  • Oh! He's intense! :)

  • Only try this if you can play the original really well!!

  • This is amazing.

  • FUUUUUUCK

  • i started to do the "YEAHH" face in 2:55

  • The beginning is so much more powerful on the organ, but the fugue was brilliant!

  • @lennic95 Meh.... i'd say the organ packed a whole lotta more punch! :)

  • 5 strings on bass?

  • @TenaciousFuckYou Yeah! Less common, but they exist too :)

  • That was some pretty clever camera work! Hiding the bass and drums!

  • love the ~JAZZY STYLE~

  • It would an even greater video if the picture was in sync with the music and the performers.

  • Gotta love loussier. He is one cool guy.

  • When music is universal, it easily passes the test of time ... The genius of Bach is simply unattainable.

  • whoever doesn't like this sad!!!

  • I can not remember who said "Bach was the first true jazzist in human history" so I guess this kind of tribute only makes great sense.

  • bach forever!

  • I first heard this in around 1973 - still gives me goosebumps - fabulous

  • Love it!

  • Incredible!

  • 5 string UPright? 1st time I'm seeing one of those. T'would solve a lot of problems I'm having with my 4 strings. Never enough rich bottom sound in my view. 5 string would solve it. Can't really downtune a 4 string because it gets too soggy to pluck hard.

  • @MelodyExtremus I am in love with that 5 string!

  • Amazing!

    Love it

  • 5 string acoustic? wow.

  • Wonderful synthesis between Bach and Jazz!! What else?!?

  • Amazing. Only I would have liked to hear the double bass a little more.

  • this is what i call music

  • Un joyau de la musique, Jean-Sébastien Bach vivrait au XXe siècle ne le déjugerait certainement pas. Bravo Monsieur Loussier

  • Jesus! A slice of pure perfection :) I don't think I've ever seen a more perfectly fit trio. These guys were made for each other

  • 8:11, epic chords, love it!

  • ..wow..=O

  • A very talented jazz guy who does superb interpretations ....

  • Круто))

  • great

  • Interesting but I feel they change too much - Bach's philosophy tends to be do a lot with a little

  • Excelent version. Loussier is unique

  • that guy is scary!!!

  • @omeromer1234 yeah he is fucking creepy

  • Amazing...

  • incroyable ...

  • @themates46

  • Bach was amazed for this great interpretation , the best Trio!!!

  • oh, years ago....

  • bad

  • Good jazz...I love this piece! Great tranitions form the original. I think he and Vanessa Mae and his band should do this selection together.

  • @alphamanonthego777 r u kidding, man? comparing vanessa mae and jacques loussier is simply ignorant!

  • I heard Fly Me To The Moon 3:29 - 3:40

  • I heard this song on the radio.. and I fell in love with it! so i've been looking for it on youtube and finally found it! It's such a beautiful piece... Love it!

  • Great performance!

    Thank you!

  • groovin' baby :P

  • here's the proof, if needed, that Bach is jazzy.

  • This drummer is one of the best in the world i swear, check out 5:45-6:00, immense, so simple and subtle and virtuoso

  • he's just like a singer!!! i couldn't belive when i heard him... it's a genius!!! i simply love it!!!

  • I love classical, esp Bach, and this is awesome. The willie nillies that do not like and pretend that it is bad jazz and bad bach, do something to boost your self image please. Thanks mister L and Bach and Jazz, this is awesome, inspiring, cool and beautifull.

  • once i read barroque music and jazz are mostly the same.....

  • Third stream was amazing.

  • BACH = GOD

  • Wounderful version, enjoyed so much

  • Jacques Loussier was truly the first person who took classical music especially Bach into the realm of jazz., a great musician. R.I.P !

  • @carbonhealth He isn't dead lol. In fact i'm gonna see a concert of his today

  • That's just soooo fricken awesome! I'm just lost for words, I was literally gob-smacked when he first switched into jazz....

Now this IS what you call "cool jazz" ladies and gents!

    Sensational

  • one and a half -1:50 really cool

  • You may think that your father is a wierdo, and you're probably right, but consider this, this is the genius I used to listen to when I was 16. Get some woofer speakers, or stereo earphones, and let it into your mind.

  • maravilloso!

  • genial!!!!espectacular!!!! sensacional!!!! sublime!!!!

  • merci beaucoup,Jacques et trio pour partager la musique de Bach avec NOUS et ton style JAZZ...

    ami JUAN MACARIO de Mexique.

  • this is great if you know nothing about classical music. there are some parts that just make me angry. i am all for classical remix, but this just made me think that richard cheese was going to pop out at any moment.

  • @pepperstick67 you're dumb

  • @cfcefa09 haha ok

  • @rageagainststupidity I speak as someone who loves jazz and improvisation, and who also loves Bach - I am not a snob either way. Bud Powell was, unlike Loussier, a great jazz pianist who also knew his Bach inside-out, and he incorporated contrapuntal playing into a true jazz style. Loussier merely takes Bach pieces and tarts them up into the same style of cheap, cigar-ad Euro-swing every single time around. He is a one-trick pony and it is a scandal that he is still taken seriously.

  • @lexo30 :)))))) Sorry mate! I love Bach, I love jazz, I play piano but Loussier succeded to adapt and convert some very powerful and dramatic classic themes into something cheerful, easy to listen, comfortable, funny and relaxing tunes.Sorry, mate, I can't agree your point of view and turning Lussier's music into a scandal is really ridiculous.Learn to relax from time to time.Remember, music is about having some good time, it doesn't have to prove anything.

  • @dncviorel - What can I say? I don't want to say that you're just plain wrong because it's a matter of subjective taste, but I sincerely think that this music is shit. I am normally relaxed, but music this bad makes me tense up. I don't find it 'cheerful, easy to listen, comfortable, funny and relaxing'. I find it a slick and cynical commercial stunt. Loussier is a fifth-rate jazz player who uses Bach to gain fame that he would never have found on his own merits.

  • @lexo30 lol he is one of the best out there...lol wel not many people thing your way

  • @dncviorel - Music proves things whether we like it or not. In this case, it proves that Jacques Loussier is shit.

  • @lexo30 Not his best work, but Loussier is an absolute master. There's nothing shit about him

  • @lexo30 Your comment shows you're une grosse merde.

  • @rageagainststupidity - On the contrary, this is a lesson in why jazz should have as little as possible to do with classical music. There is nothing about the Toccata and Fugue in D Minor that lends itself to a jazz treatment, and all Loussier does is spend nine and a half minutes demonstrating the fact. There is scope for improvisation in this kind of music, but not in the jazz idiom. It just sounds terrible - cheap, stupid and patronising.

  • Horrible!

  • I adore Bach. This is another proof of his genius: his music can be perfectly adapted to another rhythm. It is still superb!

  • Bach AND Loussier are timeless modern. Great.

  • superb! bach is grooving in his grave.

  • @icurays1 Best comment I've read in weeks.

  • 5:40 - 5:50, 6:35 - 6:45 indescribable !

    percussion and all -admirable !

  • Lovely comment overheard.... "If Bach were alive today, he'd be turning in his grave". Made me laugh, anyway

  • Comment removed

  • If Bach were alive today this is probably how he would play his compositions. Have been a fan of Loussier since the mid '60s. Great.

  • How can you dare to treat Bach like this way??? So great! Greatest Guy!!!

  • is this a joke? bach turns in his grave!

  • Bach was childish, why should he?

  • @awesomewelles90 - I agree. This is shit. It's bad Bach and worse, it's bad jazz.

  • amazing!

  • that is awsom

  • C'est trop top !

  • awesome!!!

  • Great!!! Great!

  • Nice adaptation. it's a great classic-jazz song.

  • coole sache

  • Very Nice Thanks 4 sharing 5*

  • The amazing power of musical synergy

  • Absolutely brilliant! Love it!

  • Right... this is probably how the "meister" himself would arrange it if he would be with us at this day and age. Brilliant, my number one.

  • Some how I doubt it by I like this very much too.

  • Brilliant adaptation. True artistry.

  • this is sweet

  • Bravo!

  • i prefer the organ for this song as it sound more scary which is what I think this song should be.

This version sounds more upbeat which is really quite a hard thing to achieve so 5*'s for that i just don't like it on the piano xD

  • @David3040 an organ is good for the original song but this has a touch of jazz so piano sticks better in my opinion

  • pretty cool!!!

  • yay anything can become jazz

  • Amazing, exhilirating version .... takes you to the another nirvana!

  • I couldn't care less what Bach would think; I think this version is fabulous.

  • love this cool jazzy-fugal composition!

  • More than five stars!

  • 5-strings-doublebass? Wow :-)

  • I just love this version of Tocotta so much I can't stop watching it.

  • totally awesome

  • I think that Bach it would be jumping in the audience if he was still alive! He's been the first jazz man ever and he loved to transcribe and make experiments with his own music!

I don't normally like this kind of stuff but this is cool!

  • sinepecunia, you write "I don´t like it" instead of "it ought to be banned". Five stars .
