I just finished episode 3, season 1 and I'm hooked now - definitely a 'guilty pleasure' ( it's kinda like Six Feet Under meets Hannibal Lector ) - it's scary sometimes though - not for everybody. Tuck the kiddies into bed before partaking of it with your life partner.

Also, this show tells you an important message: Do the ends justify the means? In other words, the actions which Dexter perform...despite his moral judgement, what he does...is it truly good?

I don't believe it's that simple. Dexter is more of a grey character than someone who's merely good or bad.

Dexter is urged to kill by impulse. An impulse that comes from a traumatic childhood experience. Anyhow, I watch Dexter beause he's a very intriguing character. And I feel like towards the end of the first season, we began to see bits and pieces of his personality start to feel...well as close to feeling anything as possible.
