  • not everyone has got another three ext flashes..

  • @1buciak1 You don´t need 3 extra speedlights, use your built in flash.

  • @1buciak1 Just thrust your on camera speedlite, place two reflectors both facing right and left of your flash at 90 degrees.

  • great work!

  • How many shots does it take till you find one that you like? I just did one tonight for the first time (on camera flash because wont get school equipment till tomorrow) and it looks like crap and I did around 50 shots and only like 5-10 are good. Also, do you use gels or do you food color and rechange the bowl everytime?

  • @xxdrkanglsxx Yes, it usually take some time to get the right picture that you want.

If i shoot around 100-150 frames, i may end up with 5-10 that are really good and stands out.

You can of course go for a lasers triggered rig that will do the timing for you, that will save you a lot of time. No gels and no food coloring, i use "a'color paint" , take a look at: creativitydirect.co.uk/school-og-institution-paint/ . I don't replace the color after every shot, just fill it up some more :)

  • Amazing work man. And it's really cool you sharing information. Thanks!!

  • @Anb4791 Thank you! :)

  • "These were taken without any help, just drop and dick."

  • amazing video and have ton of great information great everything i have one question i was wondering what shutter speed and f-stop was you using to shoot this amazing shoots thanks again from jewell bunch III A fellower photographer

  • @photobyjewell1987 Thank you! I usually set the shutter speed at 1/200, and the f-stop at f8-f11. :)

  • can u do this without an external flash? ??

  • @angrypooman96 Yes, if your camera have a built in flash you can use that one.

But it's a compromise, the built in flash tends to make the image picture flat, and the settings in the camera may not allow you to change the power as much as on an external flash.

  • Just incase anyone wanted to try long shutter speeds but couldn't get it dark enough, I suggest using an ND filter :) Just adding on to a brilliant tutorial!

  • omg

  • Amazing!!!!

What kind of mix did you use in 0:37 and 0:42 ?

  • @TheDigitalPT Thank you! I used black and orange acryl A-color paint.

  • Very useful tutorial~~~~~ Thanks a lot!

  • @angguguking You're welcome! :)

  • 0:21 last word? dick??

  • hi amazing photography and excellent tutorial....just wanted to ask you how many flash lights did u use and what was the background?

  • @mazinbuds Thank you! How many speddlights i use depends on what kind of style i'm looking for.

For the photos in the video i'm using 1-2 speedlights, no background was added.

I use custom made cones that i attach to the flashes so i can direct the light, therefore it seems like i have added a black background.

  • wtf it's gonna cost me a grand just to take a picture of water

  • @lilcummy

no, you can use cheap optical strobes and the built flash to trigger them. Just make sure the on-camera flash is over-powered by the strobes.

You can use hot lights too, you just need lots of light...

  • Hi! Very nice shots!

What liquid do you use and what do you drop at 0:29 to get so nice result?

What liquid is at 0:34 ?

    Thanks!

  • @fervexx09 Thanks! I use a mix of yogurt and thick acryl A-color paint. Think it was a washer or a nut that was used.

  • Great tut and work :)

  • Great tutorial. Thanks.

What was the name of the song you used in the video??

    Good job and thanks again.

  • @MysteryRandomGuy2 Thanks! Music by Damien rice - 9 crimes.

  • @xstudiocreations Thanks again :D

  • hi

plz does any flash freeze the motion like the 3rd party yongnuo yn560 ???

  • @mohamed26257 I don't have the knowledge about every flashgun that's out there, but most speedlight's will work perfect, be able to set the power on it, that's a really big plus. Big studio strobes usually have to long flash duration to operate satisfactorily.

  • @xstudiocreations ok thanks :)

  • @mohamed26257 I have used yongnuo flash guns, and they are great, I use them as optical slaves on 1/64 power.

Great intro into the world of water drops too, its just how I got started, it soon becomes an obsession.

  • Wonderful sharing, lot's of hugs...

  • I can take those kind of photos with a compact digital camera. You dont really need a super expensive Dslr

  • @mulleolsen Yes, that's true, a compact camera will work to :)

But you won't be able to synk the speedlight's with you camera anymore.

You can go for the flash in your compact of course, but that won't give you much option.

Another approach is that if you can set the shutter speed on your compact to about 5sec,

and then pop the speedlight manually, that will work perfectly :)

  • thank you so much. im new in digital photography. and im so happy i found this tutorial.

  • Thank you soo much for making this tutorial.

  • @Maryam0 Thank you soo much for making this tutorial.

    You're welcome. :)

  • omg song pleasee

  • hi how deep is the pan that you have the liquid in?

  • @HasseBswe Hi! The container is approximately 4cm deep, but i never fill it all the way up.

It all depends on what type of liquide a use and what type of photo i want.

The container also have a drain hole with a tap and a hose in one of the corners.

  • You are awesome! Thanks for making this tutorial now I finally can do a bit of highspeed photography.

BTW I subbed and could you possibly tell me which font you were using.

  • @TechTechTechTV

You´re welcome :) Sorry, i can find the font i used in the video.
