Still my favorite cross-country auto race movie. This is one of the few car movies that actually got the sounds correct. They even got the correct sound for the Mad Hugarian's two-stroke Kawasaki.

One of my favorite movies of all times!

I often use the Toast from this great flick: "Gentlemen! Here's to Internal Combustion, and wind in the face!"

It signified a breed of pureblood car enthusiasts, raised in the '50s and '60s, who refused to let go of the pure love of motorsports and freedom, when faced with the bland restrictions of the '70s.

Some of that love still lives in each of us.

This is my favorite Racing Movie of all time. I have this on one of those action/comedy, double movie, DVD's. It came with Cannonball Run II as the second movie. But I kept wondering why they did not put Cannonball Run I instead of #2. Or why they did not add Speed Zone(1989-John Candy) as the second movie.

If you like this film I suggest you read 'Cannonball' by Brock Yates, he was the man who decided on racing from sea to shining sea!! He also wrote The Cannonball Runs, which aren't as close to his book as the Gumball Rally, for some reason!!

This was the first and the best. Followed by all those bad Burt Reynolds "Cannonball Run" copies. Not sequels of the original. BTW, I really love that Camero. A `72 Super Sport, I think.

there is no other movie like this ever! ithank you for posting this. This would be the godfather of car movies in my opinion, i have seen this movie more than 50 times and it still fascinates me.
