3d flying is awesome and sure Alan takes it a new level. Heli is a little harder than model planes but the concept is similar. It doesn't take thousands of dollars to get good. Just find a simulator and some good tutorials. Alan Szabo has a training DVD you can find on the web or for some free instruction you can go here: chadrg com/flightschool/ Even if you spend money on this hobby (to respond to Genetically Inferior's comments) it is much safer than guns or drugs.
I just bought 2 full 250 kits for $11.78 each. Real Aligns. I haven't built them yet. I built a 250 and 700 for my friend and set them up, so I know the bird well. I usually fly X-Cell 90's. Just bought an Align 700 nitro this evening. That'll be fun.

hey alan i need your advice as i am just getting into align products, i have the blade sr and i want to upgrade to a new heli, i am stuck between the trex 450 pro and the 500e, seeing as you obviously have experience with both of these which one do you like better and which is best for stability and flight performance thanks
@SuperBeaverjuice Go for the 500. The 500 has much more stability and hang time than a 450. You will be very happy with it. Parts cost difference isn't that much difference either.
@lordlapswans Theres only 1 main gear. in bigger birds theres a separation between the main and tail gear. I think theres an upgrde in amain hobbys for $10 but i havent tryed it.
@fishravioli im told the upgade makes it so u can auto but havent tried it. doesnt make sense anyway. even if u locked the 1way, the motor is always connected. Personaly the 250 is for the right person...
@polostu82 yeah i posted this on a few of his vds. Alan dont comment and it seems the750 is still the more popular. I dont get it, when setup right, the 780s fine by me. When it comes to the money id buy gy401 to be safe
@poitka80 750 is more popular since its been out longer, but i definatly would not recommend the 401 it was ok years ago but now its over priced and nothing like its newer competitors. even the 750 is a better gyro. spartan quark, futaba 520 i would recommend, but 401 no............

@poitka80 i dont have any videos and i use beastx flybarless and spartan gyro's at the moment. if i ever film a flight i'll let you know. but ive flown a couple of 401's and they dont really do the job in a high powered 3d enviroment.
@o0dekker0o Yes, you need a 3-axis gyro system, for example v-stabi or microbeast (wwwbeastxcom). Makes the heli a lot more stable and because flybarless doesn´t use paddles you save 15-20% energy as well.
Damn. I thought the 450 electrics were quick. I saw a 250 a couple days ago at the local airfield and I raced the guy in forward flight around the pylons with my 450 V2 and got smoked. It might be small but it is QUICK! the only thing I can say was at the end of the day I did not crash and Michael ( the owner of the 250 Rex) did. Yeah that is winning by default but still..... It is a very solid helicopter for its size. I might have to get one.
man, i have to say, al the helo nerds hear might get alittle pissed but i owned a really bitchin one all upgraded and everything and put 2 years into a the real flight sim before i got it, and its just not that easy! some people get it easy after thinking u know how to it, trust me u dont, u spent probly over $200 bucks every crash and the crashes are so unavoidable its crazy, it can be from it tipping or simpy landing alittle to hard, you get 8 seconds of flying and 3 hours of fixing :/
@chance1234asdf well let's see.... much crashing and a lot of fixing. In heli 3d flying, hovering is King. You need to hover to take off and you need to hover to land (otherwise you've crashed). That means when you are running stunt routines you need to be able to hover in and out of each routine, in fact you should learn to hover in the middle of the routine as an emergency precaution.
I fly a Swift 16 and I loooove flying.... I have watched a bunch of Alan Szabo's flying vids, and I still cannot believe he gets paid to do this fun ass job. I want his job!!
