  • mrfitness: are you kiddding or just an idot? It was 1974 - and Mr. Austin was 64 years old. There is no doubt about the facts. His playing partners included Chandler Harper, PGA Champion. He and his other playing partners testified to witnessing the event. The Guiness Book has very strict criteria and this record was verified to their satisfaction. Mike Austin was a rare genius on this earth - with Ph.D in Kinesiology and also degees in mechanical engineering and psychology. Look it up.

  • Could he putt or post a score?

  • @mrfitness2008 Where are your facts to disprove the record, the eye witnesses, and the fine people at the guinness book of world records? Oh yeah.. your just a passer through with an opinion and NO facts!

  • With that swing he should have won majors he was obviously a great athlete.

  • Really a good swing but why the skeleton shirt?

  • @BOATRIGHTGOLF Austin was a kineseologist, and he taught the swing via biomechanics. This allowed him to get away from instruction that was feel based, and more towards what is absolute. The skeleton outfit shows you what the bones are doing in the swing. The most notable example is what the hips are doing. Looks at his hips in the video.

  • genius at work!!

thank you for puting this up !!

  • Amazing indeed!! I will be doing a Mike Austin tribute in Southland Golf magazine later this summer. What a guy he was!

  • This video is amazing! Thanks a lot!

  • I remember listening to Jack Nicklaus talking about releasing from the top not holding on to the club, which is what Mike Austin talks about. The sounds of the hit man he is nuking the ball.

  • Very much like a baseball swing, and I can see where Hogan perfected his low entry move through the swing. Sir Squish (Tom B) if you're out there in cyberspace, I see the SQUISH and Turn!!!

  • I heard Austin and Hogan used to chat about the golf swing. Someone said Hogan took some pointers from Austin.

  • @1tontomato He may have done- but after his accident, Hogan swung the club in a way far more akin to the modern swing. Austin said afterwards that Hogan swung his driver like he was pitching. In Austin's own words: "a VERY short hitter."

  • Great video clip. Well done.

  • Mike was a special person, he and that suit should be in the golf hall of fame. Thanks for sharing.

  • wow. Takes a lot of guts to wear that skeleton suit!

    Mike Austin is my idol!!

  • Awesome footage, always great to see some Austin swings....hope I can still hit my 1 iron at 77yo! Another 50+ years left to perfect it!

  • If somewhen my studies go into the direction of finding the best biokinetic model for power and not accuracy, Mr.Austin motion will surely be taken into account. Thanks for posting this vid, mate.
