Try saying that to Australia. They delay games almsot a year, and rarely ever release games there. It's stupid. Plus, the goverment is very undetailed about what they consider "violent".

If you don't believe a game like CoD or GTA doesn't promote violence, you are an idiot. Violent games can enable people to commit violent acts just as movies and music can.
Gamers only come in defense of games because, well, they're gamers.
@DoIphZiggler commiting violence in video games isn't the same as doing it in real life. like if I pick up a gun,I can't aim and shoot it like I can in a video game, because I have to properly aim the gun, calibrate the distance of me and the target,as well as knowing where the wind is blowing and how hard it is. we gamer's defend games from assholes like you that knows nothing about games and is to ignorant to see that violence has been around since we first came into existence.
@DoIphZiggler "If you don't believe a game like CoD or GTA doesn't promote violence, you are an idiot." (sic, double negative)
So... any evidence for your claims? For games OR movies OR music? Evidence helps people believe that you might not just be talking out of your ass, you know. Personally, I spent my childhood and adolescence watching violent films, playing violent video games, and listening to music with satanic and horror lyrics... and guess what? I'm not violent in the slightest.
@guitarpedant Evidence, Hi-Fi murders were influenced by the film Magnum Force, and it's evident that some school shootings have been influenced by music. I'm not saying films and video games birth criminals, I'm saying they influence everyone, weather it be wearing a band t-shirt or committing a crime that you've seen in a film. Just saying that throwing a game like MW3, where you shoot people, into the lap of someone with psychosis could possibly enable a murderer.
@DoIphZiggler Yup, still waiting for evidence. You can't say that any particular crime was caused by a game, film or music, even in part. Even if a crime copycats a film, that means only that the STYLE of the crime was influenced, not the crime itself. Meanwhile, there isn't any statistical evidence showing even a CORRELATION between violent media and crime, never mind a credible causal link. It's the statistical data that matters, not your anecdotes. Anecdotes are not scientific evidence.

Interesting also that Fox News, which is well known for decrying FANTASY violence in video games will go out of their way to praise REAL violence when it's us Americans shooting REAL people, many victims being REAL women and children (not just soldiers) and occupying other REAL nations.
Fox News LOVES violence and killing, but only if real people are killed. If it's fake people that are killed, then it's somehow evil.
I would say the problem is playing it too much. Just like Nicholas Carr stated in his book The Shallows: What the Internet is Doing to our Brains, too much exposure can lead to brain changes that aren't necessarily good.
So as long as one doesn't just play video games for hours on end without breaks to rest the eyes or possibly doing something doesn't involve an LCD screen, such as reading, it shouldn't be so bad.
This recent study from Indiana University states that video games alter brain function in young men. Key phrase: alter BRAIN FUNCTION. Not "promote violence." Yes, the functions changed are those involving cognitive function and emotional control, but the MSM interpreted it in a more extreme way to say the least.
I've actually found a lot of studies that state that video games can lead to aggressive behavior (or in the very least alter brain behavior in young men) but a lot of them also state that that does not mean that they'll turn your kid into the next Seung-Hui Cho, which is what many Jack Thompson-types seem to believe.
Even so, from what I've seen, the studies seem to vary a lot anyway.
After that Supreme Court decision in Brown v. Electronic Merchants Association, video games are protected under free speech and therefore they cannot be banned.
Only one game was actually banned in the United States, The Guy Game, and that was because it featured a real life model who was under 18 at the time of shooting the FMV footage. (But as far as I know, no one liked The Guy Game anyway, so it doesn't really matter so much.)
Every time someone tells me video games should be banned because of violence, I wanna punch the person square in the face. Games have ratings, if you don't want your kid to going out shooting everybody then by him Lego Star Wars or something, when you buy him a game and the little rating says "Must be 17 years or older to play" Maybe you shouldn't buy him that game huh?
there is no needed for censorship when there is ratings!
you know this is g or pg why do people forget about these a 10 year old kid should not be playing a game thats MA or R shouldnt it be the parents choice if they want to knowledge these ratings? censorship sucks!
I'm not really seeing religion as the root cause of censorship. Those championing for video game censorship in Congress are led by left-wing elite such as Hillary Clinton. The right-wing religious zealots seem more interested in banning gay marriage and abortion, as you touched upon in your last video.
Ya sorry have to disagree with you there. Atheistic regimes, communists, fascists and the like are far more into censorship than the worst of bible bangers. Now I hate bible bangers even moreso than obnoxious atheists and I'm a catholic but this is true. Make sure your facts are straight before generalizing.
I play PS3 for about an 1hour every other day...unless im doing a playthrough i'll get whatever i can in that day, mostly likely doing a playthrough on Sat. & Sun
i say if you are mature to play a game thats mature, then play it...i was 8 yrs old playing Gears of War and i never thought of going out and killing people
It just seems to me that most of these moralites want to convert the world around them to their moral view. If you don't agree, then too bad. Personally, my thoughts always come back to who bought the system and/or game for the child and who regulates how long they are playing. It's like parents who blame the teachers for their child failing 1st grade. If you're not teaching your own child to read before school you have failed. If you are buying unsuitable games for your child you have failed.
@c4r50n1 No. Kids should be taught such things or at least the beginnings of such things before they even reach school age. Learning begins in the home, not when school starts. You spend time with your child and teach them before school even comes into play because by not doing so you are missing prime moments in which your child could have learned something. It's not about failure of the schools, it's about parents not wanting to do their job.
No, don't fucking blame Christians. I'm a Christian, my parents are Christians, and my brother is a Christian. My brother constantly plays GTA and my parents bought it for him. My preacher bought his son Call of Duty.
On hand, some kids do not have brains that are well developed enough to differentiate between reality and fantasy. When you're really young, you tend to imitate what you see other doing, regardless of whether it is virtual or not.
i haft to agree points but most people are simple minded individuals i seen parents complain about sex scenes that are completly fake and then turn onjersey shore witch is real people geting and the bed wiht skanks trying to get on tv and say thats perfectyl fine and have a camera in there or maybe house?
I was actually involved in a small census with about 40 parents who were concerned about their children playing video games. The top 3 concerns that the parents had were their child's social skills, physical fitness, and belligerent attitudes (all of which can be dealt with by moderation and discipline, not censorship). Violence, sex, drugs, etc were not even an issue, although swearing was.
If you're interested, there's a site called TVtropes with a page called Anti-Poop Socking. It basically lists all the games that encourage the player to stop playing after a while, like MapleStory does.
i remembered at my school i wanted to go to a site called Battle{dot}net and my teacher said NO right off the bat didnt ever look at the site and her excuse was it "promotes violence" some people just make me LOL and /facepalm ALL THE TIME like more than 10 times a day
sounds like parents are getting too lazy to tell their kids right from wrong. videogames will not incite kids to do violence. Besides kids are not old enough to have firearms and if they took it off their parents and its essentially the parents fault for having weapons in a family household (which is why they're probablly blaming videogames). also by the time kids are old enough to have firearms I'm sure they'll know violence is unacceptable anyway
@iwannabethekid34x And about that bill board: It's the complete opposite here in Oregon, anything religious gets taken down instantly. How about people keep shit to themselves?
I don't see how that's hard. It seems these religious and Atheist people just shove their thoughts down everyones throat. I'd make a law that says "No bill boards expressing religious or atheist feelings" How bout that? Just keep that shit to themselves so it doesn't cause a shitstorm.
I find it hilarious yet sad that we don't really care too much about violence. Heads blown off, spines ripped out? That's perfectly fine. But when there's even a little nudity or sex, then it's a huge fucking problem.

in the example you mentioned in the video of the dad i think the dad was playing. the multiplayer isn't that bad on the game there is only alittle blood after the shot so i can kinda see where he is coming fromm.
This is why I like role-playing games, you have a CHOICE to do all the dark, bloody, and violent things or be a white silk sheet people all crowd to because they are so filthy compaired to the player of the game.
As far as the lazy subject.....
If people who played all the sports games, who are very well able the very same things in real life just got up and played the sports in real life being lazy would not be an issue.
I happen to have a sword that allows me to execute a million stabs in 3 seconds, and allows me to lunge it at an enemy while pulling me along with it at an enemy targeted with just a press of a button. Oh, and I have two pistols that never need reloading, and can keep me almost stationary in the air when I fire. Not to mention, I have an invincibility roll. I can TOTALLY be Dante from Devil May Cry in real life.
That said though, what do the groups gain if games get banned?
I don't play video games at all so I can't relate very well, but for my brothers birthdays and Christmases I buy him these "violent" games like CoD etc. because he asks for them, hes a pretty good kid so I buy them for him. Hes only 13 though. At first he started swearing and being all obnoxiously inappropriate like all 13 year olds are, then my mom knocked some sense into him. These censorship groups need to handle their own shit, and people need to do some parenting.
For playing video games since the NES days, I would say the effect has reversed on me. I actually don't like to see violence. I can tell how it it done realistically and faking it, but I realize if I do see someone hurt in realife, I kinda feel it on them because it is horrible.
not to take anything away from your point but cod isnt really a violent game per say. there are much more violent games. the only one that had some level of gore in it was WaW. The other ones there is rarely any blood or dismembered limbs or anything.
These stupid conservative christian groups try to ban these video games because they believe they are a "bad influence" on their children, and they think that if they play a game like saints row the third they will become monsters and rapists. The truth is, a large amount of people play games like this, even children, and they don't act like monsters. This is because, in the end, the parent is responsible for teaching their kids reality from a video game.
I thought you said last night that the new vid was going to be about the rock&roll hall of fame shtuff....? so was this made just before the live feed? ...I feel like I've gotten lost in a time warp lol
. There's a rating on the games that specifically says the appropriate age to play. Banning violent video games so to "protect" little kids would be like banning cigs and beer -.-
@Deadpool534 Except those actually effect real life decisions and your health. But I agree they both have addictive properties and drawbacks to them. And to an extent they do ban video games to younger kids, just like cigarettes you cant buy a rated m game until you're 18.
Another thing I find funny is homophobes in MMOs. Only I'm currently playing a Superhero game so the moment someone says gay everyone else turns round and says "dude you're the one in tight spandex!"
Those parents need to monitor their stupid kids. My first T rated game was in '97. I didn't look for a huge sword and try to overthrow the government. My first M rated game was in '02. I didn't steal a car, fuck a hooker, and work for a bunch of gangs.
Books are pretty much uncensored. They remain the best way to get your sex and violence fix.
Then again I can see the day when I have a viable black market buisness smuggling copies Courtesans: Sex and Society into the United Christian States of America.
There's more of a chance that the kid will hear someone say fuck, and then going around telling people to go fuck themselves without realizing what it means, than if they see somebody getting shot and go shooting people. That's why he shushed you.
and yeah. i do have a 20yr old cousin who's a lazy piece of shit. all he does is play video games 12-15+ hours a day! it's no wonder his older brother had kicked him out of his apartment as well as not having a job. at least i have an excuse considering that i'm away at school.
I think the thing I hate most about children and games is simple, Parents buy their children rated M games and then suddenly wonder "Why is my child cutting off zombies heads? That's too violent!" The first thing that comes up in my mind, "why not act like a parent and stop letting video games babysit your children?"
its really a shame that australia had banned the new mortal kombat game. the fucked up part about it; if any australian even dared to try to buy the game outside their country, they will have to pay a $11,000 fine!! again, really fucked up.
Why not just say: Kids, don't do anything you see in this game, mkay, and yes I thought you were dumb enough not to have the common sense not to do it,"
Super Mario 3D land as well says 'Be sure to take breaks regularly so you don't get tired'. And on of WoW's loading screen tips says 'Remember to take everything in moderation (even World of Warcraft)'. Also, Runesape used to say (IDK if it still does), 'playing for long periods of time? Take a 5 minute break and get some fresh air!'.
I think that the reason these censorship groups are targeting video games is because video games are so popular today. The medium is growing and the industry racks up billions of dollars. Back in the day when "talking pictures" were all the rage, censorship was definately more strict than it is today. 20-30 years ago, violent movies were often banned, but today, it's not a huge deal.I think that down the line, censors are going to be more lenient towards games as we've seen in other industries.
As many people have said, parents shouldn't even ALLOW their young children to have Rated M games if they're going to freak out and cause problems due to which, hell, if they go out and try to copy what characters in a video game do then they shouldn't be playing video games until they're at least able to understand what they can and can't copy.
I know some kids with a strong emotional and mental state where letting them play a Rated M game is okay.
my mother almost didn't buy me Conan for 360(mind you i was 17) because they read the warning to her and she looked me like that was the reason(Nudity) i wanted it, wasn't the case but the reason she didn't by it was because there was something wrong with the credit card slider?(i have no idea what it's called because i am stupid) only came up in Spanish . but my mom would understand what were in the games and buy me the games because she knew i wasn't stupid.
If the parents don't want their kids to play M rated games, then they should get off their lazy fucking asses and watch what their kids play.
I just love the thought process of these people. I run into someone in MW3 and chuck a grenade at him. So by their thought I would want to do this to the next person I meet. Damn idiots.
What these people need to understand is that videos games are a form of escapism. You play video games to "escape" from everyday life. Then when you're done playing you come back to reality refreshed. I've been playing videos games that have violent content in them since I was like 10. I'm 18 now and I feel and act perfectly normal. I treat everyone with respect, do my work, and plan on going to college in the fall. My parents were smart enough to sit me down and teach me right from wrong.
And I completely agree with you. It's completely unfair to want something banned where it limits off others who want to play/watch it so that they can protect another demographic. I did A Level media studies and we looked at censorship and the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification). Until (I think) the late 90's it was run by someone different where it was named 'British Board of Film Censorship. Thank fuck those days are over.
Censorship is the reason why autism and turrets are growing symptoms. Turrets because of the censorship of words, and autism because parents are trying the best they can to hide the reality from their kids. I mean, blood, deaths and weapons. These are all things a kid should see, so they can draw a more logic line of how the world works.
It's bad for a kid not to know that. And these are things they have to see for themselves to understand.
This is why i love being from the UK... as we only have a couple of major 'newspapers' (the Daily Mail) that pretty much condemn everything, and while we do have sort of a similar situation (white middle to upper class dicks trying to censor media) they're definitely a minority here. In my opinion it's up to the parent and whether they choose to restrict content. But at the same time, companies should try their best to keep the tone down if there's a chance young children can see it.
The principle of video games is the simulacra that does not exist in our reality, but that it is nevermore a window to the reality that awaits simulation. The war games are promoting the established government which pilots man, by mars, to war, and to uphold the powers that be, who rather not do the acts of war by their own hand, but to control the currency which enslaves men to believe in the caduceus of Thoth Hermes, as they are consumed by the very serpent who treads man.
Ah... a world without violence... well I'm guessing they're going to take Shakespeare out of schools then...? Are they going to take WW1 and WW2 out of histroy books...? Are they going to stop teenagers from signing up to the army...? Are they going to protest when ever a war is started...?
I game and I've never once, in real life, killed a hooker, beaten a supermutant to death with a sledge hammer or jumped on the head of a goomba. Idiots...
"The REAL problem are the dumb Americans who would emulate ANYTHING they watch." Really? Are people THAT stupid? If so, then I'm very disappointed in the entire human race who think that way.
If someone rips his/her own intestines out of his/her ass, does that mean others should do it? Fuck no, that's retarded logic that some censorship groups use.
I'd rather a 10-year-old hear an F bomb than see people get shot up.

CrazyCheeseMagee 1 month ago

Zachthekingsfan 1 month ago
9:15 you forgot to say "Cunt"
there is no needed for censorship when there is ratings!
you know this is g or pg why do people forget about these a 10 year old kid should not be playing a game thats MA or R shouldnt it be the parents choice if they want to knowledge these ratings? censorship sucks!

QueenNyx 1 month ago
@QueenNyx Kids learn how to read in Kindergarten.
c4r50n1 1 month ago
@c4r50n1 No. Kids should be taught such things or at least the beginnings of such things before they even reach school age. Learning begins in the home, not when school starts. You spend time with your child and teach them before school even comes into play because by not doing so you are missing prime moments in which your child could have learned something. It's not about failure of the schools, it's about parents not wanting to do their job.
QueenNyx 1 month ago
No, don't fucking blame Christians. I'm a Christian, my parents are Christians, and my brother is a Christian. My brother constantly plays GTA and my parents bought it for him. My preacher bought his son Call of Duty.

I was actually involved in a small census with about 40 parents who were concerned about their children playing video games. The top 3 concerns that the parents had were their child's social skills, physical fitness, and belligerent attitudes (all of which can be dealt with by moderation and discipline, not censorship). Violence, sex, drugs, etc were not even an issue, although swearing was.

sounds like parents are getting too lazy to tell their kids right from wrong. videogames will not incite kids to do violence. Besides kids are not old enough to have firearms and if they took it off their parents and its essentially the parents fault for having weapons in a family household (which is why they're probablly blaming videogames). also by the time kids are old enough to have firearms I'm sure they'll know violence is unacceptable anyway

@Deadpool534 Except those actually effect real life decisions and your health. But I agree they both have addictive properties and drawbacks to them. And to an extent they do ban video games to younger kids, just like cigarettes you cant buy a rated m game until you're 18.

What these people need to understand is that videos games are a form of escapism. You play video games to "escape" from everyday life. Then when you're done playing you come back to reality refreshed. I've been playing videos games that have violent content in them since I was like 10. I'm 18 now and I feel and act perfectly normal.

ClawlessReaver 2 months ago
This is why I love that the supreme court made it illegal to ban selling video games to minors because of violence.
The reasoning was that many children's stories are also violent, most of Grimm's fairy tales, for instance.
BLHProductions 2 months ago
The principle of video games is the simulacra that does not exist in our reality, but that it is nevermore a window to the reality that awaits simulation. The war games are promoting the established government which pilots man, by mars, to war, and to uphold the powers that be, who rather not do the acts of war by their own hand, but to control the currency which enslaves men to believe in the caduceus of Thoth Hermes, as they are consumed by the very serpent who treads man.
