captain jeff..can you get good tarpon action close to the shore while beach fishing? i used to swim my bait about 100yards offshore for years until i recently had an encounter with a 10 foot bull shark within 100 feet of me..so i need to get a kayak to take the bait out..lately i 've been casting my bait about 100 feet out and have only got 1 tarpon in the past 2 weeks..but the week before that i had a 6 tarpon week, from 80 up to 130..i was hoping it had something to do with tides/lunar phase
@jsg2891 hooked up with a 80lb+ tarpon 15-20 feet from shore south of the juno pier....you just got to be at the right place at the right time... 3pm the bait was about 60 yards from the shore and i wade fished thru 4 sharks and a rip current left and came back at 6pm all the bait was right on the shoreline tarpon and snook going crazy
what the fuck are you talking about its illegal to take them outta the water.... i have taken a tarpon out of the water in front of fwp they said nothing...
what a bunch of crap. secret spot called the hot canal, south of port everglades, warm water discharge canal, you guys are full of yourself. we been doin that for the last 30 years, you idiots! i think you spell it googan
wow look at all the haters, fuck anyone who hates on the boat ramp boys, just a bunch of lunkertards, captn jeff, bursaman, and freshwater job....catchin lunkers and havin fun, keep it up guys!
This man is an obnoxious self obsessed, self loving supercilious cunt. Oh by the way I dont know you, and wouldn't want to either. Your fishing spot looks really secret, no one goes there, even though there is a building and planes flying overhead. Dumbass
Secret spot my BALLS!!!! Thats the Marina off 595, you don't know me thank god! I've caught more Tarpon than you've ever seen......BrokenBones Charters!!!!
In the area I grew up, NW Dade county (and 10 miles inland) I've seen and/or caught tarpon, snook, snapper, jack cravelle, permit, blue crabs, and even an occasional sting ray.
It is quite common for fish normally found in saltwater to migrate and acclimate themselves to freshwater canals several miles from the ocean.
Tarpon (what this fish is) are just one of the many types of ocean-going fish that use these areas for breeding. However, there is an enormous resident population of the same throughout the Intercoastal waterway and canal system.
For those unfamiliar with South Florida, this is one canal, in a series of interconnected canals, that lead to a deeper channel. The deeper channel, known as the Intercoastal Waterway, is between the mainland and the barrier islands. As one moves further inshore the water becomes brackish, as in mangrove swamps and estuaries, and less and less salty as you move farther inland.
The tarpon caught in this video is nice but, hardly a rarity. And this fisherman's resucitative efforts are common practice amongst saltwater anglers down here. Plenty of us still keep and eat what we catch but, the tarpon isn't much for tablefare.....
That was no 100lb Tarpon and you wanna try fishing the fly for them on a 10 weight rod. Also dont you know that when a fish jumps you lower your rod. Typical American so full of Himself and S**t
ok u idiot bullseyed, britbrat1995 and who ever asked the silly question(where is the she shark).the author of vid or fish watever is the one ccaled shark plz read guys
It isn't a river - it is a canal that is off an inlet to the ocean - near the Fort Lauderdale airport (hence the airplane). I have fished there many times. It isn't at all "secret". It is close to a power plant which kicks out warm water, so the tarpon congregate there. I have caught many tarpon in that exact spot. I have also had hammerhead sharks chase the tarpon. And finally, I agree with haggggs, I really don't care to know this freak show either.
