AHH hell yeah!! havent checked out krantz' group in at least a few years now... i used to be obSESSED with this shit... 'greenwich mean' took me completely out of jazz when i was young and impressionable first got to berklee, had me ignoring my classes and trying to find a way to play music like this without sounding like a ripoff... eventually i found keith jarrett and kurt rosenwinkel and got back into straight ahead jazz... but this player and this music is fucking AMAZIng...
why did he stop playing there? Seeing these guys made me wanna play music (and sometimes made me hate myself for sucking). Come back. ALso, has anyone checked out his book?
I think wayne has a unique voice and should some how bring into a more mainstream situation. So a mass of people can endure it. And wayne you still owe mw a lesson I payed for....
this video is why his music is not more accessible commercially or the music they play in the video is the reason it isn't more available commercially?
if you read the article in guitar player about the improvisational strategies he uses while playing you will have a whole new appretiation for his music
i was at this show. mindblowing experience

drummer in a bar and over the bar at the same time ;)
guess he has to be to sync up with Wayne, whose sense of rhythm is gone! What Wayne is doing there after the drums come back in at 1:39 is sweet!

I just love Wayne. Like Bill Frisell, he has such a unique and defined sound and a way of playing....and he plays with some balls

Anyone know how Wayne does financially? Does he make money doing work on Broadway, etc. that he doesn't publicize?

The only reason i went to the 55 Bar when I was in NYC was to see Wayne. Fuck what a tragic loss to the NYC scene.

I really enjoy Wayne. So in the moment. Great art. I wish his music was more accessible commercially though.

Great stuff. Wayne is amazing. Better sounding recording than the montreal jazz fest one, too.
