I think the reason why so many hate the PS3 was because Sony promised us so much at it's launch and the PS3 is only now delivering it.... well, it might become the standard format...eventually. In reality, blu-ray is way ahead of it's time. Which makes it more of a luxury right now, seeing as dual layer DVD is the standard gaming format. Blu-ray probably wont become the standard until HD-DVD has been used for gaming for at least a few years. HD hasn't been used for games at all yet.
