Giving up is actually the best thing to do when your a writer. If your on a hot streak for a little while and your writing something amazing and then you just stop and you can't go any farther, give up and move on. Start new projects and let the old ones incubate for a while. Ideas can be like whine, they have to mature and grow older. Either they'll become a fine cognate or they'll turn to vinegar. That's just the way it is...you can't force yourself to be imaginative or creative.

"just finishing" something is only important if your, you know, trying to get a check so you can eat and pay the light bill. which i respect, but if your writing for yourself you don't have to force yourself to keep going with something if you've literally exhausted yourself creatively at that point. Sometimes it is just better to let ideas sit on the shelf for a while...as long as there written down, you can always come back to them.

His reason for not helping the midget was bullshit. If he'd had a good reason, I could give him a pass. But "because I don't like to work?" Yeah, the guy was right to call him out on that.

A good answer would have been: I don't look at other people's work, because I don't want to be accused of stealing the ideas. It's nothing against you personally.

And, if it were me, the fact that the crowd booed would have been enough for me to do it. That was the most insensitive thing. Fuck them.

He essentially saying: "I won't do it because I'm selfish." To decline without an excuse would have been better.

(It was still better than to fall for the guy's trap and point out that he was intentionally trying to use sympathy and embarrassment to pressure Kevin into doing it.)

He's good in Good Will Hunting, Changing Lanes and as a director he's very promising (Gone Baby Gone is amazing). I agree with Smith. Essentially Affleck is a talented actor but has made some baaaad choices.
