@eXp0N3nT1aL not quite... in a straight line with the exact same hp specs and tq specs the 2wd would win... the 4wd has an extra diff to feed so you're loosing power to the floor there... if it was around a tightly wound track then yes, awd would come up on rwd due to cornering...
@eXp0N3nT1aL mechanical engineer major here lol plus i've been building performance motors for a while... skyline and supra are very very similar... both i6's and both turbo'd at stock... similar gear ratios but the awd just chews up the torque from the motor... also weight distribution comes into play and of course power to weight ratios... all adds up... but, your original comment was pretty close... right idea as far as launching abilities of 4wd..but once it's out of first the rwd comes back

LOL but its not eliminated because it makes a huge difference. Using this video for examples, a supra vs a GTR, lets says 500hp each, the supra will have alot more wheelspin then a GTR, not just for the launch but even into 2nd and 3rd.
Go back 3 replies and you clearly said power loss is doubled with having 2 diffs (using 300ftlbs as the figure) but that isnt the case at all. A GTR dynoed in 4wd only loses about 15-20% of power compared to dynoed in rwd.

if you put the same amount of money into both cars they'd have the same power but the skyline would win because of AWD but if both were RWD it'd be a very close race provided the drivers knew what they were doing

@eXp0N3nT1aL not quite... in a straight line with the exact same hp specs and tq specs the 2wd would win... the 4wd has an extra diff to feed so you're loosing power to the floor there... if it was around a tightly wound track then yes, awd would come up on rwd due to cornering...

@eXp0N3nT1aL mechanical engineer major here lol plus i've been building performance motors for a while... skyline and supra are very very similar... both i6's and both turbo'd at stock... similar gear ratios but the awd just chews up the torque from the motor... also weight distribution comes into play and of course power to weight ratios... all adds up... but, your original comment was pretty close... right idea as far as launching abilities of 4wd..but once it's out of first the rwd comes back

@chrisdef15 not what physics states and real life applications... sure the 4wd will beat rwd off a launch... but the rwd will catch up after the 4wd is in high second and third gears... if the engine has let's say 300ftlbs of tq on both vehicles and they have the exact same hp ratings in a hypothetical situation, the supra or rwd vehicle would win... rwd= 300ftlbs distributed to 1 differential, 4wd/awd= 300ftlbs distributed to 2 diffs... the power loss in 1 diff is doubled with the awd

Plenty of high power rwd cars will still have a big chance of getting wheelspin in 2nd and 3rd.
A GTR's 4wd system doesnt work like a wrx or evo, once the car doesnt detect wheelspin the majority of the power is transfered to the rear wheels.

LOL but its not eliminated because it makes a huge difference. Using this video for examples, a supra vs a GTR, lets says 500hp each, the supra will have alot more wheelspin then a GTR, not just for the launch but even into 2nd and 3rd.
Go back 3 replies and you clearly said power loss is doubled with having 2 diffs (using 300ftlbs as the figure) but that isnt the case at all. A GTR dynoed in 4wd only loses about 15-20% of power compared to dynoed in rwd.

Which GTR is faster? As ive said basically all of them. Fastest "legal" GTR here in Aus runs a 8.7, fastest supra runs a 9.7, both with similar specs and running on drag radials.
