I think it's because the Japanese idols all look a little over sexed even the innocent cutesy ones. SNSD is a breathe of fresh air for them, long slender figures and real innocent young looks without too much make up.

all i can say is that SNSD is a great influence on japanese girls. to show them that they can be confident, cute, sexy, and be happy of being women. and japanese men also need to stand up and not let their past hold them from being confident and move to the future, and share their opinions and say what's on their mind, than to hold it in. being too polite can be dangerous.

that's true! partly because they always make it publicly known that SNSD has many fans across the Asian continent. recently, the japanese media now dubbed them "SUPER IDOLS" because of their charismatic approach to performing. which their japanese fans adore and admire ^_^
