Just got it on dvd. I thought it was hilarious, especially one certain r2d2 scene, which if you seen the movie you know which one (hint: has to do with sex) and me and my dad just laughed our asses off. Every joke just made us laugh till we started coughing.

family guys's humor is very... blunt.

don't get me wrong, I love it, but at times it seems like it's stretching to get jokes, though Seth Macfarlane has conquered both sides of the "cultural reference" jokes, he gets the people who understand it and think "oh, hey I'm really smart cause I understood that obscure reference" and he also gets the "haha, how random and creative" market. the perfect storm of comedy for those who enjoy it. sad, really :(

I personally wasn't too impressed, I thought the overuse of crude humour and recycling of already used Family Guy jokes detracted from the fact they were parodying Star Wars. A lot of the humour had me rolling my eyes instead of laughing, and yeah, the American humour was very "Huh? Should I be laughing?"

You forgot to mention the product placement as well, that was kind of weird.

I'm glad you pointed out the 4:3 aspect ratio with Family Guy. To be fair though, Seth MacFarlane has adopted a widescreen format for The Cleveland Show, which if I'm not mistaken aired after this season of Family Guy. Technically, Something Something Something Dark Side is part of this season. So I think it's still 4:3 in order to avoid changing the aspect ratio in the middle of the season. I expect Family Guy to be in widescreen next season. If it's not, THEN we have problems.
