  • amazing voice.

  • Brilliant man, brilliant actor, brilliant storyteller, brilliant gentleman, brilliant dresser, brilliant speaker, brilliant intervewee, brilliant drinker...

  • Peter O'Toole has always been a huge inspiration for me as an actor/film maker. Oddly, I have the name Ryan O'Toole and have always been hoping there was some relation.

  • I remember meeting him on the set of Lord Jim just after his success in Lawrence of Arabia, I was one of many extras in the movie and he would always stop and smile and say hello, then many years later I was in a pub in Chelsea with my girlfriend and he came and sat at our table, introduced himself (as if we didn't know who he was) and chatted with us as if we were old friends, I couldn't believe it. What a wonderful, wonderful man, a truly class act.

  • Oh, that voice!

  • That voice is timeless.

  • -MmhmmF!

-So Mr O Tool, you claim there is a back-story here?

-Fine, i can live with that.

..No. This will not suffice. I demand more of you. Lawrence, drunken binges, Masada and so forth on will not suffice. -Explain yourself!

  • That made me smile immensely.

  • god,I love this man!

  • What was little hm hm noise he makes at the end.

  • @weirdcitykid ,i think after summing up his life, itsa wrye little giggle at the thought of what he has got up to.this is a tremendous advert, and to finish with,i`ve done a bit of acting as well,is genuis.

  • Peter O'Toole is brilliant. I love his movies, the way he lived his life - he lived it his way - no bars. Read the book "Hellraisers" and read about his wild times with his friends.

  • @wharfmouse I have that book and LOVE it. Almost makes your heart break at the thought of such consumate actors like Burton and Harris gone now. Only O'Toole left and God knows how much longer we'll have him. They just don't make 'em like that anymore. Class Acts all.

  • God YES! And was Venus a masterpiece? Yes. I think as legends of film rank I can only include Paul Newman as an equal. Also check out this interview. A class act for life, he is. youtube.com/watch?v=LCJ7mLxPR8E&feature=fvw

  • Just brilliant... As he has ever been! Thank you.

  • I actually laughed pretty damned hard at the punch line. "he he..."

  • GANGSTER.

  • what a beast

  • "Once or twice ive bin the VILLUN"

  • Ladies and Gentlemen, Sir Peter O'Toole.

    The best actor. Ever.

  • he was never knighted... he turned down the offer in the 80's

  • He makes one feel that life is wonderful in spite of "mans many faults". Peter O'Toole rocks.

  • OMG, for sure, the best actor EVER.

  • @Asdrubalmao He actually hasn't been knighted yet.

  • @martythetickler He was offered a knighthood in the past (I think back in the 80's) and refused it.

  • It is absolutely idiotic that Sir Peter O'Toole has never received an Oscar for best actor or supporting actor, it is outrages and bloody incompressible.

Sir Peter O'Toole is one of the few best actor that ever was.

  • But you've been out drinking with him, it seems, Jonathan. There's compensation in that.

  • He is so destinctive that the moment he stands up, even from behind, you know who it is. Love him!!!

  • "Destinctive," KD? Yes, you could put it that way.

  • Where do I subscribe? Sign me up!

  • HAHAHAH LEGEND THE WAY HE SAYS VILLAN

  • do it, do it now.

  • So true, so true.

  • Heh you're messed up. brilliant.

  • That was great because Peter is great!

  • In My Life I enjoyed this Great Man.s work!

  • In my life I've been the hero. And once or twice I've been the villain. Sometimes I've enjoyed being the fool. I've happily given my heart & taken my fair share of wickets.

    I've challenged priests and politicians;

    drank with rogues and revolutionaries.

I've been in some truly great battles: in my mind and on the playing field. In my life I have been many men. And every now and then I've done a bit of acting.

  • Is this from a poem or speech? Because it sounds almost similar to one (but shorter) given when Alex Ferguson got an award, I think it was his lifetime of achievement or PFA merit award 07. Sean Connery was the one speaking then but its a beautiful speech. Please help?

  • O'Toole's voice alone is so great. Great writing, too...never thought an ad would bring lump to my throat!

  • Is this a poem or did Peter O'T compose it? Does anyone know the title of it?

  • I love that if a younger, less experienced actor does an advert, it looks like they're selling out, but with a man like Mr. O'Toole you know its because he's spent his life working hard and he'll do whatever he damn well pleases.

  • @soulreaper555 Haha. TRUE!

  • what is this music called? it's so beautiful.

  • Thank you ! so much for posting this. I love Peter and I love this add :-) It really does say everything.

  • they will play this at the oscars when he dies. hope this won't be for a long time yet.

  • anyone know what piece of music this is??... really quite relaxing

  • It's Pete Droge.

  • To clarify... the piano music was written and performed by Pete Droge.

  • Many thanks - a truly classic piece of video - the quality of his delivery is a masterclass in acting - thanks Peter...must go get a copy of the Times now !

  • This is a work of art! The words(which seem very close to his heart, certainly Do explain his life). The simple piano music, the whole composition, truely a wonderful advert.

    Merci for posting!

  • Great copy. Great acting. Very nice production.

  • Does anyone remember an ad where Peter O'Toole was dressed as a wizard and it finished with a small boy playing rugby. Is this ad on youtube, does anyone know ?

  • Is this a famous passage he is reading or something scripted especially for the ad?

  • this is a great ad. I have seen a fantastic photo of Peter sharing a joke over a drink with Richard Harris - two old and grey men who both have a glint in their eye! They are suited and look like they are at a table in a fine hotel or resturant. I've scoured the web - does anyone know where I might find it??

  • its taken by Snowdon and is available in a book of his theatre photographs. national theatre bookshop may have a copy

and the hotel is the dorchester or possibly the savoy

  • thankyou so much - thats really kind of you to take the time to pass that on!

    cheers! :)

  • my pleasure! i think i have a copy of that picture somewhere. if i find it i'll let you know.

  • They were at the Savoy hotel I believe. The photo is under Google images, you may have to scoll through a few pages.

  • I've just checked that-

They were at the Dorchester and the photo was taken by Snowdon. Just Google image "richard harris and peter o'toole" and it will be the first photo that shows up.

  • Thank you so much, i caught the end of this on tv last week and i've been searching online for it since

  • This is an awesome ad

Peter O'Toole is a giant among men

  • i love this advert thanks for putting it on :)
