I am considering getting the Spot tracker for my trip in September as I will be traveling alone mostly. I have read mixed reviews and I believe it needs a clear view of the sky and won't work very well if the tree canopy is too dense...if you go off the road and need to press the button my luck is it will be under a lot of trees...lol. Will be watching with interest to see your opinion of it on your trip to Alaska.

As a longtime SPOT user, I can't recommend the Spotwalla web page highly enough. Run by an IBR member, its much easiser to use than the official SPOT page, has a much cleaner user experience, and your trips stay up as long as you like. All for free.

Been thinking about buying the spot myself , only found it to expensive for the few trips i take. Could think of 2 solutions. 1 more trips and 2 not buying the thing. Although more trips sounds better in my opinion the wife thought different about that LOL. Spot nice toy , can't wait to following your trips live.
