah I don't know must of slipped me up. Tell me if it is in service?

  • The Marines have taken delivery of several of the new Super Cobras they just have not been deployed into combat yet but are scheduled to be deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan in the spring of 2009.

  • AH-1Zs are Vipers not super cobras

  • Sorry to disappoint you, but the AH-1Z is in fact called a "Super Cobra-Zulu" I know this to be true as my father is a Configuration Engineer on both the "Zulu" and "Yankee" which is the "UH-1Y" Huey. The two helicopters are completely new versions of the original UH-1, "Huey" and the AH-1 "Cobra" which were developed during the Vietnam War, however they share 84% of their total parts which means that the Marines have to stock less parts than they would with the older versions.

  • Where you came up with the name "Viper" I will never know. But your information is flawed.

  • In terms of the name "Viper" for aircraft, that term is commonly reserved for the Viper, Mk11 personal jet which is classified under FAA Part 23 which means it will exceed aerobatic requirements. It is also classified as an experimental aircraft. It is mfg. by the Viper Aircraft Corp. and can be purchased in kit form. It can seat 2 individuals and is powered by a single GE turbofan jet engine capable of climbing at a rate of 12,000fpm and has a range of 800-1000nm & a top speed of over 500kts.

  • well all i nkow is, when it comes into service, it is gonig to be one awesome machine.

  • The AH-1Z Super Cobra is already in service. The initial order of 49 aircraft was delivered to the Marines last summer and they are scheduled for deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan early this year. You are right about it being an awesome machine and more than one Islamic terrorist or member of the Taliban is going to be shitting in their drawers the first time they look up and see one of these beasts fully loaded with armaments bearing down on their ass.

  • Both names are valid as they are variants. Official DOD name is Viper. I work on these at the depot level.

  • The first AH-1Z Viper development helicopter, Zulu 1, has arrived at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Md., to begin Phase II of its flight-test program. The helicopter, fitted with a new four-bladed rotor, is the first of three AH-1Z EMD (engineering and manufacturing development) aircraft that will be tested at Patuxent River.

  • sry i also its nick name viper thats all i know but i see that it is flawed so tis corrected.

  • They should try to put longbow on it. Cobras kick ass

  • the AH1 is a legendary, AND FIRST gunship, so dont insult it, the cobra is a timeless hunter.

  • WHAT!! the AH-64 is the Armys responce the the ageing Cobra. Don't forget the Army flew the cobra until th AH-64 was built. then it sold all the old ass cobras to the Marines. why? they are old outdated dino.s . not to say they are useless but maybe great for likr the Nat'l Grd

  • I disagree. This chopper still kiss ass. Yes some Nat'l guard & res. still use them.

  • The Marines didnt buy any army cobras dumnass! do some research before you start blabbering and the whiskeys in Iraq did amazing read hammer from above its got some good Cobra combat stories

  • Is it true that helicopter propelers are magnetically charged and smaller properlers going in oppisite direction just above longer propelers create a gyro magnet field almost like magnet gears they don't touch but the field equals out the magnetic polar pull makes less vibration against each other.

  • The ideal weapons platform...AH-64D
