I was at this event, my younger brother took part in dancing for Po'pay and i was honored and proud to witness this historical event. As described of seeing an eagle, it was a spiritual moment knowing his spirit was among us. I am also a pueblo native of zuni and laguna and im proud of it.
Hey i want 2washinqton D.C wen thy put po'pay in the hall of fame.. n idanced after.. im frm Zuni Puelo n we even danced out thr tht dahi im in thee ViDEO!!!... IT WUHZ HOOOTTT!!!
Blessings and HONOR to all our Native American people. They are to be respected, learned from, and set up as the this nations treasure. Our government has not done enough to preserve our Native American heritage. I can only hope that one day the true Americans will rise up again and take back what was stolen from them.
Po'Pay not only represents Ohkay Owingeh but he presents the whole Pueblo community working as a whole to overcome obstacles. It's great that Po'Pay was finally recognized as a hero because he was. I am pueblo from a Keres Nation and we not only celebrate Po'Pay but also Catiti(one of Po'Pay's generals, the victory, but more importantly to honor the people of each pueblo out there. That eagle shows that the spirits are always present. Im proud to be pueblo because it's a hard but satisfying life
The pueblo people in this video live quite near my pueblo, but lets look at how many young natives know about Po'Pay today...slim to none. It's sad to see, hear, and feel. I'm Pueblo and i do take part in dances also, but not many young natives know why we dance. Our Native people are slowly dying.
The problem was that the previous generation for the most part didn't make a concerted effort to teach what they know to their next generation, for whatever their reasons were for clamming up.
No reason is a decent enough reason for a parent to NOT teach their kids what they know. Yes, the next generation will take some knowledge from various sources and create for themselves their own understanding, but the onus is on the previous generation to teach the next generation the Knowledge.

This is the most beautiful thing of USA. Unfortunately, most american people are not aware of their ancestral greatness.
