  • Cold sores all caused from dehydration and sun light exposure.

  • Looks like a football to me hahaha

  • Please tell me where I can buy pods like that to grow my own. I have looked all over the web and cannot find fresh pods.

  • @jaredcpape The companies are listed in the video description. They are in stock and ready to be purchased. :) Montosgardens dot com is the best link. Check it out.

  • Botany...Not War!!

  • i live in puerto rico, and i would like to know what kind of plants i should be able to grow here without any problems

  • @DR8POY I think the question is what CAN'T you grow there? You have a crazy wonderful environment there. The only thing you might have problems with would be cool season crops such as spinach and lettuce. You live in a Beautiful area! :)

  • Hello, can you name your source for the pods. Totally need to try this, i am a tropical and exotic plant freek. Need this information please!!!!

  • @liquidchef1010 There are 2 companies that sell cocao pods or seeds. The links are now in the video description. Good luck and have fun! :)

  • Oh, Gosh... heaven.

  • I love exotics thx

  • Were did you get pod, I'm interested

  • that alien hand looked creepy! Do you have the end result (green plants giving coco) or no? Thank you, never seen aything like this.

  • @ellie3637 My more recent videos show the plant growing taller but not quite old enough to start producing fruit.

  • Awesome video! The exotics are so much fun more challenge!

  • For a second I misread the link as "MonsantoGardens" and my heart skipped a beat.

  • love to see people like this planting things doing something for life we have to clon this guy ha..ha..hi....

  • Have your seeds sprouted?

  • I would use the empty shell as a pot

  • I am so gonna try this for this Spring. I love growing "weird" things here in frosty WI, just because I can. Thank you for thinking of this. You should try soap nuts. That is my "weird" project this Spring. I hope it works, so I can freak my kids out when they have to do their laundry.LOL. There are a lot of plants were the outside husk has to be soaked before planted...who would have thought:) Nature is true genius:)

  • great interesting video, is it possible to grow coconuts, from a fresh coconut, or other palmtrees indoors as well? or maybe a mango? some people even grow a bananaplant indoors, i live in the Netherlands.

  • @zilstmenneke2b You can grow a coconut but it takes up to a year for it to germinate. Mango is possible and easy. I'm growing one indoors along with acai palm tree. These plants are shown in my recent videos.

  • Hey man I did not realise you were the same guy as on the other channel. ray isn't it. Sounds real exciting. You can't beat chocolate :) Will be real interesting to see how they do. Good luck with them ;)

  • Awesome video! I'm obsessed with growing unusual plants too.

  • i like wierd seeds to grow too , how did they do ? do you have a follow up video on these ?

  • @bbsmith45 Yes I did an update on one of the cocoa trees yesterday on my VoodooGarden channel. You might enjoy seeing how it's doing now. :)

  • Saw your channel through another YTuber, great channel! I'm just starting to post videos, but love all the "growers" channels out here! Good luck with the cocoa plant.

  • They look like footballs.

  • @ZesarCesar17 i was just going to say that yo... thier footballs! organic footballs! thier is a god! haleluya!

    er whatever....you get the point.

  • Hey Buddy! How are you? How are ur cacao plant doing? I just got a cacao pod from a botanical greenhouse here! :-) How do u take care of it? why does ur leafs don't get brown?

  • Lysine is said to be good against cold sores.

  • do u have a follow up to the cocoa plant? did it grow? how big is it? i want one!!!

  • @BoricuaChiTown Yes the cocoa grows fast! One plant survived but is approximately 4 feet tall and has leaves over a foot long.

  • They look like silos to me!

  • This was very interesting. What is the status of your cocoa plant?

  • I have a natural organic cure to kill your cold soars if your interested...I suffered with them since i was 7 .... robrose69@gmail.com....

  • youre so cute !!!!!!!!!! thank you im totally doing this

  • I really want to see what a cannabis plant will be like in your garden. Talk about amazing growth. Would you be permitted in MN?

  • @share512 My best guess is it would end up as tall as my sunflowers (12 ft). The DEA would show up and have to whip out the old chainsaw to remove the illegal monolith. :)

  • @Praxxus55712 you can get a medical card in MN. you dont even have to smoke it if you dont want, you could just grow the plants for the smells AND BELIEVE ME marijuana has thousands and thousands of BEEEEAUTIFUL smells of every sort you can think of not to mention they are the most usefull beautiful plant to look at on the face of the planet earth lol

  • where could you buy a heating pan?

  • @MsEJIMENEZ Just about any store sels them but you best bets are target, walmart, cvs, or walgreens :)

  • what kind of cocoa pods did you ordered ?

  • @MsEJIMENEZ I ordered a small yellow and a large orange. Look for a heating pad at any local department store such as wal mart. Make sure it doesn't have an automatic shutoff.

  • Just surfing around Youtube for different things about gardening and stumbled across this video. This is the first video that I have watched of yours and you are so freaking fun and hilarious I have to go watch more. : )

  • Comment removed

  • never seen them before thanks

  • It's the creepy weird looking alien tongue thing. Which is the part where the seeds were connected. From the coco pods.

  • ray where can i order a cocoa pods ??? i tried looking and most sell them dry

  • @daule9 The site I ordered from is sold out for awhile but will probably have them in soon. The link is in the video description.

  • Very cool ! I Like when in the middle of the vid when you said" don't cut yourself" and then added :"I wont " lol very funny .

  • Hey Ray! I have planted cacao seeds and they are very tricky to keep them alive when u sprouted them! The like alot Of spraying with water

  • hey praxxus i really think that you should do a video on growing a avocado pit plant. just a thought -megasamrox

  • I have a heat lamp from chickens. Will that keep them warm enough?

  • I have one question about growing them.

I have a heat lamp from chickens would that work to heat the soil, and at what temperature should I keep it.

  • @chickenosm Yep that would work very well. Just keep the seeds at around 85 degrees or so until the germinate. They germinate FAST! After germination you wouldn't have to heat the soil. They can grow fine at room temperature.

  • I ordered the large red pod and i hope to grow it with your instructions. TANKS!!!!!

  • rub hot pepper on your cold sore

  • Wait, can you answer this question? I went to the link to the site you put in the description. But there are different types of cocoa fruit. Which one did you use in your video? Please answer.

  • @GhOsTF141 I bought the small yellow and medium red. I think the company should be restocked soon. They ran out quickly after being hit by a wave of customers from this video.

  • @Praxxus55712 lol you should be paid for promoting there website. And thanks for the answer. :D

  • This is beyond amazing! I have often wondered how to do this, & if it was possible.

Seeing things like this always makes me wonder how SOMEONE got the idea to eat some of those gooey-dried up-fermented seeds to begin with.

Best of luck to the cocoa babies!

  • Looks like cracking open a lobster.

  • The site selling the beans is down D:

  • lOl I Love this guy koko for cocoa pods :) good job keep up the good work !!

  • it looks like brains ...

  • @buddoyr But it tastes surprisingly better than brains. :)

  • @Praxxus55712 - Brains have long been a delicacy to many peoples. Contemporary Americans find the thought repulsive, but I understand they have a high fat content, which, according to scientific studies & most people's observaton, is a reliable measure of ho

  • I was actually expecting you to say "Im actually not growing these for the chocolate im growing them for the leaves. Which are key ingredients in cocaine" Chew on the leaves bro. Try it.

  • @xbeast133 That is incorrect. You're confusing coca leaves (cocain) with cacao/cocoa leaves(chocolate). Two entirely different and unrelated plants. Cacao/cocoa leaves have zero effects on people.

  • @Praxxus55712 Ah thanks. I was sort of confused. Thanks for the help :)

  • @Praxxus55712 - A good example of why attention to correct spelling & word usage is not being 'nitpicky'! As you point out: Cocoa powder is made from the seeds of the cacao plant; scientific name Theoboma cacao. While cocaine is derived from the leaves of the coca plant, the leaves have been used medicinally & in religous rituals & as a tea. Chewing the leaves or drinking the tea does NOT produce the 'high' provided by cocaine. The tea is drunk as we drink Lipton, or a Coca-Cola.

  • @xbeast133 lol ignorance

  • Would they be good to grow in florida?

  • @jameronies My guess would be definitely. Hot humid weather is perfect for pineapples.

  • @Praxxus55712 would they grow good in ga

  • @bigcloud950 I doubt they would survive a winter outdoors but if you brought them indoors for the winter you could grow the heck out of them outdoors during the warmer months. They love indirect sunlight.

  • @Praxxus55712 oh ok dude and how much do they cost i wanna make homemade chocolate and give it out at my high school lol

  • grow some melissa plants then with their dried leaves and vaseline make a paste, it works well for cold sores.

  • Thanks for the info. My seeds arrived on schedule, but no pod...just the seeds in a ziplock baggie. I only bought the "10 seed pack" I guess you have to by the 50 seeds to get the whole pod. But I thought, what am I going to do with 50 plants? have my plant army battle your plant arm?

The seeds looked moist and were not dried out some of the seeds had already started to germinate. I quickly planted them in some cups and placed them on a heating pad...so now I'm just waiting.

    L8r

  • Excellent video, my pods will be here in a day or two and I was wondering...when you planted the seeds, did you bury the entire seed or did you leave part of the seed protruding from the soil? It sounds like you only put a little soil in the tray.

    Thx

    Chris

  • @PUMPKINDUDE26 Definitely plant them an inch deep. I planted mine extra shallow to watch them germinate, but if I should have planted them a bit deeper to keep them evenly moist. Warmth is the key to sprouting them. They pretty much have a 100% germination rate so be ready for a swarm of baby plants. :)

  • HEY HOW

  • HEY THATS AWESOME

  • HEY THATS AWESOME

  • Where did u get them from please may u message me about it thank you very much

  • @madmaniacks I emailed the link to you.

  • @madmaniacks xould you also send me a personal message with where to buy them aswell. btw, ur vids are great keep up the good work!

  • Comment removed

  • @MisterNickOtine LOL absolutely! It's the plant that produces the pods that are used to make chocolate. :)

  • Cool~ thanks for sharing

  • This video is quite intresting

  • I think the casing off that pod would make a beautiful little gardening pot for a small herb or something if you sawed a little bit off the bottom to flatten it out so it would stand on its own :)

  • i live in puerto rico and i did not know about it i have to check it out :)

  • i live in puerto rico and i did not know about it i have to check it out

  • Do you post videos on both channels or just one?

  • @Hemolymph Weekly on both.

  • @Praxxus55712 What is your other channel?

  • @caholaway It's the VoodooGarden channel. Fun stuff! :)

  • wait lemme smell it first(ME) O.O

  • what website did you purchase these seeds from?

  • @islandgardener I posted a link to the site on the next video and explained some things about ordering pods. :)

  • When that update cuz? I've heard orchid seeds are extremely difficult to germinate and I'm assuming since cocoa is in the same orchidaceae family that it aint easy either. As soon as I see your seeds pulling through the soil I'm buying my own pods fer sure.

  • @phantomcreamer Update is upload. The seeds germinated in 3 days with a 100% germination rate! You are going to LOVE growing these seeds! :)

  • Just want to let you know your videos are so inspirational, you've helped me decide to grow a garden for the first time EVER and I'm 40! Growing a little hydroponicly and a whole bunch of seeds going on right now!

  • @haiweigh 40 is just a yungun! LOL Never too old to start having fun! :)

  • Very interesting! Thanks!

  • wats the name of the web?

  • im kooko for coco pods! LOL

  • keep us updated :)

  • hey Ray when do u sugest me to start my seeds. The climate where i live is like yours

  • @gameplay1999 The time to start seeds is a minimum of 6-8 weeks before the last frost in your area. I go for a minimum of 8 weeks. It gives them time to get bigger than normal before transplanting outdoors.

  • what web site that you had used to get the coco pods

  • Do you know by chance what I can use to make my soil more acidic? I going to be growing blueberry bush from seeds,I heard that they like acidic soil..I heard that peat moss is good, but where I live I can't find any..I also heard that coffee grounds works but don't know how true this is..and good luck with your new exotic seeds.I would like to grow then one day too.. :-)

  • @OpenYourTruth Used coffee grounds will work fine. I have no idea just how much to use though.

  • @OpenYourTruth

Mulching with pine needles will work. It might take a while though to decompose. To speed it up you can shredded it or if you can find it; buy pine needle/bark compost

  • @pauluminous That would work out great, there are thousands of pine trees where I live..I just need to have Patience until it turns in to compost.. thank you for your tip..

  • So the seeds you peeled had already been fermented for a few days?

  • @myastroflight No. Fermenting kills the viability of the seeds. These seeds were fresh out of the pod a few minutes before. They went from a pod to the soil within an hour.

  • Thanks Ray, you brought back memory of my child hood, I use to like the tast of the seed coating, I lived on the Seychelles Island in the Indian Ocean briefly as a child, we have coco plants there. We use to eat the outer covering of the seeds. My cousins tried to make chocolate with the seeds. It did taste like chocolate but with bits in it . It also produce a white fat like butter that melts in the mouth. It grows into a litle tree, and fruits in one of the most amaizing way.

  • Good luck with those.

  • haha you gave me something else to grow :)

  • I totaly forgot you was going to do this I'm glad the vids are not taken down right away or at all, I'll look forward to the updates. thanks for sharing hope your feeling better soon.

  • Don't let your dogs get ahold of the seeds or the husks. It's very bad for them and can kill them. It also makes for good cat repellent. Cocoa mulch or mulch with some cocoa in it (husk parts) are also lethal for dogs. It contains theobromine.

  • Only you could come up with the alien tongue, lol. Great info on the coco, btw I love chocolate too.

  • By the way, Ray.... have I told you lately that I LOVE your intro?!?! Giggling with turkeys should be a form of therapy for depression and such!

  • wait. what are you planning to do with the plants, even if you get the seeds to sprout?

  • @adeelnkhan I'm going to have a chocolate forest in my house. :)

  • when u said exotic i thought u ment like cocunut or banana

  • You might be confusing cacao with cocoa. Cocoa beans is the fermented product. What you have is cacao beans. Then there's coca which is something else completely. Anyway, this channel is awesome. I so want to see what the plants look like. Great video.

  • Be carefull, cacao plants are used to make cocaine.

  • @HomeworkHelper1 You're thinking of "Coca" plants. These are "Cacao" plants. Similar spelling but vastly different plants. :)

  • @Praxxus55712 Then why are there traces of cocaine in chocolate?

  • @HomeworkHelper1 There is no cocaine in chocolate. They are produced from entirely different types of plants that are in no way shape or form related. Cacao plants are no more related to coca plants than they are related to watermelon. :)

  • @Praxxus55712 I must have been lied to then. But my question is why does it activate tthe pleasure centers of our brains like opiuds do?

  • @HomeworkHelper1 It does it via three chemicals found in chocolate. tryptophan, phenylalanine, and tyrosine. In a nutshell, chocolate has chemicals that act as an antidepressant It causes the brain to produce dopamine which makes you feel good. I don't know much about how cocaine works except that it messes with the natural flow of Dopamine in your brain, which causes an excess of dopamine trapped between transmitters. This give the euphoric feel. Not the same process as cocoa produces though.

  • @Praxxus55712 This is a little off topic, but did you get the message i sent you?

  • @HomeworkHelper1 Which message are you referring to? A private message or a comment message. You'll have to narrow it down for me. lol

  • @Praxxus55712 I'm talking about the personal message where I talked about some gardening tips I learned about.

  • good gawd Ray, your knife "skills" scared the bejeepers out of me, I thought for sure I was going to witness something tragic! ;-)

    Mike

  • @RookieGardner LOL Thanks!

ps: Professional cook for 15 years. :)

  • It looked like a football to me... but I guess.. that's just me?

  • @MRSketch09 A chocolate football! The best kind. :)

  • Hi Ray just wanna say i love ur garden =) and i know u maby dont wanna say it in the video but where did u buy the coco seeds? and 1 more q have u ever had those small bananaflies in ur home? how do i get rid of them? thanx 4 all ur vids // Putte

  • @prosits Tune in for the update video in a couple of days. I have a surprise to show people and some info. :)

  • The same thing is with avocado seeds, you cant let them dry out....

  • Hi ray i was just wondering if you could send me one cocoa plant when it sprouts? I live in the uk and in exchange I will send you a lychee plant

  • Hey

  • Oh, I can't wait to see if these sprout. We're going to have to bug you for that cocoa pod source if they do!

  • Once the seedlings are strong enough, can they be shipped? If so, I would like 3 plants please. Can't wait to see how this turns out.

  • Argh! It's a body snatcher!

    Richard of Danbury

  • wow ; so neat. please post a link where we can purchaes these. - thanks

  • wow... all of this was new information to me. and your knife skills were scary. ~Amanda

  • Ray, whatever you do DO NOT go to sleep!! LOL you might wake up a pod person, hehe...that looked like some kinda alien umbilical cord in that thing..I swear I said, "oh wow, look at that!" at the exact time u said it, hahaha..amazing..can't wait to see what these things look like growing..make sure u do follow ups...((Hugs)) Angie

  • soo funny! when you were cutting it open i was thinking of Aliens the movie! good luck with them. cant wait to see them grow. You do inspire me. thanks Ray!

  • lol it's alive lol

  • Can't wait to hear how they do! It's like voyeurism for gardeners aha =]

  • I'm growing a polish linguisa tomato seedling in my sunny window right now! Never gave a thought to a cacao tree or whatnot. Good luck!

  • Hopefully they didn't send a coca plant by mistake. Hate to see what a strung out leaf chewing Praxxus55712 would look like.

  • You should start one of the seeds in a one of the cocao pod halves.

  • I think you need a hot climate to grow them Ray. My dad has a few cocoa trees in our house in Sri Lanka. And Sri Lanka is near the Equator lol. Are you going to try it grow it in a huge pot?

  • Drill some holes in the second coco pod and then u could use it as a pot!!!!

  • Very cool!

  • Wild Geranium root will take care of that cold sore. I almost bought a cocoa plant off ebay but it was to cold to ship. Do you grow the vanilla bean orchid? Get well soon!

  • No way, that's a seed pod. If so, then WoW!

  • awesome!!! those grow on my moms land in the philippines..you would go crazy there with all the weird seeds and fruits
