  • why when i type in Brian Wilson do I see a douche with a beard show up first?

  • @MaccaBeatles I think it's because of that was in his early years in the 70s when he was gaining weight and stuff.

  • the man is a proper, real, live legend. go to 60s beach boys, if ya don't believe me. the beatles did'nt compete with the rolling stones, they tried to keep up with this fella an his band , if ya dony believe me just ask paul mc cartney

  • The voice may not be what it was..but don't you just love him - respect!

  • I have so much love and respect for Brian :) he's had a tough life but he's still a bloody genius. He wrote all those beautiful songs, the Beach Boys wouldnt even exist if it werent for him. we love u Brian!!! :)

  • It's good seeing him playing the Bass again!!...

  • Is there so many people watching him :O best song from him er ''Let's go to heaven in my car'' :D

  • poor old bugger

  • poor old bugger

  • too bad he looks like a deflated plastic bag nowadays

  • @stevus111

    everyone before 1980 does

  • Thumbs up for the blonde female singer Taylor Mills! ;)

  • thanks chocholatina for this video ;)

  • Brian wilson bringing sexy back not Justin Timberlake

  • @coolsweetgroovy

He's mentally sharp. He just has severe anxiety problems. Gets scared basically during high pressure situations.

You don't sing 8 part harmonies, while playing organ and bass, if you're not with it.........

  • @MrCeej9999 I know Brian is the man

  • What a fantastic band!

Poor old Brian who scarcely seems to know what's happening around him.

Great music all the same and an ecxstatic crowd.

    I loved it too.

  • Excellent Brian! That crowd is unbelievable -- you must have loved it.

  • shower a shite!!!

  • I love watching Glastonbury performances from most artists. Especially the Sunday afternoon spot...the crowd are never anything other than enthusiastic.

  • i was there that sunday afternoon and at the liverpool concert the next day

  • Man, you see all the people there. And Jon BonJovi mixing it up to boot!

Let's see how some group of today, anyone, measure up to this.

    Some music is just timeless!

    Joseph F

  • I love the guitarist with the Carl Wilson badge, great sign of respect.. Carl could never be replaced.

  • That's Jeff foskett-He and Carl were close ,agree with what you say.

  • It's too bad Brian Doesn't do his famous high pitched vocals at the end.

  • who is the blonde dick head runnign around

  • now this is Talent! "x factor learn frm this!"

Brian + the band OWN! wayhey to simon cowels telly tubbyz! lmho

  • Brian sounds much better, 4 years later!

  • What bass is Brian playing?

  • Amazing

  • cool but as usual, the band plays waaaay over the top....

  • does someone know how many people were there? 100.000 maybe?

  • After watching this concert, I have to hand it to Brian Wilson. After the early/middle 60s, the BBs basically sucked in concert. That's b/c they got lazy and bored, not really older. It was reflected in their music, both vocally and instrumentally. Brian is reduplicating the sound of his original records in concert. He may have to hire a ton of musicians to do it with him...but he did it. Great job Brian!

  • Right up there with the best musical genius names of our time.

  • @extramile150

Absolutely. So sad he was out of action for so long!

By the way: he's playing bass here! In fact, you'll see him playing bass in a LOT of pictures over the years!

Funny how many Really Good songwriters are bass players? McCartney, of course. Willy Dixon in the blues... etc

  • @xtenkfarpl John Deacon from Queen: I want to break free, Another one bites the dust, You're my best friend...

  • @xtenkfarpl

He used to play bass for the Beach Boys, when he used to tour with them in the early 1960s. He quit touring in about 1964 as he couldn't handle it.

In the actual recording bit he played EVERY instrument basically - as in, he'd record an entire album on his own, while they were away on tour, then just get them to add the vocals when they got back

  • @MrCeej9999 He didn't play every instrument it was majoritively session players apart from the piano and bass

  • @MrCeej9999 The beach boys backings were recorded by the legendary "wrecking crew" including hal blaine on drums, glen campbell on guitar and carole kaye on bass. There are plenty of clips available on youtube where you can hear Brian behind the console asking Carole and Hal to do things in a certain way. Brian was a brilliant composer and arranger but a rudimentary bass player, as he was the first to admit.

  • @xtenkfarpl He's holding the bass, but the guy playing is the bald one behind him in Fun Fun fun. To play the bass you need to move your left hand too, and in the rare moments when the camera lets you see Brian's left hand, it's not moving at all. I love brian and the original BB's but unfortunately he no longer has the coordination needed to sing and play at the same time.

  • Brian rules!!!!!!!!!!

  • Brian Wilson is a living Legend....a great musical genius !

  • One thing's for sure... Brian is just holding that bass. Anyway, yeah not always the most inspiring performer these days, I'm just glad the guy is happy and and making music, and most importantly alive. Gotta love that guy.

  • I'll tell you, as a guitarist/singer, I am UNCOMFORTABLE singing without something in my hand, so if it's a crutch, let him have it!!

  • ocgiii, you must have missed the meaning behind my message.

I'm a "guitarist/singer" myself as I'm sure at least a third of the people posting here "are". I have to agree, I prefer the crutch myself.

Am I not allowed to point out the holy Brian doing this? He;s done it for years. A ton of great artists do/did live. I won't kill you with a list.

By my account I've given him enough money by owning every album he's made to make a tongue in cheek comment about him if I want.

  • if you know anything about Brian you know his usage of sound layers, so perhaps he is using the bass as a crutch but we have to remember he might pluck those strings once or twice to add that miniscule amount of sound to the overall sound. everyone can have an opinion, but once again lets remember who we are talking about

  • awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!! fuckin A!

  • legend

  • Bless you Brian Wilson. You've spent your Entire Life bringing joy into our lives through your music. Now enjoy Yourself friend !

  • long live brian!!!

  • amazing triumph of the human mind and spirit that everyones favorite beach boy brian wilson overcame his problems and illness to brave the spotlight and tour his great songs again... I just cant even believe it I never thought this would have happened... he should sue mike love and make mike work as a "beach boy" forever to pay off his debts. it was always the "Brian Wilson Show" as far as Im concerned... but his brothers were amazing talents in their own right. methinks Mike Love was adopted.

  • al jardin is an amazing talent as well. so glad to see these guys still rockin!

  • brian is a geniuos

  • Brian Wilson is still awesome, maybe more so than when he was young. I saw him do two hours of Beach Boys and That Lucky Old Sun in NYC and it doesn't matter that his voice isn't young and strong. Anyone who has the strength to create that much joyful sound at any age is OK by me. If you can leave his show without a smile on your face you are brain dead or a grinch.

  • What do I think of you? Hmm. How about, I don't like panderers, Mikey. And I don't like guys who obviously love themselves too much. YOUR fetish? Yourself. You think every girl is just gonna fall all over themselves for a chance to get you in bed. YUCK!! Your stage moves actually look prissy and queerified. So sue me, since you love litigatin' so much.

Quite frankly, I don't care a dog's ass what you think of Van Dyke Parks. Dog's ass--that's a good description of your face!

  • But remember, baldy, with no Brian there would never have been a...YOU for you to worship for no apparent reason. Too bad you didn't have the talent and creativity to form the Beach Boys yourself. That took Brian, and he did that in spite of Murry, not because of him(or because of you either). If you sold all those hats you've worn over the years to hide your obvious chrome dome, you wouldn't have to keep suing people for money!

  • brian is awesome!!!!!!!!

  • Its a blessing that we who didnt grow up in the 60s have the possibillity to see artists like Brian Wilson perform today. I saw Dylan live in may, and it was the thrill of a lifetime.

If u choose vocal perfection over genious songs, experiencing the magnificent and epic style that the artist created on his very own, seeing one of the greatest musical legends in history in action, and experience the wonder of the 60s today, then there is plenty of C. Aguilera (?) videos on this side for u.

  • Fab fab fab! The man is a God and I am awe struck he came out of his shell to appear live on stage all these years later that he couldn't do with the BBYS. God bless you Brian.. fun fun fun

  • Hey there, Mikey! Sued anybody lately? So you were starting to miss me, huh? Wondering what I look like? That famous testosterone of yours is working overtime, isn't it, imagining whether or not I would be another of your good screws? Hang it up, Mikey--I ain't underaged sweetmeat.

  • Hey, Mikey! Yeah, 2 posts here among 158, and suddenly it's official! that's only because a couple of people finally said something that agrees with your opinion. Your nasally singing these days is better, I suppose? Go try to top this--you and your lap dog, Brucie!

  • mi pussy is dripping

    haha im naked!!! 5V

  • I was born and bred a Beach Boys fan - and I agree that this is horrendous. If you want to hear the Beach Boys in their prime then search for them here on YouTube and try some of the b/w vids from the 60's - then u might appreciate Brian Wilsons range and the awesome harmonization that was the Beach Boys ;)

  • Brian Wilson wrote God Only Knows, Heroes and Villains, Good Vibrations, and you just wrote that......

  • Jerking off? Wife? I'm a WOMAN, asswipe!!

  • Hey everybody, the word is out! dorkhunter1 is Mike Love's youtube alias!!!

  • Brian Wilson = Musical Genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey, dorky! Mike Love rules only mediocre minds(like yours). Mr. "don't funk with the formula" didn't have the guts to think outside the box he put The Beach Boys in. As for Mikey giving Brian his talent--WHAT talent? You can't give what you don't have! Put that in your ass and crap it!

  • Seems you need to get a life as much as I do, dorky! You stalk me as much as I "stalk" you or anybody else. And uh, take a look at the crowd in this video and listen to his new albums and THEN tell me he's washed up! He's even played Royal Command Performances for the queen. Your hero is a bald, no-talent former gas station attendant that would still be pumping gas(or is it passing gas?) if not for Brian. He should stoop down and lick Brian's dust, just as YOU should, you shitfaced loser!

  • Mike Love = brains behind the Beach Boys???

Lordy, what planet have you been living on? You need to do TONS more of research before you make a ridiculous assertion like THAT!!! That statement is beyond stupid! Whose book you been reading? Mike Love's?

  • LITERALLY crapped his pants, huh? You were there to notice, were you? And the REAL king of the deadbeat dads is Mike Love, who TRULY shitcanned his own flesh and blood, not even acknowledging her as his, just because she was born out of wedlock. That didn't make her any less his flesh and blood. And saying Brian Wilson is only a bass player is like saying that Paul McCartney is only a bass player!

  • Uh, talking about deadbeat dads--what about Mike Love disowning his own daughter? I mean REALLY disowning her, simply because she was illigitimate(which wasn't HER fault)! She eventually died young because she needed a kidney(I believe) transplant, and she couldn't afford it, and DEAR OLD DAD refused to pay for it, which he easily could have done! At worst Brian was a DYSFUNCTIONAL dad who was not MENTALLY or EMOTIONALLY with his kids, but he was always there. He never disowned his kids, dork!

  • You love to stir things up, don't you? Like grabbing attention? You MUST be the president of the Mike Love Fan Club!

  • YOU should sing so out of key! Hey, you must be a Mike Love fan, right?? DORK hunter indeed!

  • What do you mean "disowned his kids"? You say that like he threw them out in the street or something! And maybe YOU should read a little--Van Dyke Parks wrote the words to the "song about a plate of vegetables" not Brian. Brian created the MUSIC. He's not a lyricist. That's why he always works with collaborators. Mike Love would be proud of you. You're 2 peas in a pod--both of you are JERKS!!

  • check out 1:58 to 2:00, smokin HOT!!!!!

  • God forbid Brian would ever lower himself to reunite with Mike the leach Love....he doesnt need him and never will. The beach boys were finished once Carl died. Denny was a supremely talented brother and love had the nerve to call him talentless.

  • you're crazy, Mike Love is still dominating on tour.

  • Do your research my friend, Mike Love would still be pumping gas if it wasn't for Brian Wilson.

  • Thats a little piece of California at Glastonbury. Absolutely mesmerising. It really shows too that the Beach Boys are timeless.

  • Happy birthday Brian Wilson!!!!!!!!!

  • What a legend, still relevent over 30 years on, Brain and the beach boys are timeless,if you cant reflect on a happy time through this, then god help you

  • Actually, today is Todd Rundgren's birthday. I forgot to post the happy brithday Brian Wilson comment on Friday.

  • great to see brian still doing it after 40 years, the master at work

  • love it....wilson's band rocks.

  • who the fuck are u dork????the long lost bitter wilson brother or what........

  • dork hunter....whos the fucking dork here??????????????????? who wrote most of this stuff....brian wilson did..influence or not.....read and weep wanker

  • Why do people have to argue about The Beatles vs The Beach Boys? I'm English and I think Brian Wilson is unquestionably a musical genius who made a phenomenal impact on the 1960s music scene and influenced numerous musicians, singers and producers for years to come. The Beatles did rather well also! :-)

  • who cares!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! good music will ALWAYS BE GOOD MUSIC!!!!no matter who sings it.

  • Fuck you, and fuck Mike Love. You have no idea what the hell you are talking about and need to do some serious study on both facts and in music.

  • The English were never known to have very good musical taste....how else can you explain the Spice Girls and Boy George??

    Tally ho and toodle pip!!

  • the beatles, led zeppelin, the rolling stones, the smiths, the clash, radiohead, the kinks, cream, eric clapton, david bowie, the who....i mean that's pretty good musical taste if you ask me.

  • But the English also gave the world the horrendous skiffle craze.

  • nowt wrong with skiffle, lonnie donegan gave birth..the beatles popped out of the gooey mess, nuff said.

  • Have you ever heard about Brian Wilson?

anyway retire yourself from saying that bullshit. He is still a man, the same man.

  • i actually thought his band is better than the Beach Boys.

  • me too

  • what????granted they are tight..they needed to be for BW but better than original BBZ........get fucking real u gimp.

  • Fuckyou they're a hell of alot better as most people agree your madder than BW to think other wise!

  • and without original stuff where would this lot be....cum on....fukkin clown....original means what it says.....

  • fuck you1

  • so good to see Brian Wilson back on stage !

  • Amazing band. Great to see Brian looking well

  • everytime i hear a beach boy song BRIAN WILSON comes to mind. i sing and i was inspired by brian years ago with his amazing harmony arrangements. BRIAN is the beach boys. sorry mike love

  • I would do taylor mills so hard right now!!!

  • Arrgh! Jolly Roger @ 3:32

  • Go jolly rogers!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Go jolly rogers!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Brilliant!!!

  • Saw him for the first time at Bridgeschool in 1998 I think it was, he opened up with "Surfer Girl." This guy with this band, they always put on a good show.

  • hey kids, whats a hamburg stand?????

  • this is fantastic!

  • this is fantastic!

  • He's a genious. Even in the apparent 'simplicity' of Surfin' USA, to the complex-elaborated-magnific classic-like tunes of Pet Sounds and Smile.

  • Brian Wilson is my favorite modern composer, but let's not forget that the primary songwriting credit for Surfing USA goes to Chuck Berry. The music is essentially similar to Berry's "Sweet Little Sixteen."

  • I feel so bad for Brian everytime I see him, he's the most under appreciated genius of this century.

    As Paul McCartney said best

"Without Pet Sounds, there would be no Sgt. Peppers"

  • He is hardly unappreciated! Hardly anyone does not like Beach Boyus tunes and he is constantly lauded by the greatest musicians off all time as a genius. Thats pretty good appreciation to my mind

  • Maybe that's even his biggest achievement. Really hardly anyone does not like the Beach Boy sound, thats amazing ...

  • Yes, that's true, but a lot of people in the general public STILL doesn't realize that he's a genius. I guess that's because of ignorance of the significant role he played in the formation of the group and the HUGE role he played in the creation and production of the music.

  • As a kid, I was "too cool" for the Beach Boys and Brian Wilson. But I now have an appreciation for some great tunes. You are right: A number of musicians say he was greatest - I just heard Elton John say it on an interview today.

  • Here , here !

  • Brian Wilson's music is responsible for more good moods and real euphoria than probably any other music in history.

    God bless Brian Wilson!!

  • Hahaha, you know what, you're damn right.

  • ...Brian Wilson may have been troubled in his life, but a hell of a lot of happy music came out of him because of it...the more an artist suffered, the greater the artist became......Brian Wilson surpassed them all !

  • Amen

  • Absolutely fabulous and amazing crowd. We love you Brian!

  • He was definitely aware of his musical genius... check out his autobiography sometime. It's a VERY interesting read

  • Just read his book. His father was a CU*T. What a complete prick.

  • HAH! I wouldn't put ANY faith in that "autobiography" if I were you. It was ghost written(at least partly by "Dr." Eugene Landy). It's FULL of factual errors and misquotes. Brian said he didn't even read the manuscript before it was submitted. In other words, Brian Wilson had no hand in WRITING it!

  • he's amazing

  • Wow Brian Wilson is such a Musical Genius! What puzzles people is that he doesn't even realize it! At least Mike Love does and steals the Beach Boys from him, hehehe what a bald talentless prick raking in all the money!!

  • How can you not love him???

  • Brian. he always makes me happy.

    thank you.

  • That Lucky Old Sun is, indeed, fantastic. Brian back to his best.

  • I love this old rocker.peace Brian....Hari Krishna.

  • I saw Brian Wilson last night in Bristol UK. Let me assure you that he is at the top of his game, the concert was just fantastic. He presented his new work 'Lucky Old Sun' and that has to be seen to be believed, he was entusiastic smiling and generally loving every minute of performing. I met Taylor Mills after the show and she is even more beautiful close up :)

  • Brian seems to have a life long ( mutual ) love affair with the Brits.... Is he as revered there as it seems????

  • You need to know ALL the facts about Brian Wilson before passing any judgement. Music is his passion. He's one of the greatest music writers the world has ever known, and he'll continue making beautiful sound as long as he is still alive.

My brother is one of the band members.

  • Agreed.... I first saw Brian and the BB live in 1963 and was hooked. Never have missed a chance to see him since- including the Smile concert in Minneapolis. I think I am up to somewhere around 35 BB and BW concerts.

  • Oh Fhuck that man is GOD!!!!! =)

  • Brian Wilson = LEGAND!

  • the female singer in the band is a HOTTIE

  • taylor mills, love her !

  • pajer - what about the Mandroid Wreckhearts?

  • All he does is stand there its sad. I would not be able to go see Brian at this age in concert its to sad I wish I could see 1967 Brian perform again. As happy as I am that he is feeling better then he ever did hes still not himself.

  • fuckwit

  • Uh..you need a reality check.Come into the REAL world and leave your beautiful perfect fantasy world behind!Besides, have you ever checked out his performances back in the 60's with the Beach Boys?He wasn't exactly jumping around on stage like Pete Townsend back then either! With Brian, it was never about the performance(that was Mike Love's thing).Brian was about the MUSIC and the HARMONIES.He was always bashful about performing live. That's nothing new.Geniuses don't HAVE to be great performers!

  • Yeah it may be Brian Wilson but I feel like hes taken way to much medication in his day to really be the same person he was and he doesnt seem to perform nearly as good as he used to.

  • fuckwit

  • Try walking a mile in his shoes and see how well YOU hold up.And besides, the man's in his 60's.Ummm,in case you don't know, age slows a person down!I can testify to that, and I'm only in my 50's!And his schedule is far tougher than mine. Most of those musicians in his band are half his age. Of course they will have more energy and bouce. My voice isn't what it used to be, and I never smoked or took drugs, like he did.I'd say he holds up remarkably well under the circumstances! ROCK ON,BRIAN!!

  • I absolutely love Brain and his great band. His voice may not be what it used to be, but fot f**k sake, it's BRIAN WILSON.

  • just repeating my post from 3 months ago."FUCK HIS VOICE ITS BRIAN WILSON " LIVE. why are you talking about his voice? ITS BRIAN WILSON!FUCK YOU!

  • God love Brian Wilson! After all he has been through it is good to see him perform again. That was a treat.

  • I seen him last night!!!Absolutely Amazing!!

  • These songs are electrifying, could revive a dead man.

  • i was in the front row and no-one in that audience will ever forget that amaizing performance

  • Brian Wilson, a true American music icon. Though his sweet angelic voice will never be heard again, the fact that he still wants to write, produce, perform and tour is a testament to his continued musical genius. We love you Brian! Love and mercy.

  • Has anyone got the BBC coverage of Sloope John B??? That was awesome from what i remember....classics!!

  • Geez makes me wanna cry seeing what time does and how fast it goes. Especially when seeing a video from the 60s to this

  • one minute your indestructable the next minute your looking over the pressa-piss. this guy nearly dun a syd barret give him credit.could be worse you could be watching your granny havin sex!

  • Could be saying the same about you when you reach 60-something. And he probably has more stamina than you do, too!

  • No, i'm sure the technolgy of Viagra will be far more powerfull and advanced in 30 years then what ever he's taking now so Ill have the stamina edge by far.

  • Uh, doofus nimaside, I wasn't talking about THAT kind of stamina. God! some people are such idiots!

  • What a moron you are. Don't even know a joke when you read one. What a pansy you are. I stated orginally that I hate seeing how the ravges of time affects people. Get over it.

  • Uh, YOU need to get over it! If seeing what time does to someone bothers you that much, you're the pansy. I don't know how old you are, but if you're still relatively young, your time is coming! And I'M the moron??
