Who to blame? Themselves. The users have ownership of keeping the place clean and the equipment in working conditions. Look at the place full of items all thrown everywhere, dirty drain not even clean up and many more. These poor living standards were never there prior to the start of the dormintory. It was caused by those living there themselves and what is worst it that they are not borther to rectify them and can stand living in it!!!!! What dirty people they really are!!!
There is so many foreigners in Singapore is because alot of jobs,Singaporeans don't want to do. If let say a hawker stall,no Singaporeans want to work at,then how? No hawker stall liao is it? It can't be no one working at the stall,so we should find a worker. If Singaporean don't want to be worker then how? No one work? So we should ask foreigner to do the job.
Singapore although having the highest income per capita in Asia has a very large gap between poor and rich, like HK. This eye-catching wealth is very attractive for other people in Asia (China, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc.) and when they come they are absolutely not living as they excepted...
the narrator's Chinese is awful !!!! The whole time I was watching this video, I was thinking "this guy is from China, and his Chinese sucks this much ?!" I couldn't even concentrate on the squalor he was living in ; all I could think about was how much his Chinese sucked
wonder why they dont just fix it themselves? I mean its not really such a difficult thing to do? Do they expect the employer to hire someone to fix it for them?
You can see the new living quarters of the workers on another you tube link posted by the contractors. It won't let me post the link, but if you type in 'foreign workers cairnhill' in the search engine - the video will come up.
U all blind is it? U donch know that Bangla-deshi rubbish cleaners oso live in rubbish dumps in HDB estates? The Banglas might have de-sensitized their noses, but Singaporeans are eyes wide shut! When it's time for Govt to decide to clean up, u can be sure of coverage on RazorTV, OKTO and blogTV. In Singapore - just follow lor.
gosh. this is horrible. they are already earning so much from this development. i am sure they can afford to spare 0.0000001% of their budget to improve the workers' living conditions!
The irony is just too glaring to bear. I would like to believe that the footage of these so-called dormitories were taken from a slum in a developing country. However, I have to say in all honesty that I have come across similar situations - and the worst part of my experience was that the people who showed me the dormitories actually claimed that it was good for these workers' standards! Sigh!

Yes. the employer should fix it for them. because under the law the employer is responsible for their housing.

Singapore is a big exploiter of cheap foreign labor. It might be clean and flashy, but its underclass, the foreign workers, live in virtual slums.

Excellent video. Time for us to do something instead of turning a blind eye to these horrific standards.
