  • on second thought that was really rude, let the man get his point across then move on to the next, how diplomatic mr. chairman.

  • they title made me laugh.

  • @ShaggieA the*

  • EISENHOWER TAXED THE RICH AT NINETY PERCENT !!!

  • :( I wanted to see old people in suites throwing punches.

  • @crackerz99 people vote republican because they believe in the American dream. Working hard to support your family, without the need for government handouts. Republicans believe that the government has a role in too much of American society, and self reliance is at the forefront of these beliefs, not like the nanny state that democrats support.

  • @chris72888 F**k I wish dumb Asses like you would wake up and see the republicans for what they are, not just listen to their kool-aid bullsh*t. I'ld say you seemed intelligent but your view point tells me otherwise. You have to be another beckerhead.

  • wow clearly Cenk doesn't understand political debates, especially in public form. Senator Kyl realizes that he may not change another colleagues vote, but he is pressing a solid argument for the American public to hear. Contrary to congress' decision on healthcare, an overwhelming majority of Americans do not support the health care legislation.

  • what hte GOP fails to remeber is that this an injustice, that the point of reforming health care is to help your fellow man, by taking money from corperations, to slow down the reform, and to keep healthcare costs high, they are being unjust. they are making life hard for the middle and lower class, they are doing it for money, and if you vote republican, you should be ashamed.

  • You had 13 years GOP, 1993-2006. WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED?

  • Maybe you're right. Maybe they should just sit there with their mouths closed and not say anything at all since there is no chance of changing someones mind. Whats the point of ever debating anything? Seems a waste of time, right?

  • @guard0544 He could at least get on with his point instead of just bitching about how he's not being allowed to finish his point. he was clearly wasting time.

  • I wouldn't mind malpractice reform.

  • Senators talk way too much...Too much talk and too little action...That's the true definition of politics.

  • why does no one consider the dutch system

  • this is a significant part of our problem as americans: as valuable as time is, we waste too much of it. we are too unproductive in our politics (this committee, commenting on tyt? there, i said it! XD), our homes (too much tv, video games, hanging out, tweeting/twittering, etc), even our sporting events! (no clock in baseball..WHY?) expediency has GOT to become a national priority! we have entirely too much to do, and spend too much time NOT doing it!

  • What is with all these people saying the insurance will not cover you? I have never NEVER known anyone who was turned down by there insurance. My brother died of cancer, his insurance covered all ALL the costs all the way! My aging parents have never ever been refused care by there health insurance. My own kids have cost our insurance hundreds of thousands of dollars and we never were turned EVER! IF YOUR INSURANCE DOES NOT DELIVER GET NEW INSURANCE!!! C'MON PEOPLE!

  • Once you try to make a claim because of a heart condition for example, you cannot possibly get another insurance company to cover you because of something called prior condition. It would be unprofitable for an insurance company to insure someone with health problems from the start. So if you have problems with your current insurance company when trying to make a claim you can forget about switching. It's a catch 22.

  • Well said. This is about people wanting to be taken care of and not take responsibility for themselves, that's all. It's quite sad to see our country going in this direction.

  • I don't believe I've ever seen one intelligent thought on this webcast. This guy is a moron with no respect for a democratic style of government.

  • finerbiner, no, 1/2 of 1% is the most conservative estamate I've heard, even from the left. As a matter of fact it ranks as hyperbole. Please, if you want to keep this an intelligent debate, be honest.

By the way, the Republicans are not dragging this on. I did not vote republican, but the president tried to push this through WITHOUT debate.

  • Without public health insurance AND a public option, private insurers won't do their damn job! They will deny you insurance as soon as a life-threatening thing happens to you. You're fucked, because you might die before the case gets settled in court, and that's IF you win the case, which probably isn't very common.

  • Just like he was being interrupted for, insurance is not the only problem with the health care system, but I doubt you guys care much about that. Insurance is a problem, but to ignore the other factors of the equation is just plain stupid. If you go to a hospital with something life-threatening, they cannot turn you away, but I don't see why you feel a private company should be forced to help you with preexisting conditions. Your negligence is not their fault.

  • So developing cancer is negligence? Your mother suffering from multiple sclerosis is her own fault? I don't quite follow your line of logic on that one.

  • No, but knowing that you have a history of cancer in your family and then not obtaining the appropriate insurance is negligence. If my mother did not purchase health insurance before the fact, yes, negligence. Being a mom doesn't change the fact.

All of you fail to answer this, because you know you wouldn't like it if it was your business that was under the gun. What makes you think you have the right to someone elses service? Please answer it this time and leave the sob stories out.

  • This "TYT" guys is an idiot! Tort reform would bring down health care cost significantly. But the Dems are supported by lawyers who do not want this reform.

  • Lawrence. Tort reform could help bring down cost. A little. Since payouts on malpractice account for only about 1/2 of 1% of health care costs, it could not possibly bring down costs significantly. All Dems and the Gop are supported by lobbyist money, which is the reason they could care less what you or I or anyone else thinks.

  • Tort-related cases only make up less than 2 percent of America's overall healthcare deficit.

A Public Option compounded with national insurance competition across state lines would lower cost significance; what you're proposing is reiterated nonsense.

  • Nobody asked you to click on the video.

  • this guy serious ?

  • Is this some kind of gag? WHat this guy is saying is ass backwards...when things get rushed though there are always mistakes made. When dealing with something as large as health care reform, our government should not rush anything and make sure that all options and opinions are heard. When one group of people in government tries to rush something through its known as "railroading" which is a tactic used to get people to agree to something before they can really think about the issue.

  • Would invading Iraq be an example?

  • that would be a great example

  • Im usualy for Republicans but your right. The guy talked and talked. I agree with what your saying The Young Turks.

  • This guy doesn't make sense

  • For christs sake enough with the TORT reform crap. That's not going to lower our damn costs.

  • Why is it that a bunch of the young turks videos magically reappear on my subscribed list days after I've already seen them? It's really irritating, does this happen to anyone else?

  • yep.. I don't know why some subscriptions pop up multiple times

  • fuck health care heal yourself

  • Why are you always generalizing with republicans?

  • In my opinion, in part, we as citizens pretty much caused the rampant increase of health care over the course of decades directly because of rampant lawsuits. But as I said in part, the other part is inflation on the prices of tangible goods directly used in both the medical and health industry. Which in turn hospitals and doctors have to compensate for, in order to shift the burden of final cost. Within my life I've seen soo many outrageous lawsuits, but only handfull with really legit merits.

  • To put the problems on the healthcare system onto the people being raped by it is absurd. Health care companies are not covering sick people. They are useless, and ridiculous. I pay you money in case I get hurt? How about I pay high ass taxes and the government takes care of their working class citizens like they should? I am sick and fed up of this bullshit. I am moving out the USA as a result of corporate America fucking my people in the ass for too long.

  • So where are you moving to "kickthecat232"? Cuba, Canada, Britain? You'll absolutely love the health care there....as long as you don't get sick and need tests and procedures in a timely manner. Bye, be sure to write.

  • are you saying in the US we get test in a timely matter?

    Are fucking kidding?

  • lol Damn. I was about to say the same thing, but you beat me to it.

  • really. a timely manner. people can see a plastic surgeon quicker than an acctual doctor.

  • Lawsuits account for only 1% of the total of health care costs. Please try something else, that Republican talking point has been debunked. Have you tried blaming the blacks or the jews? Or ACORN? Illegal immigrants..?

  • Less than 1% .. I think the actual number is .6%, sixth tenths of one percent.

  • so if we take the GDP of the United States for 2008 ($14.26 trillion) as an estimate, times that .006 that gives us$85,000,000,000. and then..... figure that our estimate more than likely is a little off, say somewhere around +/-8% which then gives a very rough figure of somewhere between $78,200,000,000 and $91,800,000,000 shelled out in TOTAL in 2008 for medical malpractice of somekind. Somebody somewhere is getting shafted to offset that cost. Which has a gradual inflating effect on cost.

  • Looked to me like baucas was being an asshole.

  • nobody even likes bacus' bitchass sellout

  • You are 100% correct in your analysis of that scene. Sen. Kyl's spent too much time with Sen. Hatch, lol!

  • wowwowoowowow.......asss holes...They should be working together....

  • what we need is for the senators to bring their guns and shoot it out ..hope after the smoke clears the GOP will have 0 senators left and the blue dog dems well be only a memory..maybe if we had doctors that wouldn't kill people there wouldn't be any need for malpractice law suits..1000's of people die or are seriously injured by doctors every yr in the US and the AMA and the government hide those facts

  • Here in my contry, we can't sue our doctor. This means you won't have people trying to make money with bogus suties.

  • i know people can sue for bogus shizz, but what if your doctor is eating a cheeseburger while transplanting your kidney? something must be done.

  • do u have free health care ? if so ur country must protect them from law suits..

  • yes thats why we can't sue. We can still charge them and have them aressted, along with any people who faild to stop there malpractice, we just can't go directly for comphensation, we will be given some, but 1st they have to be convicted.

  • no one has "free" health care, in every country which has a national health service it is tax based, and no the uk doesnt protect doctors from law suits.

  • We can sue cops why couldn't we sue doctors?

  • You can sue docs for malpractice.

  • Umm, democrats hate guns, so they probably wouldn't have any. As for doctors killing people, I wish you the best of luck having a lawyer operate on you.

1000s of people are killed in car accidents, so should we eliminate car manufacturers?

  • when the accident is because of a defect in the manufacture of the car they are liable to be sued ..lots of dems have guns and if they don't have one someone can loan em a gun-4-a-day...there r lots of doctors that shouldn't be in medicine because they don't know what they are doing or are drunk or on drugs etc

  • i'm a democrat and i love guns.

Do I have a republican view of gun-rights and so forth? not necessarily, but i still love guns. :)

  • american senators are so boring.

  • i love how foreigners watch american politics but we dont give a damn about your politics

  • I pay attention to foreign politics... How can you even form an opinion on foreign policy without at least a cursory background in the geopolitical environment?

  • The majority of Americans can't tell you who the french and Canadian minister is.

  • i'm willing to bet that a lot of canadians cant even tell you who teh canadian minister.

  • I'll take that bet.

  • u idiots we already have free care but keep pushing the isue and guess what all of the people that cant afford insurance now that dont have to have insurance, will have to pay a penalty great job.. u really think is not going to cost anything....keep dreaming

  • He was interrupted because he was exposing the fact that this "reform" is not going to lower costs for anyone. They are going up under this bill.

  • The GOP need to Stop their Cry-baby, Poor Loser Whining, and Just let it Happen!

  • do you mean soclised medicine?

  • Comment removed

  • yeah right, the chairman was a dick

  • These Repubicans had eight years to fix this and they did nothing except double health care premiums. They don't really care about anyone but the corporations profits.

  • @chinacat22 pffff, you're a fucking idiot

  • @chinacat22 I dont think u understand that we haven't lived in capitalism since the federal reserve. The housing boom was created from the government making the interest rates so low that the poor could buy homes. Then they couldnt afford the payments. Central economic planning doesn't work.

  • @chinacat22 I dont think u understand that we haven't lived in capitalism since the federal reserve. The housing boom was created from the government making the interest rates so low that the poor could buy homes. Then they couldnt afford the payments. Central economic planning doesn't work. We live in Corporationism

  • Hey Kyle...in the name of a conservative stance...can you give us a hand...instead of wasteful filibustering and grandstanding...maybe you and the others could be encouraged to mop the floors? It would really help us to save on some janitorial expense. Hey, since everybody's minds are already made up, perhaps you can get some real work done while we wait for results?

  • In the Name of Fascist regimes throw Kyle in jail already we don't have time for petty billions.

I just want to give all the tax money I can and let these guys slam through this bill so I can make money of insurance and drug company stocks already.

  • With the headline saying Senators get into fight...... I was hoping one of the draft dodgeing republicans was going to try to punch one of the Veteran Democrats, and the repuke got his ass handed to him.

  • LOL there's not one veteran commucrate they. They are all ex-lawyers and pimps.

  • GiantRobot,

"I'm trying to make an important point but you are not letting me finish!"

  • I wonder if senator Kyl has a solution to stop either medical malpractice or the lawsuits that result from it. Because if he doesn't his words meant nothing to the conversation, which means he indeed was filibustering. Cenk's right.

  • Stop medical malpractice? Why, this is America, we believe in freedom here.

  • i love to pull on my sister's thongs

  • tyt has no problem stating bias, dumbass

  • TYT is so partisan, it's retarded.

  • Its liberal radio d*ckhead!

  • i like the word progressive

  • they never said they weren't.

  • what an idiot video

  • its kinda true

  • I saw you Mr. anchor on MSNBC today. Kudos.

  • Baucus was an ass, and so is this commentator. Dems just do not WANT to talk about tort reform at all.

    Vote Independent.

  • Tort reform is nowhere close to being the determining factor that republicans always make it out to be. Yes, it is important, but republicans want to take it to the extreme where tort lawsuits will lose their capability as a deterrent to malpractice. All Kyle needed to do was to make a short statement about tort reform, and then shut up and allow the next Senator to make his/her point. Delaying tactics should be called for what they are, and I'm glad Baucus did so in this instance.

  • small ppl talk about ppl and great ppl talk about ideology thats y u r an anchor here on tht cheep show and they r senetor so stop doing that bull shit mr anchor

  • so true

  • nd thts y u cnt spell out werds at all nd sit in ur basement all day eatin cheetoz

  • Aw Snap!

  • Yeah but it would be helpful to see just how long he had been talking before he was interrupted.

  • I thought Cerk meant a actual fight.

  • i was hoping it was gonna b physical. oh well. stil unprofessional to the rest of the world...

  • I was hoping for a real fight fist-a-flying people getting hurt the whole shabang

  • that idiot guy shouldn't enterrupt the guy speaking!!! and then he smurked about irritating him. that guy was cool...i would have beaten the shit out of him and lost it on his ass! so that it will be the last time he interrupts me!!!!!!!!!!

  • And that's why you'll never be a senator...

  • i am a senator

  • Haha, well, considering your grammar, I could almost believe you.

  • i am a senator

  • I don't think these people realize who pays the bills. They wouldn't even have a job if it weren't for the people. They better wake the fuck up; 2010 is coming fast. America is waking up. REAL change is coming, and if these fools aren't ready to represent the will of the people, they better be ready to find jobs in the "evil" private sector like the rest of us. Liberalism, government incompetency, fiscal irresponsibility, and unchecked power are on the descendancy.

  • Wow a brainwashed drone telling people to wake up O_o...You DO realize that we're barely in a liberal government, one that had to inherit the fuck ups of a republican one for the past 8 years. Im not saying libs are perfect, no no, but at least libs mke much more sense than Reps 90% of the time. The only respectable Rep i see is Ron paul

  • Ron Paul? He wants to deregulate even more, and this would cause massive damage.

  • I like his ideas on the feds. Kuzinich , howvever you spell his name(though not a rep) also has a good Health care plan. No one is perfect on both sides of the spectrum.

  • Kucinich is a rep

  • really? damn i thought he went (I), thanks.

  • Oops, meant (D)

  • The Chairman can call a halt any time they want. Kile was allowing this to go on way too long.

  • Tool

  • Good luck with that, Adolf.

  • Hey Homeland, I think you need to contact your local Department Of Mental Health. It scares me to think that you own firearms.

  • Troll.

  • HomleandSecurity wrote, "The Republicans need to start bringing guns to Senate meetings. It's time to stand up for America and George Washington Christ [sic] and to start shooting libtards on the streets."

Of all the insanely stupid comments I've read today, this one takes the cake.

What you have just said is CRAZY -- and it makes you NO BETTER than any other nutcase that advocates violence against other people.

NO ONE needs to be "shooting" anyone, be they liberals or conservatives.

  • you call this a fight?

  • aww man, i was hoping for an actual fist fight

  • The democrat was the chairmen, its his job to run the meeting and make sure every one is heard. Republicans along with losing there minds have also lost respect for there jobs and civil discourse.

  • "Yeah but you're delaying" wtf is he 12 yrs old?

  • Fuck off, you diseased Gimp Troll.

  • Yeah, there should be no dialog in the Senate b/c everyone's mind is already made up. They should just show up and vote...no debate, no discussions, no review of facts and fiscal implications. This is one of the stupidest videos I've ever seen on the internet (and that's saying a lot).

  • Baucus is a fucking scumbag

  • RIGHT-WING GOP AGENDA:

REPUBLICANS want PRESIDENT OBAMA to fail.

Their MARCHING ORDERS are: CREATE DISSENSION & FEAR:

    - Lie, Misinform, Criticize, Oppose, Stall, Filibuster & try to Derail EVERYTHING & ANYTHING that the President & the Democratic Party propose to Restore our Economy, Reform Health Care for all Americans & Bring our Nation into the 21st Century.

    - But WE THE PEOPLE are standing firm with our PRESIDENT.

    - We'll NEVER allow the Doomsday Right-Wing GOP to succeed!!

  • - But WE THE PEOPLE are standing firm with our PRESIDENT.

    says the dwindling approval ratings......

  • Deranged & deluded much?

  • Yeh I know, but some democrats are pure scumbags. Proposing a bill that makes you buy into private insurance and if you don't, you get fined?! Obama is a fucking wuss for actually listening to the GOP.

  • If it was the Republican that fad 60 senators, it would be the abolition of Social Security, Medicare, Medicate and Welfare, the republican would be discussing in that Committee, not Democrats allowed. There tried with only 50 and Dick Cheney, and here you have a Democrat super majority and these Wimps gives all the key positions to the Enemy Republicans.

How it is that you can have a Radical Extremist like Senator Kyl is a that debate when the man thinks Women do not need Maternity Care?

  • the Dem senator was being rude. I don't know how long the Rep was taking. But its not good form.

  • OBAMA CARE = BUY INSURANCE OR GO TO JAIL!

Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and could face up to a year in jail or a $25,000 penalty, Barthold wrote on JCT letterhead. He signed it "Sincerely, Thomas A. Barthold."

  • idiot.

  • ALbanZap - LOL , that's the only thing you can say when confronted with reality?

  • lol number one your statement is grossly exagerrated and misleading. number two ok lets not do any reform and continue to allow healthcare companies to rob us blind and allow them to continue to kill off the people they should be covering....idiot.

  • That's not a fight, that's just some verbal posturing

  • Its the insurance companies that are the problem. Period. Yes, the health of people are a factor, but are minute relative to the insurance companies. Think about it. What purpose do they really serve? When is the last time you actually knew how much a doctor's visit cost? Do you use your car insurance to get an oil change at Jiffy Lube? Its how we treat medical insurance, so why not?

  • I really wished I had a better senator than Kyle. Damn Arizona senators!

  • When your nation is fifty percent neanderthal and they have the biggest voices you are screwed.

  • Don't worry, give it 10 or 15 years and the USA will have devolved a hell of a lot more than this.

  • haha, hey kyl, don't let the door hit you in the vagina on the way out. this is nothing, go to the uk or canada if you want some serious legislative bickering.

  • have TYK ever not guzzled the dem cock on an issue? this show is so pathetically bias. republicans and democrats are shitbags. and this guy is a fuckin jock if i've ever seen one.

  • You may be right, but I do agree with mal-practice reform. The huge percents the trial lawyers charge is a huge drain on the health-care industry. I think it's something like 30%.

If we just have a program that pays for medical bills for people who are victims of mal-practice or accidents, and have a cap on how much they can sue. We can lower health care costs by getting rid of the trial lawyers, and the medical-mal-practice insurance costs.

  • Attacking malpractice suits is only attacking a symptom, not the problem. The reason health care is so expensive is because it is privatized. We pay twice as much as other industrialized countries who have universal health care. I say, cutting medical costs nearly in half would probably reduce the rewards of malpractice suits nearly in half. More of a win-win there then in simply removing a person's ability to sue a bad doctor.

  • I'm not so sure that the privatized nature of health care is the real root of the problem. In my opinion, the real root is the unhealthy lifestyle of the American public. If we were each personally responsible for living in a healthy way, health care would already be affordable to everyone, whether publicly or privately offered. I agree that we should talk about the root cause, but that cause has to be defined and the elephant in the room needs to be walked out.

  • You sound like that little conservative kid.

"Its so simple, i have it all figured out. Just need to get healthy people in and sick people out"

    Its never that simple.

  • I didn't mean to make it sound simple. Of course this is a difficult thing to take on. I happen to support the public option (actually, single payer system), but I don't believe that system is affordable as long as we have personal irresponsibility in health decisions by our citizens. I also believe, based on my extensive research on the topic, that the primary reason for rising healt costs is not insurance greed, but poor American health.

  • I've seen unbiased statistics that point out that 80% of heart disease is avoidable. 72% of type 2 diabetes is avoidable. I myself have high risk factors for both (I'm overweight, smoker, never work out), but I've started to make changes to my behavior (stopped smoking, eating healthy, joined a gym and working out) because I don't want to be part of the problem. I view personal health now as my personal responsibility. It's bigger than that, though. My ill health is a burden on America.

  • The real root of the problem is capitalism, but there is no way congress is going to do anything about that. With our health care in the hands of an entity whose soul purpose is profit, we can not expect to see our best interests taken into account. Our life style is more profitable to a private health insurance industry then a government-run health insurance industry. This is evident in pre-existing condition clauses, denial of service based on typos in documentation, and other things.

  • Our lifestyle may be more profitable and corporate America may prefer us to be unhealthy, but who eats the big mac? Who lights that cigarette? These may be choices we make based on input from advertising and manipulative schemes, but it is still a choice. We call obesity an epidemic in this country. It is not an epidemic, it is the result of bad personal choices. I'm obese by definition, not because of some disease, but because I've eaten too much crap while playing video games.

  • So, you don't think addiction is real? Research addiction, addictive food additives, additive chemicals in cigarettes, and addictive behavior regarding video games and get back to me.

  • Addiction means that something is hard to give up, not impossible. I don't believe that a nagging craving is bigger or more important than a person's overall well-being. I don't believe that an annoying urge is bigger than the financial and societal costs that it sows. I don't need to research anything in order to prioritize these things. I'm not dismissing addiction, but we can't keep accepting addiction as an excuse for inaction. Breaking an addiction is hard, but isn't it worth it?

  • The problem with modern addiction is that it is compounded with a much larger social problem: an unwarranted feeling of self importance compounded with a perceived inability to be wrong. Addiction would be a smaller problem if addictive personalities weren't nurtured to the extent they are. People that are obese DO have their priorities straight, their priorities are the problem. Making someone who gets their only pleasure in life from food stop eating is a difficult task to accomplish.

  • That's a really good point and one that I hadn't considered. It doesn't change the root cause (in my mind), but it makes tackling that root cause more difficult. Add to that the need to remove profit from the whole mix and we are looking at a 3-legged stool of reform. 1 leg stands for a healthier population. 1 leg stnds for social changes in personal self worth. 1 leg stands for insurance regulation. Are we sure we want to trust something this complex to our current congress?

  • I don't trust the current congress to actually fix anything, only to put a band-aid over the problem. I just want the band-aid to cover the parts of most concern.

  • I agree with personal responsibility, and I appreciate your tone, even when attacked (earlier). We should certianly promote healthier lifestyles, and discourage less healthy choices. However, the German diet is JUST as unhealthy as the American diet, and I would guess the high dairy of the French is not too good.

  • I thank you for your kind words. I find in Youtube conversations that keeping a logical and gentle tone usually keeps the attack dogs from responding.

Are you making the point that German and French diets are just as unhealthy as ours, but their health insurance costs are more under control? I've never seen anything to support or debunk that, but the argument is an intriguing one if true.

  • The need to make progress, and quick, is due to the fact this debate has dragged on for too long as it is, and there's a lot this administration needs to address. Next up bank regulation reform where we can expect a repeat performance from the Republicans and Corporatist Democrats.

  • John Kyl's having a hissy fit just like the pussy he is.

America's only real enemies are Republicans.

  • millionaires running the country dont live in the real world thats why were going downhill if ur rich no politiky for u so u can scratch each others backs and poor white trash joe gets uckedfa in the assfa

  • you call this a political fight, have you never seen a UK parliament debate

  • Funny that´s the first thing I thought.

  • let the guy talk its his right.

  • coldbowl I know you´re kidding right? Did you actually admit you´re not comfortable hearing info from someone who doesn´t pat your ego inside a bubble?

Did you actually write ¨opion¨ in caps?

Did you actually write commie? Are you stuck in the 50´s?

It´s like you´re huffing and puffing to yourself. Your comment doesn´t even have a point so I assume you´re joking.

If not, epic fail on multiple levels.

  • no hack-anyone that supports the democrats on health care reform, loves socialism- "young turks" appears to be backing them so I dubb thee "commies looking for a free hand out" so...read these letters "STFU"
