Superb song. I can see why people wouldn't like the middle bit. But I do, it's experimental, like Bohemian Rhapsody. It's an outstanding record for it's time and Queen even considered releasing it as a single from the album.

@nickalexg yeah, obviously it's progressive, but power metal is also progressive metal, when we are referring this song as a pioneer of power metal It's because we can deduce ALL Blind Guardian (one of the pioneers of symphonic power metal) from this song. Recognized by them. (and also they have a album titled "a night at the opera" in hommage to Queen). I love prog rock and this is a prog rock song, but also this song sets the basis for an important part in the development of power metal

I only want to say with "also" that most of the power metal bands emerged by the influence of the prog rock style (complexity, harmonies, conceptual albums, presence of rhythm guitars and keyboards, etc...) , I don't want to say that "power metal = progressive" (and I prefer prog rock). Sorry for the confusion, I only want to say that "The Prophets Song" is a progressive song, but also pioneer of power metal. My english sometimes it's so bad :D.
