  • less words, more riffs...

  • @insudm

the riffs are in my other Vids, all played through this thing. It's GearGOSSIP after all :)

  • If you use this as a load box for 100 watt amplifiers would it damage the amp at all? I'm asking because most 100watt amps actually put out more watts so the rule of thumb is to get a load box or attenuator that can handle more. Thanks.

  • @RESCUE94

Ok, that Question should be answered by a Sales Representative or Palmer Germany.

They say 100w. No Idea about the „Headroom" for cranked amps

  • @ThomasSchuber thanks, i'll give them a shout

  • How did you get your subway blues like that?! i would love to do that with my Exspress 5:25

  • @Coreyland

Custom made by a Local Carpenter. the Blues just fits the 19", no idea of the size of the Express

  • Hi Thomas, I wanted to ask how I would use this in a stereo setup with the TC Electronic G-Major, the G-Major has 2x Inputs and 2x Outputs. I usually use it in the FX loop of my Blackstar HT5 which produces the clean/drives and from the G-Major I take anothe cable from the output to the power stage of the next HT5 amp. I cannot seem to understand how I can use the Palmer PDI-03 to go straight thru my PA thus just taking out the HT5 head and PDI-03 to go thru the PA. Thanks for your advice.

  • @bdalchow

??? HT 5 (mono) - Palmer(mono, between amp and or instead of speaker) - GMajor (mono in, Stereo out!) - PA.

    Done

  • @ThomasSchuber What confused me was that normally the time based effects are better placed in the FX loop of the amp, Am I right in assuming the PDI-03 would be an overkill in obtaining this setup? Would I be correct to say the PDI-09 is equally capable in obtaining the similar config that you are suggesting? Of course the PDI-09 does not have a built in dummy load so I wont be able to leave out the speaker connection, but the PDI-09 is a quarter of the price. Appreciate your commets, thanks.

  • @bdalchow

Time based is always behind Distortion/Drive, correct.

Before we talk of different things: what do you want to achieve in the End?

  • @ThomasSchuber I do solo, duo and band gigs, I am looking at trying to keep the same/similar sound on all rigs, basically PA for solo/duo with maybe the HT5 behind me. Band gigs I use either a Soundman 50/50 or Marshall EL84 20/20 power amps to 4x12. Roland FC300 & GM2 to manage patches and channel switching. PDI-09 as a mic replacement. Palmer stuff offers opportunities to racking the preamp/effects to work with different output PA & amps. I like to pre-wire to save setup time.

  • Great stuff! Thanks for the information!!

    Cheers!!

  • I bought a Guitar Amp Simulator afew months ago and I have used plugins for guitar amps and still think the real thing is better so I've bought an Orange Dual Terror cause I like the sound and I am using a Marshall JCM900 1936 2X12 but I do recordings so ya think the Palmer would be a good idea? Cause It would be very convenient to have that instead of having an amp using my space up! Plus no mics! How would you compare the PDI against an SM57? Good :)?

  • @Aappleyard2a

No Idea. Too many options for miking an Amp. But take my advice: Get a PDI-09 (cheapo!) and compare this with what you're getting from your mics. If you like: Get the Big one PDI-03.

  • Interesting stuff Thomas.

Good luck with your house move!

  • Thank you for this and the other great videos. It´s great how you explan things and give many practical examples.

  • Hi Thomas, thanks a lot for making the review!!! Now I finally know what the four line outs are for :) Thanks man, keep it up!

  • Great vid! Didn't know you were a Formula 1 driver, though... :P

  • @skapoosh

that shirt is actually a Bicycle-thing

  • So, for your reviews, your signal goes directly into your computer? But you can still monitor it and hear what kind of sound you're making? (I've never really heard of a speaker simulator until now, unless AxeFX counts.)

  • @Falling2Grey29

that's correct, I only hear my final sound through my studio monitors while playing. No guitar-Cab involved.
