  • @tetiontkon I thought I knew how good this song was (10/10) until I just read those lyrics while listening. It's like I took a seat and watched an entire movie in 3 mins ,17 secs. I bought her album the day it came out and have been listening to it faithfully. Many thanks for the new experience.

  • Favorite song ever this song is just Pure Beauty

  • This woman found her calling.

That's really all I can think to say about Janelle Monáe. And don't get me started on her live performances!!

  • Honestly, I thought this was some Fleet Foxes song (Even though it's clearly a woman's voice), but I was pleasantly surprised when I found out it was Janelle Monae.

  • This song will never fail to make me cry. Especially the ending. Archandroid in its entirety is so beautiful!!!

  • I live in the ATL and I saw Janelle play in many of the venues here in the ATL before she secured a deal. We knew back then she was astounding. I'm so grateful she never gave up or gave in. This project is beyond the cosmos. This piece was exquistely written and beautifully performormed, as is the rest is this STELLAR project. I look forward to what she'll create in the future. We're proud of ya Janell!!

  • Love this song too much. epic album.

  • One by one It's your time Lead us all back to one The sun has come May your light lead us all back to one Indivisible sum Here's the book now the saga's begun I wonder if I'm (You're the one) Am I the one? Anthony Greendown your Cindi Mayweather will always be waiting for you Just as sure as the sunlight keeps beaming on your eyes she'll always be waiting for you
  • @tetiontkon love that part :') x

  • Cold in the cell lost and shivering

    Gunshots in hallways unknown

On the fifth floor, past the blue door

    Sat a chained 57821

Sir Greendown told his dear Cindi

    Fight like Achilles in Troy

"I will show you the ways that I love you

I saved you so you'd save the world

    Cause you're the only one"

  • One by one

    It's your time

Lead them both back to one

    The sun has come

May your light lead them both back to one

    Indivisible sum

Here's the book now the saga's begun

He wonders if she is the one

    (You're the one)

    You're the one.

  • Early each morning he searched for her

Til his feet become bloody and tired

Her hologram photo stayed near to him

Buried deep in the pits of his heart

The lock of grey hair that she gave to him

Stayed clutched in his fist through the night

Dead or alive, she still yearned for him

Cause even in darkness there's light, oh and

  • This song makes me feel like an infant, in the time of jesus

  • Just read that she's releasing two albums next year...

  • "I will show you the ways that I love you

I saved you so you'd save the world"

Oh, this song, those words, this woman: I swear she's blessed with divine beauty and creativity. To tell such a beautiful story of an android who dared to defy society's unorthodox rules & feel and love with soul which is what they said was impossible for her kind and is the key of saving the world and put it in songs with many different genres: SHE IS AN ARTIST! This woman is Venus, she truly outshines other stars.

  • This track embodies art, exists in a nebulous space in time, not really in the present, past or even the future in which the plot is set in. This pays testament to the virtuosity of Janelle Monae, a track which borrows from the old but is reinvented beyond the realms of time. Aesthetically boundless. Janelle Monae you are a prominent thrival.

  • When her next album comes out, so help me God, she will be larger than any artist currently out there.

  • anthony greendown, your cindy mayweather will always be waiting for you.... sure as the sun light keeps beaming ion your eyes, she'll always be waiting for you

  • thumbs up if you think Janelle's gonna be huge

  • Haunting.

  • Doesn't Nate sing with her on this one! I can clearly hear him on here :) It is a Deep Cotton collabo so most likely, lol That boy has an amazing falsetto OMG!

  • 2:55 "Anthony Greendown, your Cindy Mayweather will always be waiting for you..."

    That line haunts me everytime.

  • sooo weird but soo good! i love ms monae:)

  • song is so beautiful and peace omfg :P love it <3

  • maybe she's just...Janelle Monae

  • Like Janelle? Check out "ZEPHANIAH- SAVE ME KNOW" --- HOT New Artist

  • @steveopalm checked it out, don't direct me us to anymore gay material please...thanks

  • Wow, I never thought she would take this route.......celtic style caught me offguard. Nice one. Any other celtic music like this????

  • @1977wallace this isn't Celtic. Folk, yes. Celtic, no.

  • *teardrop* I Obsessed over this song ! <3 <3<3

  • This song is so beautiful.. I feel like I'm relaxing in an enchanted forest....

  • "anthony greendown your cindy mayweather will always be waiting for you. just as sure as the sunlight keeps beaming on you i shall always be waiting on you." astonishing how good these lyrics are! and sung so heavenly.

  • Sharliza is a crazier version of Janelle Monae! Type in No Go Pogo and you'll see what I mean...

  • I love her use of reference material! "Sir Greendown told his dear Cindy, 'Fight like Achilles in Troy.'" For some reason, that line blows me away every time. And the Simon & Garfunkel sound was surprising but perfect!

  • Get back to me when Ke$ha or any other mainstream bimbos write a song as good as this.

  • @5AU5AGEROLL No need for slut-shaming to appreciate how awesome Janelle is :)

  • @5AU5AGEROLL Lady Gaga and her have one thing in common. Their fashion sense.

  • @5AU5AGEROLL that is very unlikely seeing as they are two completely different genres

  • @5AU5AGEROLL That will be never!

  • Though this song reminds of a lot of others, it is still so individual and beautiful!

  • this song reminds me of a daydream

  • - Veeeery melodic , i absolutely love this .

  • SO BEAUTIFUL. Janelle = Ja-genius x

    Reminds me of Godspell.

  • awesome is she! So creative and talented.

  • Why the fuck am I just now getting around to listening to this?

  • @iamedgargraham right! im tellin myself the same exact thing!!!!!!

  • Incredible, inspiring, beautiful, intoxicating, absorbing, complex, aetherial, perfect.

  • this sounds like some kind of folk music from pagan times

  • I wish they would make her albums in a full length feature film with her songs as the soundtrack! That would be amazing to see! I would totally go see that movie.

  • WHO is this lonely 1 dislike??? has to be someone who just doesn't get it...

  • @TurkeyJones91 totally

  • - i love this song (^_^)

  • @gerry909 that is exactly the feel i got. u took the words right outta my mouth.

  • Journey with the in the #lovemovement

  • it's a religious inspired piece......

  • @MrAddemUP is it really?? a song about love between a man and an android??

  • This song is just amazing

  • @fuzzberry2 Push a giant metal pole up her ass greased with oil and light the match.

  • @DjKraveJa I like the way you think! I agree with you!

  • @DjKraveJa damn...you are one demented person LOL Who thinks of something like that?? :S

  • The person who disliked this needs to be found, castrated, burnt and buried alive in a casket filled with hot oil.

  • @DjKraveJa All this horrific punishment for merely disliking this (rather tame & childish) piece of music? (No, it wasn't me who voted a "dislike" - who cares what the largely braindead masses think.)

Are you drawing inspiration from the witch-burning eras of earlier centuries, where reclusive women were put on a burning pyre because they owned a black cat & facial warts?

  • @umaralansari I think you're reading a little too much into his comment, where's your sense of humour?

  • @umaralansari You think this song is tame and childish? I pity you.

  • @David1sBored Yes, it's pitiful isn't it. Tell me though, is it as pitiful as taking personal offense at an inoffensive comment made about someone completely unrelated to you? ;)

  • @umaralansari Saying you pity someone and saying they're pitiful are two different things. And I didn't take personal offence at your comment, I just found it to be a shame that you couldn't appreciate the music. Also, it could be said that the reason I commented on what you'd written was because you'd taken personal offence at a comment that had nothing to do with you on a video you're obviously wasting your time on. Just because you put a winking face doesn't mean you're not a hypocrite.

  • @David1sBored So I'm a "hypocrite"; that's not offensive either.

"I pity you" is easily taken as a condescending expression, as in "you're pitiful" (contemptible). You didn't know that? You could have easily removed the doubt by saying "it's a pity you think this song is [...]". Had you meant "I feel pity for you", does that sound better? Imagine someone saying that to you.

Did I take "personal offence" before? No.

As to reacting to a "comment that had nothing to do with you": pot vs kettle.

  • @umaralansari Wow, you really seem like an insufferable, patronising person. I'm just going to conclude that you're simply wrong and that you should stop thinking you're superior. There's no point in continuing to message an unreachable individual. Good day to you sir.

  • @David1sBored "I pity you" he said and calls *me* patronising. Remember, you started this 'exchange', unlooked for. Did I get into an argument with the other contributors above re my original comment? No. So ask yourself (rhetorically, if you don't mind): why with you?

    That's all she wrote (hopefully).

  • @DjKraveJa lmfao at your comment

  • Dreamy....

  • When I hear this song I'm thinking about the girl I love but can't get...

  • that one person that disliked thiss... will die a veryslow and painful death

  • she should make a vid 4 this...im picturing snow, dead of winter with lots of bright sunlight= haunting.

  • @jenn071000 - Agreed, the choral elements of this immediately reminded me of 'christmas carols', especially 'Good Kind Stephen'. This might be the most beautiful of her songs, thus far.

  • @jenn071000 no lol she should make a movie of her whole album :D so friggin amazing

  • @ChRiStFaNaTiC15

I agree, the first time I heard the album I felt it sounded so theatrical. I could see all her songs on soundtracks for different movies or heard in plays

  • I get a bit of a Doctor Who vibe from this song for some reason... In particular in reference to "Sattelite 5"...

    And, coincidentally... "Sat a chained 57821". Phonetically: "Sat A Tsjaind 57821" -> SAT 5.

    Weird.

  • @Firellius

    lmao what a reach

  • @kedordu I know. But whatever. XD

  • Is it just me, or does this song seem like a homage to Simon&Garfunkel (in particular Scarbourough Fair)?

Anyways this whole album is amazing.

  • @THEMANOUTOFTHECAVE I believe all of her songs are reflecting certain artist and genre's, almost a highlight of some of humanties best musical genre's. But yeah, Simon&Garfunkel is always what comes to mind when I hear this song.

  • @THEMANOUTOFTHECAVE Completely!

  • @THEMANOUTOFTHECAVE or vashti bunyan? definite folk influences!

  • @THEMANOUTOFTHECAVE yes! also reminds me of 'Sound of Silence'.

  • maskes me think of nancy sinatra and lee hazelwood.

  • very 60s folksy. nice.

  • This song is absolutely beautiful. Gorgeous harmony...slightly haunting melody. The ending lyrics are just precious. Janelle is so talented. I love her music.

  • ballerinas are dancing softly in my mind when i listen to this..

  • i really hate when there is wonderful music out here like this and i feel like i'm the last one to catch on!

  • This song pulls you in

  • who's the weirdo who doesn't like this?! how dare you !

  • this is soo relaxing

  • @glen448 yea i can just lay back and close my eyes and actually forget about the troubles of life lol

  • You're absolutely wrong about everything. And no it doesn't piss me off at all. If you want to be an idiot keep it up, I'm quite sure YOU'RE a pro at it.

  • this song is hauntingly beautiful, the harmonies in the chorus are perfect. i wish it was like 10 minutes!!!

  • Music was dead this decade. Thanks to Janelle Monae, music has risen from the dead.

  • Just look at her face... wow! Gorgeous woman. She's got the music to match it.

  • absolutely amazing...

  • Janelle Monae is an artist, she is part of a dying breed. I don't care if she doesn't become popular even though she's with (last time I checked) with bad boy records.

I love her and continue to love her, she established someone of a theme about this android and carried it over to this album, an made several references to it in this album it grabs you, in makes you want to keep listening.

    she's the best <3

  • I could honestly fall asleep to this song. It's so soothing and peaceful!

  • when i listen to this i feel like i am getting eaten by the song, but in the nicest way possible. lol

  • Sounds like the folkiness of the 60's! Awesome!

  • this song is sooo pretty, makes me tear up at the end

" anthony greendown your cindi mayweather will always be waiting for you, sure as the sunlight keeps beaming on your eyes, ill always be waiting for you"

  • she has definitely set the bar pretty high. The world of music needs this kind of innovation. Hopefully this will bring about more individuality in the music industry. I get so tired of these "diva" wannabe's and these "sex goddesses". This is definitely a breath of fresh air to all ears itching to hear some not only genuine but AUTHENTIC music. It's about time!

  • Janelle ,, the sweetest voice you'll ever hear - beautiful

  • like folk?? check out my video for "Vincent" a truly beautiful folk record!! thanks

  • that one person who disliked this obviously had a brain aneurysm while trying to click like and clicked dislike instead

  • This song is so pretty...

  • This song is absolutely beautiful. She finds the most creative ways to express herself through her music. I love her!

  • I listen to this on repeat a lot... one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard!

  • brings tears of joy to my eyes while listening this song :)

  • This is the only album I've been listening to for the last week or so.

  • watching the snow fall to this track. Amazing

  • A folk song from the future ..cool !! It's beyond belief that this album isn't on Time's top 10 album's list ?!?

  • i love this artist

  • Janelle Monae, this album & this song are incredible! but somewhere around 2:31 when she chants "you're the one, you're the one..." is so subtly powerful, i lose my breath every time i hear it. But it's the ending that always shifts my heart. Of all the love stories, songs and films, it's the last 20 seconds of 57821 that i find myself most connected to!

  • Hey to Janelle Monae and all her fans....can you please tell me....amazing music and talent aside....how can you inspire change in the world and then do a commercial for GAP - who use sweatshop labour and exploit children through inhumane working practices....GAP's record speaks for itself and it is not hard to find out the truth about them....Janelle should know better....any explanations happily heard....music and performances are great am certainly not knocking this...thanks

  • @MrBananas333 GAP had another company under them that they were paying to make shit for GAP. This Indian company used sweatshop labor. The president of GAP found out and fired the Indian company. it's the subcontractors who are making the mistakes. Not GAP. "Gap's own policy is that if it discovers children being used by contractors to make its clothes that contractor must remove the child from the workplace, provide it with access to schooling and a wage"

  • So IMO, Mr. Nana, Janelle Monae hasn't done anything wrong. All of her intentions are honest. She is a really passionate, good person from what I've read, heard in interviews, or heard in her music. No need to worry about this one.

  • @Notabulate Thank you for the email....I believe you are right about her form all that I have seen and heard so far....I just wish big companies and ad agencies would not try to gain credibility on the coat tails of genuine people....cheers....Mr.B

  • Sounds like the Mamas and the Papas

  • @GreatUnwashedMass yes, and i love mamas and papas

  • Comment removed

  • im view # 38,001 sweet. & many more.

  • What a great song.

Music aside, this woman is incredibly beautiful.

  • would love to see a video!

  • Shits raw.

  • hfuuyyhyuiu

  • Sounds like the Rotary Connection. good stuffs

  • So hard to listen and not cry.. Oh my gosh! Im captured.. Once again in the essence of Monae :)

  • 2:55 When she says "Anthony Greendown your Cindi Mayweather will always be waiting for you Just as sure as the sunlight beaming on your eyes I'll always be waiting for you"

    Thats the most beautiful part.

  • mogę tego słuchać i słuchać...

  • love it but, does she even sing on this one LOL.

  • The melody at the end melts my heart... it's odd but sweet.

  • I love how the title is the numbers she says at the end of Sincerely Jane... Sooo sooo intriguing!

  • @heyazacahey It's the code number of Cindi Mayweather :) It is.

  • @heyimtomato She's so damn interesting... I love it!

  • "I saved you so you'd save the world"

  • Flower Power....how late 60's of her. :)

  • This song has a very open and esoteric sound to it very soothing to the chakra system. Great vocal chorus arrangements.

  • ..i love this song.. its soothing and the arrangements are some of the best..

  • This was the first song I was able to listen to out of order on the album. Of course, it took about two months before I could shuffle through tracks without listening to the whole thing all the way through over and over again.

  • OMG...Why I haven't heard about this talented and beautiful woman. I've seen her albums, but never really paid them any mind. I am buying them all!!! She kinda favors Michelle from Destiny's Child on this album cover.

  • @JC032008 surprised you haven't heard about her. She's been out for a minute now. she just keeps getting better and better. check out some of her earlier stuff on youtube!

  • @chikkenfries I feel so ashamed, being that I am a lover of music and always looking for new artist. And I found out that I can download her new album off of Amazon for $5-I'm already on it! LOL

  • @JC032008 yes you should be ashamed. lol. j/k. one of my favorite songs of hers is " my favorite nothing". look it up.

  • When I first saw her on the BET awards I was like who is this chick? Then I heard the tightrope remix and was like WOW she is good...next thing you know I started to listen to her music and I LOVE IT,she has a very genuine and rare voice like something in a fairytale! I`m 16 and don't usually listen to music like this.Been playing her all week!

  • One of my favourites off the album xx

  • "I will show you the ways that i love you, i saved you so you'd save the world" :)

  • very different from the norm....great!!

  • Hope you guys agree, but a friend and I were talking and we think she should make a graphic novel and/or comic book series of the story of Anthony Greendown and Cindy Mayweather and their life in Metropolis

  • @g35shawty They did!

  • @g35shawty OMG...I was totally going to make characters for them both on this comic/rpg site I belong too...GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE

  • Terribly beautfiul, the entire album seems as if one big song since each song somewhat transcends to the next, and the wierd part is that every song gives their own vibe, genre, yet total monae. The robot sent to the past story conveyed in it is amazing. This song is just, aweness.

  • dreamy...beautiful

  • I met a girl who reminds me so much of Janelle Monae. I don't know which one I like/love better. lol

  • Beautiful... The lyrics about 57821 behind the blue door remind me of Nineteen Eight Four when Winston is in the Ministry of Love.

  • 0:50 thats the same words you hear in the overture lol

  • her voice is make me like flying in the universe
