A reluctant pop star if ever there was one. But I don't remember hearing that funky guitar ending before? A bit cheesy. That's probably (partly) why he committed suicide..
Fell in love with this song the first time I heard it. Bought JD's greatest hits, was so dissapointed, no other song sounds like this. This is new wave, the rest was punk. Then I found out about New Order. Oh thank you God. That was exactly what I wanted. Perfect.
Probably should have done your research then? It's not punk anyway, it's post-punk. Joy Division were two very different bands when recording and playing live. A certain Martin Hannett ensured that.
the joy division were agroup of women in the concentration camps who were used as prostitutes, i've always felt uncomfortable with this and a lot of JD's flirtation with fascism.. but i can't help loving their music.. i'm 44 now and jd have been my fave band since i first heard them in 1979,and i don't care, if zac efron, whoever the fuck he is, likes them tyhen it shows he's got some good taste.. as have u lot .. keep the faith..
I...............would not want to be FAIRYTALESparis right now........What's wrong witchew, FTp ??? A tidal wave is headed your way, dude / dude-ette, whichever. Whatever. Ian C. - forever and always.

We will never forget Ian Curtis. He was one of the greatest musicians have ever lived. Now he lives in the flat share of the living dead with Kurt, Bob, Shannon, Jimi, Johnny, Hillel, Sid, Janis and so on.
If you like this, then get hold of a copy of Joy Division's "Unknown Pleasures", it will blow you away, promise..........This album has Ian Curtis baring his soul, it's a searingly and hauntingly beautiful record..........
Everyone thinks that The Killers were influenced by Joy Division but I read an interview with Brandon Flowers and he said he was not into Joy Division. Instead he was a fan of New Order. He thought that JD was too dark at the time. It was Anton Corbijn who personally asked The Killers to do the cover of Shadowplay for the movie Control.
Indeed, one really wonders how much potential Joy Division would have had if Ian hadn't killed himself (allegedly over a girl...making this song eerily prophetic)...for his death spawned the much larger New Order sans Curtis's talent. Had Curtis lived, Joy Division might have become as big as U2 or other legends of the 80's.
That's true. A lot of people don't realize this, but Bono's (and Geldof) Live Aid benefit concert was credited by Doctors Without Borders as causing the death of thousands, because the money raised was given to the Ethiopian Marxist government, that used it to buy weapons, thus extending their civil war by 7 years (I sent reseach links to the Nobel committee in Oslo when Bono was nominated , to torpedo him on the grounds that ignorance can enable horror, and should not be rewarded).
a think patrick stump covers the vocals better, but thats just my opinion lol
