Ese era el estilo barroco...sabes del estilo barroco? ademas de que Farinelli era conocido por sus virtuosismos vocales, lo barroco no se caracteriza por la simpleza...para nada...por eso es que despues con Gluck la musica cambio a una linea vocal menos rebuscada.

Riccardo Broschi is a brilliant composer and this aria is the proof! The singer in question is in the category wonderful agility, but a disaster as the scenic interpretation! In general their performances seem more caricature than would be the ancient art of bel canto.

Too stiff, it seems to me that she is trying to hard and that slows the flow of the line making the orchestra to fall into a "rallentando" She is being prey of her "talent"!!! I have the DVD, and it is well worth having. Both Bartoli and the orchestra are excellent, dynamic, and exciting. One would be hard pressed to find a performer who sings with greater agility, emotion, understanding, and passion. Understandably, her voice has feminine timbre and vibrato, yet the DVD provides a good understanding why the Baroque audiences had such a passion for castrato voices. I shall be viewing this DVD again and sharing it with friends.
