  • a think patrick stump covers the vocals better, but thats just my opinion lol

  • Love this song. Makes me feel so happy for some reason. Ian Curtis was great.

  • It's a funny feeling to know even after all

of us are gone people in hundred years

will still listen to this classic and have

the same emotions we have today.

    RIP Ian

  • its a nice feeling that the music we love today will still have significance in years to come. just so long as this generic pop industry we have now doesn't kill it, and if we teach or children to appriciate good, honest music.

  • I love how Ian keeps his fingers on the G chord throughout

  • Perfection. Listening to this song reminds us that all is lost. ok, maybe that is a wee melodramatic, but it sure reminds ya of getting dumped.

  • Que lastima, el suicidio del vocalista, seguro que podrian haber llegado muy lejos.......

  • best best song ever! the better it gets the better it gets. lol. focus on joy! xx

  • Das Glukken Gruppe

  • best song ever :P

  • people are not usually aware of how close we were to never seeing or hearing this song - let alone seeing Ian in its video.

  • Yeah and it debuted after he passed huh? Must have had a little sad tinge back then, even though the song is so good, to see it knowing that.

  • Very big thx for this great Video !!!

  • este video va acumplir 30 años y cada vez que lo veo mas me parece tan contemporeanos su realizacion , su musica y su mensaje .

  • All I need is to discover something like this song: a little coin, deep buried under the dusts of time.

One of my firs songs. So 80's ... was i 8 ? LOL i'm old.

  • zajebiste od lat kooooooocham!

  • what year was this released?

  • originally in April 1980. Then re-released in 1995 and then again in 2007

  • ah thanx ya cause i couldn't really find the exact date anywhere it was confusing

  • and he commited suicide a month later

  • P.S Just enjoy the music

  • ..and if both of you were truly clever you would know that it often wiser to be silent than to correct a silly misdemeanour. It's much harder to hide IQ than to go shouting about it....from an old granny bear tired of people who squabble over petty things

  • i watch the film 'control' the other day. RIP ♥

  • watched*

  • this is the best song i have ever heard

  • one of my favorites too, but i really like the smiths also...i suppose both are among my favorite groups!

  • Ay Dios mio...voy a llorar!!!! :(

  • joy division is good but.. new order is better!

  • eh i don't think so. i think joy division would've become new order had Ian Curtis not killed himself tho. i dont listen to much new order tho.

  • what? no way!

New order is fucking great but Joy Division is mother fucking beastly!!!

New Order pretty much comes from Joy Division, anyway!

    Joy Division = Favorite band<3

  • you speak true words.

  • Liked joy division

    but love new order

  • did they brake up !

  • no... ian curtis hanged himself

so the other members formed new order..

    HOW CLEVER AM I?! haha

  • if you were truly clever u would know he hung himself he never hanged himself

  • Actually, if you were truly clever you would actually know that hanged is the correct term as opposed to the popular incorrect use of the word hung.

  • OOHHH YUUUUSS :D

and for a 15 year old i am pretty clever for wanting to know more about him... show initiative haha

  • @blatesKgal in your 15 years old you got an excellente taste in music... very good man!!!

    Joy Division FOREVER!!

  • actually i aint too bright but i dont care coz i have fun but know about grammer so up you you cunt

  • It's a Vox Phantom

  • to translate below me what classic guitar playing by Ian Curtis

  • Actually, more like: What kind of guitar does Ian Curtis plays?

    Trust me,Im hispanic.

  • Qué clase de guitarra toca Ian Curtis????

  • @505telecaster (translating now back to spanish)

La guitarra es una Vox Phantom. (Más precisamente una Vox Phantom VI Special.)

  • Gracias por colgarla. TEMAZO...

  • I feel the same way

  • This song takes you to another place. Its incredible

  • The song is.... hopeful?

R.I.P. Ian, you truly touched the sound of music in ways no-one else could. We miss you every time we hear your songs. Rest in peace.

  • I dont find this song hopeful I find it dark, very dark.

  • legend of a song...

takes u to a different place wen u get into it

  • os caras eram demais!!!

  • boy thats a daft thing to say...

  • woop wooop go Ian Curtis

  • singer looks like tom hanks from an angle at the begining if video.

  • i can never listen to the killers again.

    10x better

  • lmao, thats what happened to me.

  • hermosa cancion grangrupo joy division y que cabron era ian curtis !!!!! que viva el rock !!!

  • its just so, alive.

  • Once someone told me it was a song of desperation.

As for me it has always been a song of hope.

  • la cancion mas hermosa de la vida

  • Giggs...

Giggs will tear you apart (again)...

    Giggs...

Giggs will tear you apart (again)...

  • dint know there was a "original" vid 4 this r u fing kdng me? wvr

  • I can finally completly understand and relate to this song.

  • Esta canción es LO MÁXIMO.

  • i fucking LOVE joy division

  • GRANDISSIMI!!!

    Erano avanti di 20 anni..

    che nostalgia...

  • The anthem of Joy Division and one of the greatest songs ever.

    RIP Ian Curtis.

  • he died!?

damn and I just got into them :(

  • hahaha! are you joking?

  • @Astartes40000 LMAO, late much?

  • pretty much :(

  • Hung himself in '80 unfortunately :(

  • 1 month after this video was filmed

  • lmfao... thats not sad at all

  • This song represents the essence of humanity...Thank you Joy Division....

  • R.I.P. Ian

  • Fell in love with this song the first time I heard it. Bought JD's greatest hits, was so dissapointed, no other song sounds like this. This is new wave, the rest was punk. Then I found out about New Order. Oh thank you God. That was exactly what I wanted. Perfect.

  • Probably should have done your research then? It's not punk anyway, it's post-punk. Joy Division were two very different bands when recording and playing live. A certain Martin Hannett ensured that.

  • WTF is post punk? Was still worth buying for this song alone.

  • i am a jew and a diehard fan of joy division. their title and their other references to nazism do not strike me as an endorsement, in any sense

  • joy division are pure excellence :)

    but quite a weird name,

apparantly something to do with a division in nazi germany is what i was told ??? :/

    that might bollocks though

  • the joy division were agroup of women in the concentration camps who were used as prostitutes, i've always felt uncomfortable with this and a lot of JD's flirtation with fascism.. but i can't help loving their music.. i'm 44 now and jd have been my fave band since i first heard them in 1979,and i don't care, if zac efron, whoever the fuck he is, likes them tyhen it shows he's got some good taste.. as have u lot .. keep the faith..

  • great

  • Bing Crosby would have taken a whack at this song had lived long enough to hear it.

  • I luv this ...

  • man i love this song,"and ambitions are low"

  • This songs so sad after watching the movie "Control" :(

  • ARE U FUCKIN SHITTIN ME?

  • No, I am not "shittin" you. In an interview he was asked what music he likes and this was a band he siad. Ok? Got a problem with it?

  • hey no need to get all defensive just cant belive that toss bag would like joy division

  • Zac Efron just want's to butt fuck Ian Curtis

  • CLASSIC!

  • I...............would not want to be FAIRYTALESparis right now........What's wrong witchew, FTp ??? A tidal wave is headed your way, dude / dude-ette, whichever. Whatever. Ian C. - forever and always.

  • Check out the peel sessions version, drums truly kick ass!

  • Timeless tune and a top class band, Ian curtis would have been an asset to any band.

    FAIRYTALESparis needs a slap!

  • FAIRYTALESparis FUCK YOU!!!!

  • FAIRYTALESparis are you being serious!! ian is a fucking amazing singer!! piss off with your retarted comments!

  • You like it..... then they need a new singer??? .... go and cuddle up to your Bay City Roller Albums Fuckpig!!

  • bought the 12 incher on plastic back in the 1980s

  • i think this song is great, good lyrics, i love the keyboard. but fall out boy's cover takes all of the greatness out of this song. i mean way to ruin a great song, fall out boy.

  • The drummer from fall out boy is fucking wank-piece prick piece of shit motherfucker.

  • It's an amazing song with great lyrics , thats why

  • but they have much better out there

  • thank you. the dicks writing about fall out boy... who cares............... joy division rocked and rip. f##k off idiots that want to compare this amazing band to fall out who...............

  • I don't know why this is their most popular. i really don't

  • That first guitar line instantly takes me to a good place.

  • the dury will always be out for the most understated yet finest song of all time.. i think this songs puts everthin than the world understands.. love n hurt into perfect perspective.... gets my vote!

  • Just beautiful... Pure emotion...

  • VERY GOOD!

Fall Out Boy do a cover of this. See it, its good too ;)

  • please for the lfe of me, go kill yourself. please, if the sun comes up on a knew day with u in it, its not worth it.. my god i havent felt this sad in such a long time. why why fall out boy why. im sure u were a good person at one point. its all gone. please its so easy go end it

  • The best break up lyrics ever.

  • one of those songs that go so deep under the skin. love.

  • watch the film 'Control' people.

Sam Riley does an amazing job at playing Ian.

  • a great movie, sam riley is so ian.

  • ya que todos ponen sus palabras inglesas, me doy el derecho a decir lo siguiente: EL AMOR NOS VOLVERA A SEPARAR NUEVAMENTE

love will tear us apart again

  • CLASIK!

  • good ol' dependable joy division

  • 2.5 million views? thats a little to mainstream for me.

i think im going to go look bored and non-chalant downtown while dicking around on my mac

  • listen to 'digital', its only got 150 thou views at most ;)

  • gr4eat vid!... i also love the Nouvelle Vague version... good stuff......

  • We will never forget Ian Curtis. He was one of the greatest musicians have ever lived. Now he lives in the flat share of the living dead with Kurt, Bob, Shannon, Jimi, Johnny, Hillel, Sid, Janis and so on.

  • Nunca nadie igualara a Ian ,el mas grande :)

  • was there a film done of ian curtis lately???

  • yes indeed, it calls "control"

  • and it is crap!

  • If you like this, then get hold of a copy of Joy Division's "Unknown Pleasures", it will blow you away, promise..........This album has Ian Curtis baring his soul, it's a searingly and hauntingly beautiful record..........

  • extraoirdanaria cancion

  • White Lies were influenced by them, so were The Killers, you can hear it...

  • HAHA!

  • Simplemente maravillosa y entrañable.

  • This is the sound of my youth. I went to the same school as Ian and this is the most poignant epitaph I can ever contemplate

  • this song is the best song ever i havent heard anything that topps it

  • the killers are so influenced by this band....still Joy Division remains the best

  • Everyone thinks that The Killers were influenced by Joy Division but I read an interview with Brandon Flowers and he said he was not into Joy Division. Instead he was a fan of New Order. He thought that JD was too dark at the time. It was Anton Corbijn who personally asked The Killers to do the cover of Shadowplay for the movie Control.

  • This band has been so influential to so many great contemporary artists. It's amazing.

  • Joy Division-Love will tear us apart

    Magazine-Shot by both sides

The Smiths-there is a light that never goes out. My Manchester Top 3!

  • Ian curtis :) gran legado a la musika!!! esto es rock gotico en su true expresion!!!

  • It seems to me when he sang this song, he already knew that happens then...

  • I grew up with this sounds..think it was in the beginning of the 80´s..

  • released in April 1980

  • this band has inspired sooo amny others

  • wundervoll

  • Canción entrañable.

  • No one can deny that this is just pure perfection.

  • CULT!!!

  • Great sandwich!

  • beautiful

  • I love this song

    Amo esta canción

  • This Is Just... THE Song... It Captures Everything...It's On A Different Level To Anything Else....

  • Current bands don't come anywhere near the quality of bands such as Joy Division, New Order or The Cure.

  • A fu*****ing classic

  • GENIAL

  • Fuck off Bono is tha biggest incompetent knob jockey of all-time. His cover of this song was hell.

  • I could not agree more Bono is a dickhead and he butchered iam the walrus in across the universe too

  • Yeah,I would have to agree.

Bono, has not been good since like the 80's.

  • Ugh. Bono.

Phil Lynnot. Now theres a man. :L

  • i feel all the pain in his voice

  • love love will tear us apart again!

    i love this song :)

  • one word to describe this.. amazing

  • Amazing song!!!

    British rock rules!!!

  • el amor nos destrozaraaaaaa otra vez

  • Indeed, one really wonders how much potential Joy Division would have had if Ian hadn't killed himself (allegedly over a girl...making this song eerily prophetic)...for his death spawned the much larger New Order sans Curtis's talent. Had Curtis lived, Joy Division might have become as big as U2 or other legends of the 80's.

  • dont think he would have been as big a twat as bonio though

  • That's true. A lot of people don't realize this, but Bono's (and Geldof) Live Aid benefit concert was credited by Doctors Without Borders as causing the death of thousands, because the money raised was given to the Ethiopian Marxist government, that used it to buy weapons, thus extending their civil war by 7 years (I sent reseach links to the Nobel committee in Oslo when Bono was nominated , to torpedo him on the grounds that ignorance can enable horror, and should not be rewarded).
