I love this mans music and he speaks real . To bring up politics Unfortunately he too got conned by the Obama cult of personality i mean man now we are killing people in Pakistan and Libya. :(
@flipgood89 Yeah i can imagine and its the more of the same i though mccain would be a bigger militarist but would be impossible to top this regime with its expansions and new was
@Depletethestate ....Im certainly not going to act as if I'm not disappointed with Obama's continuation of the war, but I think overall Obama has done a good job and he has my vote for '12....Republican candidates are a nightmare. Our two party system has created a lesser of two evils environment. Republicans are pure evil. Obama just seems susceptible to overcompensation. I mean Bush tax cuts????
@flipgood89 This my point, the cult of personality has blinded people like yourself. Bailing out the same corp. as Bush feeding the same military contractors. Patriot Act, Signing statements, NAFTA, Torcher, Iraq, More Troops in Afghanistan, lobbyists. All things he campaigned against yeah. Few D. and R. aren't bought and paid for its obvious who isn't if you look into it. Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich, Gary Johnson, Rand Paul, not the only but most popular anti war anti corporatist politicians
@gangurobitch Libertarianism is an understanding that the initiation of force is immoral; thus, making it apparent that government is immoral and should not exist to continue its predation. Somalia is an example of what happens when these criminal institutions that control much of society collapse, not due to its controlled people coming to a consensus of accepting its damage and illegitimacy and abolishing statism, but due to its own collapse. I get your satire and respect your trolling.
@Depletethestate And what would happen ten or twenty years after we got together and abolished statism? I don't have a crystal ball, but I figure it will be more like an Icelandic saga (with clannish loyalty and blood feuds to keep some sense of order) than whatever you're imagining.
Iceland began a somewhat voluntaryist region inhabited by people who fled bigger gov. monarchies, but it did have a political government with committees that adopted domestic taxation preceding many years of civil war. The inevitable failure of political government is exemplified here like every other throughout history. I dont imagine a society similar to that of the 10th century! Violence against innocent people is immoral with this principle generally accepted we can have civility.
@Depletethestate Did you skim read my comment or something? I was using the sagas as an example of what we know of life before national governments. If someone killed you, your relatives would kill them. Or they could just pay your relatives a lot of money. Depending on the society in question.
But never mind that. What would your libertarian fantasy society be like anyway?
Richard Patrick is the biggest asshole in real life, and i know people are gonna hate me for saying this but he's a real douche. I like his music though
@sarno72 yeah he puts off this always smiling easy going nice person persona but that makes it seem like its a front for him to not look like the asshole he is.
hey rp...i love your attitude, polictical views, authentic style and amazing talent! sobriety rocks!
crack whores for oil...OMG!...poetically put!
just so you know, i think that you do keep music pure. keep up the protest, buddy! ***hey, i read on the liner notes on 'anthems' that sgt. frank cavanaugh served our country. please tell him that one of his biggest fans thanks him from the bottom of her heart and i hope (more than words can say) that he's home safe and sound.
Great interview, and the Reno show on 9/17/2008 was definitely an "experience" (I filmed the entire concert and it is currently posted to YouTube in 12 segments). Youve been a great inspiration to me, Richard, and I look forward to seeing your future tours!
