  • Love this version. I have seen them 3 times, and they are always amazing.

  • Every one of DCFC's songs captures a certain time of my life and makes me remember things like where, when, and who for me. This music evokes very powerful and sometimes sad emotions from me and I don't know if that's good or bad. I can sometimes get very sad listening to this music and it makes me often wish I could turn back time.

  • God... I've listened to death cab for so long... listening to them gives me memories of my childhood.. My all time favorite band.

  • where did these videos come from? I mean I never heard of a DVD or anything

  • Anyone know where i can get the audio of this? I really like this version a lot.

  • @Amulius if you use firefox you can get an addon that will let you download the mp3 straight from the video

  • these guys are all true artists. in every sense.

  • They came out in the 90s when music was good and stuff.

  • i really love the passion Ben Gibbard puts into how he plays the guitar and sings.

  • so beautiful. benjamin seems like such a unique individual to know.

  • fuck yeah! Love SAA can't believe they're still playing this song...brings me to tears my favorite band for god, seven years now?

  • Man i love this band, I really do, they make some of the best music out there, but I just cant listen to it, it's too damn depressing!

  • you know a band is fucking wicked when they sound x10000 better live than on their actual record. death cab for evahhhhhh <3

  • I love this song!!!!!!!!

  • i love benjamin

  • just stumbled upon this video while looking for another band :P clicked it cos i realised they're supporting Foo Fighters on the 2nd of July and i'm gonna be there! :D

  • @nathand612 FF and DCFC?! WIN

  • this is better than the album version.

  • overdubbed

  • luv this band,, What allbum is this song in?? i cannot find it

  • @Timeofjay Something about Airplanes.

  • That lucky bastard on the shelf :)

  • Fuck yes...that Starcaster...fuck yes.

  • im 11 and ive been listening to this amazing band since 2009. almost 2 years.

  • 3 people got bruised.

  • How the hell does Nick manage to rock out so hard no matter how simple the bass line is?

  • I love the harmonies DCFC do on their guitars....

  • @shanec2008 it's probably my favorite part about the band.

  • 2 people missed the like button

  • If I'm having a bad day, this song makes everything better. This version is amazing.

  • jason Mcgerr is awesome.

  • i love chris walla

  • wat kind of gutar is the semi hollow one? anyyone know??

  • @h3at32 its some sort of G&L. both ben and chris use g&l's al the time

  • @GotTimeToooKill actually it's a Fender Starcaster, a really rare model

  • its a fender starcaster, they only made they for a little while but gibson's es-335 owned them

  • What an awesome performance,

  • Such a killer version of this song. I love how walla plays Emaj7 while (correct me if I'm wrong... kind of just going by ear w/ this one... And I didn't take music theory..) ben plays a variation of a B. That's not in the original version. I thoroughly enjoyed it... Even more so than the studio recording.

  • Lets face it this band is underated.

  • I feel that unlike most bands nowadays,Death Cab are in sync. When I hear and see them playing in sessions like this, you can really tell that each instrument compliments the others whereas with some bands,I feel like they're all playing seperately, competing with each other. Another reason They're my favorite band.

  • This sounds so much more vibrant than the version on Something About Airplanes

  • I still belive this is the best album they have written, It always makes me feel at home when i listen to Your Bruise, or Amputations, or any song from Something About Air Planes, New Listeners go buy Something about airplanes, its worth every cent.

  • I can't even think of something to comment on this video. Absolutely phenomenal

  • seeing this reminds me why i love music and death cab so much

  • wow. the guitars sound so so so well mixed. beautiful

  • theyve got the volumes and everything completely nailed. it sounds amazing on my Monitors.

  • i have yet to hear a bad song from them...

  • that s my fav dcfc album

  • holy shit, this song is amazing. is it currently on any albums? or does anyone know if it's going to be?

  • welcome to the death cab circa 1998.

this song was on Something About Airplanes, death cab's very first album as a full band.

    brilliant, brilliant album :)

  • @kato0291: thanks so much. i can't believe i didn't know about this album! much appreciated.

  • @PaigeandRowanne Eh holmes, I find their older shit waay better then their new stuff and since you love this song i thought ud like some of their other old albums just in case you havent heard them, forbidden love ep is awesome, same with photo album , my favourite is we have the facts and were voting yes which goes back to 2000 i believe check it out and enjoy :D!

  • @HamidBa dude thanks so much, you're quite helpful! i appreciate it!

  • it's already on their 1999 album "something about airplanes'

    excellent song either way!

  • No doubt, 100% love this song more than on the CD.

  • Yeah this music is awesome!

Look the drums, guitar, bass line!!

    Lyric

    Death Cab Rox!!!

  • just discovered this band.

    i think they're amazing.

    love the lirycs,

    the sound,

    the chills.

  • @cicciapacicciaebasta hopefully u didnt discover them from new moon.

  • @bobert995 hahaha no way! can't immagine my shock when i found out that they wrote the "meet me on the equinox" song just for that..."movie"!! O__O

  • @cicciapacicciaebasta ok.cool.that is probably their worst song.its not bad, just not good.

  • @bobert995 in fact, they wrote it for...new moon!

  • @cicciapacicciaebasta Just discovered? where have you been????! in a cave?

haha im joking, they kick ass.

  • "it's a backwards attraction, to your forward eyes."

there lyrics are some of the most amazing i've ever heard =]

  • @sydneyrhxoxo I honestly dont understand that line, care to explain It sounds amazing though.. :|

  • @tehnubster69

i dont know how to explain it in words...

almost like its suppose to be wrong, but some how its right..

  • Gotta love Death Cab.

  • How have I never heard of this song?

    It is AMAZING.

Oh, Death Cab. How I love you.

  • This is such an amazing song. It's great to hear some of their old stuff that they still play.

I've never heard this one before, and I'm glad I finally have.

    DEATH CAB I LOVE YOU

  • this band is all about the music, no media bullshit.

    i love that.

look at how theyre just jamming. thats what its all about

    geez theyre amazing.

  • wow he was skinny when he first started, got a little big, and now he's back to the same size, and replaced the glasses with contacts, amazing ! haha been a fan for years

  • isnt this the first song DCFC played in seattle at the first show?

i think i have the light blue cd... and it is

  • I think it was just their first show at the Crocodile Cafe...not Seattle overall.

  • It is so amazing to watch Ben and Chris switch off the guitar parts in this song, each one taking a differrent role at one time, and then going back and doing the other's part until it comes around again.

  • AMAZING song, but for some reason, the guitar in the beggining and end, though an AMAZING tune, is very depressing...

  • Wow, one of their best.

  • baaah i think i'm just going to die of happiness right now.

this gave me goosebumps, too. i love all of their stuff. . .except Bixby Canyon Bridge. that song annoys me so much, and i don't know why, and it makes me sad because DCFC is my all-time favorite.

man, i sound like such a fangirl.

  • Bixby Canyon Bridge is amazing.

  • @sydneyrhxoxo For real... It's a shame Narrow Stairs didn't sound more like that and I Will Possess Your Heart. Those two songs were such departures, but it's like they got exhausted by the drastic change that they revert back to the same ol' past track 2. For the most part anyway. That second to last song is in the same league I would say too, maybe.

  • i love the old stuff too.

we have the facts and we're voting yes: my favorite.

  • oh shit, they played an old song. more of that please and ditch the current narrow stairs and beyond :p

  • i agree, i fucking love the old stuff, especially you can play these songs with chords. :P

  • is this a hard song on guitar?

  • it doesn't really sound like it. But if you just started it might be a little difficult.

  • dawoodman619, you can download a free program called tube tilla, it turns videos into mp3's. Just google it up, it MIGHT take a while to download but my computer is a piece of shit so it might go better for you lol.

  • i like this version waaaay better than the album version. does anybody know how 2 turn this video into an mp3?

  • This honestly just gave me goosebumps.

  • Uggh, I love them to peices. They're my favorite band & my inspiration whenever I paint.

    (:

  • this song is so freaking good to hear them play it now in studio quality... there's not really a word i can think of

  • i cant figure out the basslines pls help me

  • The bass isn't hard... Just listen and play along.

  • omg something about airplanes is such a good album, reminds me when they only had very selective, true fans. mmmm i love them

  • back when they had nathan good !:D he was sweeeet

  • i know! but jason is also an amazing drummer.

    death cab rocks:)

  • This is making me melt. I love their old stuff.

  • The drums sound alot like cath...!

  • well this drumline was written by their old drummer so just a coincidence i suppose

  • so fucking good.

  • this version is so much better than the album version, I love the way they are playing their old songs in their more modern style, it sounds a lot better to me. oh and Ben looks good in this video and the other similar ones.

I hate his new look, its horrible.

O well I still love death cab.

  • Any Death Cab enthusiasts care for explaining the lyrical meaning of this beautiful piece?

  • The first verse seems to be about the girl he's writing about being so caught up in the future that she is incapable of creating/sustaining a relationship in the present. The Plymouth is a car reference. Mary Timony is a musical artist and that's a reference to the music they were listening to. It's seems to be about a cross-country road trip, where Ben Gibbard was with a girl and learned that her past relationships (her bruise) was keeping her from moving on in relationship.

  • *moving on into a new relationship*

    Accidentally posted too soon.

Ben Gibbard is a poet, and is capable of crafting simple life experiences into musical stories for the rest of us to enjoy.

  • I prefer this to the studio version. Listened about 50 times now.

  • This is a studio version, only its a "Live" studio version.

  • wierd name awsome band!!

  • ahhhhhhhhh i want to see them again so bad it's ridiculous

  • this older stuff just hits the spot

  • paistes are really bright

  • ILoveBen<3

  • Amazing song! Really powerful and pretty at the same time. I like this version much better than the album version.

  • GENIAL

    GRAN TEMA

    GRAN BANDA

    AMAZING

  • their drummer is underrated. he is incredible.

  • That's for sure!

  • @HorsePlayProductions how is he underrated?

  • @HorsePlayProductions When has he been rated?

I think what you mean to say is "The drummer doesn't get the recognition in which I think he deserves".

  • @nick16watt Yeah you get what i mean. so do 30 other people haha.

  • @HorsePlayProductions He is so talented. It gets foreshadowed a bit because they are mesh so well together, no one tries to stand out or have the focus on them at all

  • its refreshing to hear something so pure, they need more airplay on mainstream radio.

  • Something about airplanes is their best album

Not my favorite off it, but better then plans and narrow stairs.

even though I LOVE those albums

  • My favorite is The Photo Album.

  • You are definitly forgetting, we have the facts and we're voting yes.

  • I'm not, I just haven't heard much from it. Only 405 and Company Calls. And I love both of those songs.

  • Company Calls Epilogue is the song!

  • There's a Company Calls and then Company Calls Epilouge right afterwards right? If not then silly me! =P

  • Yes, two different songs, both great, both on "We Have The Facts And We're Voting Yes", one right after the other

  • Yeah, that's what I thought. Facts is the only album I don't have by Death Cab.

  • Definitely worth getting. Facts and Airplanes get better every time you play them.

  • ah something about airplanes dude.

  • my favorite is transatlanticism.

  • my favorite is... all of them

  • Death Cabs very existence makes me happier.

  • this is better than the original...simply bc of that second guitar part

  • he slimmed down sooo much!

  • old school death cab soooo good

Seeing them in April, so excited :D

  • Love it!

I so hope I get to see them live on sunday! :D

  • wut type of guitar is chris using tht thing is awesome

  • uuhh g&l hollow body something haha

  • oh found it its a 75 starcaster :)

  • maybe rickenbacker but i'm probably wron

  • its a fender. yeah i know i didnt believe it either. it looks like its custom made tho. it has the body of a gibson ES335 but the neck of a fender. so i dont know what it is... but the neck is fender.

  • Fender Starcaster. No, not the shit you get a Best Buy. Back in the 70's Fender made a guitar called the Starcaster that looked just like that. Damn good guitars, rare as well.

  • flawless. ben gibbard is amazing.

  • i love the way they build chords! (and songs)! such an emotional build. great band

  • what album is this song off of?

  • something about airplanes - 1998

  • Oh my god, this gives me the chills! This is amazing!

  • yeah i agree its a lot better than the recording

  • they are so amazing playing together all at once. i fucking love them.

  • Oh my goodness...

That was so much better than the record. I guess that can be expected after playing that song for ten years.
