  • You can allow your fingers to lean to the left.

  • I've been pointing my thumb towards the nut, too. I've been watching a million videos, but none of them address this problem. I thought I had a mutated hand or something, because it felt so awkward to keep the thumb straight. But FINALLY, I found your video and I don't feel so hopeless anymore. THANK YOU!

  • my fingers tend to bunch together and i learned to work with it but i still have problems and need help getting correct finger posture

  • cut your nails

  • Exactly same problem here.. ^_^

  • place ur fingers paralel to the strings rest your dumb straight behind n in between the first and second fingers do all of this relaxed loose then to stretch to notes bend your wrist so your hand wraps around the fretboard but keep your wrist straight when ur not stretching use your shoulder to apply presure to the back of the neck dont use ur hand, forearm elbow dumb relax those lean your shoulder forward to go higher notes stick elbow bak shoulder bak for notes close to the headstock elbow in

  • Oh gosh, did you read about this stuff when you started out? Good luck with it, keep rocking no matter what.

  • good luck!

  • A lot of beginners have similar problems... you could try a Space Trainer - a kind of plastic frame that helps guide your hand to teh right position

  • Did you ever work out your left hand issues, I watched your video and all the issues you were having so am I.

I would love to get some info from you as to how you solved your problems. Left wrist bent for example...

  • search for freepowerug he has a great video on posture which i think would help you a lot.

  • oh and almost forgot, NO LOOKING AT THE FRETBOARD WHILE PLAYING

NOT AT ALL!!!!!!, otherwhise youll be stuck learning by positions instead of learning the right way,

    by ear....

  • do what i say 2 hours a day for a week and youll understand what im talking about, trustme you will miss the strings all the time at the begining but then they will start to know where the strings are, but is must be done with your head, no tension on the fingers at all, let your head do the work.

  • the best thing to do is keep your elbow towards your body and bend your wrist almost all the way towards you, at the begining it will will akward but then your fingers will start to do the job, just dont try to hurry up to play something, and no and i mean NO tension on the fingers, you will miss the strings all the time at the begining but then your fingers will find the strings by themselves, i know it will fill ashamefull at the begining but youre a begginer arent you?

  • i have the same promblem.i feel uncomfortable if i dont play with the first way but it also hinders my fingers to do some moves

  • For alot of stretches you will not be able to keep your fingers parallel.

  • you guys also need to stretch, before and after you play to prevent injuries, look for some videos on classical guitar technique for proper form, you can use it on electric and do very well, and if something hurts back off and take a break for a second.

  • Ya, I have issues with tension in my LH, esp when I'm holding a barre for a while. I've been playing ten years and I think I have mostly decent LH position, but not having formal training, there might be things there that are bad technique and are causing my issues. One thing is I think I squeeze too much and use too much thumb pressure, like you were saying, rather than fingers. Trying to find some tips. lutemann's videos on LH helped. By the way, you have a great accent. Where from?

  • I have been able to correct it some since I made this, i still have some issues, but it's at least better than it was. I use my fingers more now :D. I do bends wrong though, I use my fingers and not my wrist :(. Oh, and thanks, I'm Finnish :D.

  • ya, I think becoming aware that you doing it wrong and paying attention to your placement and such is a huge step. It's annoying to retrain yourself, though. ANyways, good luck. Cheers

  • Annoying to retrain yourself???!!! NO WAY, aaaaaah, it was HELL!!! It took a few months and I was constantly frustrated since I didn't know if I was doing it wrong or not. But hey, I managed to, so woot. :D

  • Hey there, Even I suffered a lot with my left .,it still hurts me at times :(

  • Hehe, I did a video prior to this one, but in my anxiousness to not have any dead time and trying hard to get across my point, I kept saying left when I meant right, and I'm noticing here I'm simply saying "left hand position" when what I mean is "the CLASSICAL position" *laughs*. Oh well. Ty for watching, I'll do a video on my sitting and holding it, although I don't think there's much flaws in the rest of my positin.

  • You mayb be having trouble with how you hold the guitat. Do a video of you playing so I can see the whole story.

  • Don't bend the wrist if you can help it. Where the thumb ends up is not important. Watch my left hand videos.
