It's not the acting; it's the physcology. Matt acted lost and weak, and everyone knew it, which means he can act. Because he's an actor, everyone knew his hand is the opposite to the emotion he portrays. What he should have done was to not act at all, be stolid, or make a big bet at the turn to make people think he had an 8. Had he done that, the guy with A8 would have lost more chips.
