I saw the 1 or 2 hour long documentary on Shackelton. Absolutely amazing. And he didn't lose 1 man. Even with today's equipment I don't if many could do the same thing.

A female Shackelton or who demonstrated the same courage and bravery was the gal who sailed 1500 miles of the Pacific alone in a wrecked sailboat yacht. Her book is "Red Sky in Mourning." That was aired on satellite TV. If you haven't seen it it's worth the watch. She was only 27. 44 days alone with little water & food.
