Well, I was in the military and was abused when I was married but it had nothing to do with the military. And we were in the Air Force. The Army is stressfull. These so called wars or unnecessary and endless. And rediculous. I also know that women who were cheating on their husbands got beat up for it once the husbands found out. So, it goes both ways. It is stressful being in the military.
Im on my nephews account and i was the vitcim of domestic abuse from my ex who is a solider i got no help from anybody i was told that they are there for their soldier not us spouses and that they would put him in the barricks for three days that shit did not work they did not watch him closely and he came home within hours and started another fight i wasthe one that had to leave my home just to be safe there has got to be more help for spouses and the soldiers there needs to be help for all

'Staying Home, Leaving Violence' helps the woman and kids to stay in the home, and the perpetrator is the one who has to leave. About time! Both State, Federal and Territory Govts in Australia are working together to try and stop this scourge on women's lives. Things are improving all the time. wow, read a couple good books on the dynamics of abuse and how it destroys the psyche of a person. A woman reacts different to abuse than a man. A woman freezes and is in shock trauma most of her time in an abusive situation.
A woman also is spiritual and emotionally bonded in unhealthy ways to the abuser.
If people read enough about real stories and the way to solve domestic abuse or even captured peoples situations, they would not make a comment like that.

Secondly, the rate of domestic violence in the military world, is virtually the same in the civilian world, even with the elevated stress levels and PTSD. One thing that can elevate PTSD is when you come home and you're treated as a criminal by protesters who throw rocks and bottles at you and call you a murderer. Compare the WW2 PTSD to Vietnam. WW2 greeted as heros(low ptsd) Vietnam greeted as criminals(high ptsd).

As a survivor, I can say this is an incredibly accurate report. I can also say, so many of those comments are disgusting and horribly inaccurate. Regardless, when troops return home, the mental health system is ill equipped to assess their mental well-being- my ex was diagnosed while still overseas with warning signs of PTSD, and fell through the cracks. After a long twisted process, when I reported him, they did nothing- he spent a few hours in jail and slept in the barracks until I moved out.
Sorry to say it but the last thing a trained killer who has murdered wants to do is love and respect life again. These men are trained to mentally go against their conscience and heart and told that they won't survive unless they do OVER and OVER again. I think that the soldiers that do these things are " weak minded" so to speak. It would seem to me that if they return home to their wife and kids, that would calm them down, especially to a loving home. I would turn to God for guidance and strength. He can help you through anything.
He should have been smart enough to make a change that could have included not living with her. A transition back to civilian life is tough in fact most recouperating vets find it easier to live with a battle buddy for a while. It is called shock trauma. When people get into shock they no longer have control of their own lives or senses.
It is well documented in survivor stories of war prisoners or kidnapping stories.
The captor uses forms of control that overpower their victims, so that eventually the victims no longer operate under normal manners.
Shock trauma sets in with repeated violence or abuse and the person eventually believes they have no way out. It is very scary.

First off, any grown man who makes gang symbols needs therapy. Secondly, the rate of domestic violence in the military world, is virtually the same in the civilian world, even with the elevated stress levels and PTSD. One thing that can elevate PTSD is when you come home and you're treated as a criminal by protesters who throw rocks and bottles at you and call you a murderer. Compare the WW2 PTSD to Vietnam. WW2 greeted as heros(low ptsd) Vietnam greeted as criminals(high ptsd).

i dont even know wher to start ... soldiers do need to get help after such a deployment ... and the system needs to step up .. my cousin was friends with a female who was married to a soldier ... he beat her multipul of times threatend to kill the son and her .. when we offered her help she was too scared when she tried to report him they did nothing and she was beaten to the hospital ... now hes tryin to get her to go to his home country .. iran .. shes scared to death for her life and the

The Troops are risking their lives for you... fighting Wars they believe you want them to fight.

As a survivor, I can say this is an incredibly accurate report. I can also say, so many of those comments are disgusting and horribly inaccurate. Regardless, when troops return home, the mental health system is ill equipped to assess their mental well-being- my ex was diagnosed while still overseas with warning signs of PTSD, and fell through the cracks. After a long twisted process, when I reported him, they did nothing- he spent a few hours in jail and slept in the barracks until I moved out.

Sorry to say it but the last thing a trained killer who has murdered wants to do is love and respect life again. These men are trained to mentally go against their conscience and heart and told that they won't survive unless they do OVER and OVER again. If they DARE love their children or wives they would unlock MASS amounts of shame for the crimes they commited. There is no loving life after taking it.

I think that the soldiers that do these things are " weak minded" so to speak. It would seem to me that if they return home to their wife and kids, that would calm them down, especially to a loving home. I would turn to God for guidance and strength. He can help you through anything.

He should have been smart enough to make a change that could have included not living with her. A transition back to civilian life is tough in fact most recouperating vets find it easier to live with a battle buddy for a while. He should have realized maybe his wife would have been worth some distance.

I think to an extent these guys can not help it. When my husband came back from a second tour in Iraq, he was a completely different man but is still love dhim and wanted to be by his side. He swore up and down that i was cheating when i never cheated on him. I worshiped him. Instead of asking me he through me up aginst the bathroom door, and he put a knife to my throat. he told me he was going to "paint a pretty smile on my face." he can not help himself.

I think your comment is untrue. If U are/were military you'd know many spouses R not helped 4 many reasons (past behavior, not believed, soldier too valued/honored, etc). And just b/c they have access 2 a Family Svce Ctr doesn't mean they'll receive help needed. There R so many facets 2 both sides (Katie C. covered BOTH sides) its hard 2 know where th system starts & where it ends. We should empathize B4 criticizing & B4 slamming a war vet, switch places 1st - I found that comment offensive.

That's what happens in a beauracracy - if you ever worked for the government (city, state or federal) you'd know that. My city job isn't a matter of nat'l security but if I give out wrong info or didn't act lickety-split on an issue I OBSESS over it in my head. Military Families Speak Out has support groups nationwide. Also, Iraq Veterans Against the War LA Chapter has access to an Acupuncturist to help treat PTSD. 300,000 soldiers will return with PTSD; only 1/2 of them will seek treatment.
To learn to kill as barbarically as the US military /Empire demands, our soldiers are abused. When 17 year olds out of boot camp tell me I WANT TO GO TO IRAQ TO KILL ALL IRAQIS...I hope we know somethings wrong.

When they say "I want to go...to kill all Iraqi's" I think they R expressing a deep rooted feeling of responsibility 2 protect their country - 9/11 affected many people in many ways. What they say isn't wrong, the help afterwards is what's lacking. Acupuncture IS NOT mental therapy & doesn't cure PTSD.The ability 2 open up & seek help not fearing reprisal is what's key.The half who 'don't seek treatment' U can neither criticize nor understand.

I myself am recovering from PTSD and have used in addition to counseling, a form of acupressure called tapping. Counseling is what our Vets need, but the funding is obviously not there., so of Iraq Vets Aainst the War (LA) have located a low cost Acup. who uses it to HELP! Why are you defensive? I am not criticizing, merely stating a fact.

Do you want to know why Yahoo! removed the comments sections for their news articles a couple of years ago? The posts like "1st comment", and commercials for garbage, and other various spam being posted, were all part of their decision to do that. And the yelling, and the cursing, and the threats being made between people!
I don't think they ever put it back up, I haven't checked so I'm not sure, but if they didn't I fully understand why now! I don't think anyone cares if your comment was 1st!
