This was so awesome and LOVED your sense of humor in your text editing boxes along the way! Very beautiful cake! My nieces 7 yr old would LOVE this! She's very much into the tie dye thing right now :) Thank you so much for sharing!
@CasreCupcakes The first part is to show the order of colors when you're mixing so you can just use one bowl without the previous color tainting the next color. For red I use orange, rose, and no-taste red, it gives a really bright red color without it tasting bad.
I wanted to make tie-dye cupcakes for my son's birthday this week so I made some test cupcakes this weekend and they turned out really cute!!! Thanks for the video, it was very helpful!!!
People tell me i am retarded all the time when I say red tastes nasty if you dont use the right color product. its a bakers thing i guess or is it just me?
That was so much fun!! Thank you so much for sharing this! I absolutely love the idea of the rainbow border! I learn so much from your videos that I don't learn from others! Thank you again! I think your just FAB!!!
Hi! Beautiful cake and frosting! =] what do you do with your left over frosting in the bags and such? Do you discard it or save it for later use. I Always have left over frosting wether it be white or colored and I'm never sure if I can save it for later use and if I can, do I save it in the piping bags or take it out? Thanks!
Thanks for the tips....this video was A LOT of help. I did however learn a trick for the tie dye ON the cake. I used fondant circles (after the fondant hardened) did the tie dye pattern, then put the fondant circle on the cake :-) worked like a charm.....
@seriouscakes I would really appreciate that. It looks like the perfect tool to smooth. I have a confession. The first time I saw you smooth a cake with a viva towel, I thought you were crazy. Then I tried it and now I'm hooked.
Great instructions, will definately give this ago, I have a friend who is into hippie clothing. Not a look I like but thank God we have people with different tastes to get us to do things we would normally not do. Cheers
my fave is the top! and how did you make the inside tie die?! did you make it rainbow cake! i have made rainbow cupcakes once, they were really good, and i liked your cupcakes!
@ellenfizz I separated the batter and colored it, then just kind of plopped different colors all around the pans. Once the pan was filled I took a fork and ran it through the batter to lightly mix the colors together.
@SeriousCakes thanks for the recipe , or well not actuall recipe but thanks for letting me know how to do it!!!!!!! it sounds cooler than normal rainbow ones.
awesum! i made my own b-day cake out of fondant. it wuz like a mario themed cake with gumpaste figurines......lol. it took me 2 days to finish cuz im a bored teenager with nothing better to do~
dying! that cake is freaking amazing!! where do you learn all these tricks from? i would have never thought of blending the colors first before dragging the toothpick through them!
@tyleroreilly I read a lot :D I've seen people drag a toothpick through melted chocolate or royal icing to get this effect, I thought it would probably work on buttercream too if I worked fast enough.
very nice, I love it. I would actually love to do a 2 tiered cake with the top tier being entirely tie-dyed like that.... I can't imagine how I'd do it, but AWESOME! I also did a version of your cake with the swirls on it, I did a light purple cake with dark purple swirls on the board and the top and then did dragonflies flying in a circle on top. ;) I wish I would have gotten a picture.
@seriouscakes Another great video. I have a question off subject from this video. Where did you get the blue scraper you use to smooth cakes? It looks like a large plastic razor blade. I'm having trouble finding something I really like. Thanks for the help.
@feltwiener69 I've only seen them once in stores, Target a few years ago and of course when I realized it was an awesome tool they stopped selling them. I contacted the manufacturer and they only sell them in quantities of 500 lol, so I bought a box of 500 and am now selling them! I'll send you the information if you're interested.
You know at 6:05 when you kept changing tips over, that can become tedious when you have a large cake to decorate. So if you fill one side of a piping bag with one colour and the otherside with another colour then as you pip the two colours will pipe together and fade in and out :) x
@1234safia hey! don't get depress! i bet the flavor was incredible still! don't forget practice makes perfection! u will be amazing in your next projects! a little bit at a time... but dont forget to practice :)
I love the border! I'm a huge fan of rainbows, and glad you did the rainbow in the right order! All in all though the whole cake is awesome. Really need to get back in and try it more.
thnx!:D
