I wouldn't be amazed if ZUN to reused those patterns later in the series. After all, a man's imagination has a limit despite what all the "imagination is limitless" stuff society sells.
What makes this whole thing so epic is that you finally blow a wicked Master Spark at the last minuet... It just makes the whole boss battle much more dramatic! :'D

It would be like the fight with Mokou and Kaguya, where the two fighters completely ignore the player characters, except Tenshi would just beg to take hits while Yuka would bring more than enough firepower for two people. It would be like a lop-sided comedy show of pain.

Well, the patterns were spawned from Alice's grimoire in Mystic Square, so I don't see how they could be based on Grimoires, unless you mean the names of the patterns themselves in Mystical Chain, because then I'm not sure.

Wow, you're good, but some of your solutions to some of the spellcards make me really glad that I use Alice and Patchouli instead. Sure, without Marisa's beam, hitting Ex-Alice is harder, but once you get her, you can use Alice to inflict enough damage to drain more than 1/3rd of her health. (Unless that's another difference between Normal and the difficulty you're playing at)

Also, personally I would go with MariAli combo, all the strength and range of Marisa with the combo godlike combo capabilities of Alice. Sure Patch allows for greater versatility when comboing, but that's something I'm willing to sacrifice in order to actually connect the first hit.

Is doable. Actually, I never play Hard, not here not on the official Touhou games. I always saw Hard as the underachieving brother of Lunatic that vents his anger on the weaker Normal. In other words, a mediocre bully.
The theory is pretty intriguing, it makes me wonder if ZUN plans to release another book or manga elaborating on some of the points in Touhou's characters and plots.
Then again, ZUN might just vanish into the sky one day in a bolt of lightning, and it really wouldn't shock me. Err, no pun intended, but he's just the kind of person I expect the unexpected out of. =3

Double Spark is in Yuka's domain. While Yuka is an awesome character several levels above Marisa, her double spark looses to Marisa. IMO, the Spark tiers goes something like this
Yuka's Master Spark (the original FTW) > Easy-Harvest Master Spark > Marisa's Master Spark > Final Spark > Double Spark > Narrow/compact Spark
Duablue Spark is merely two Narrow Spark fired at once.

You know during the last spell card of the Mystic Records, there is actually an opening to avoid getting hit by those orbs. o.o
For the third & fifth part of the spell, you can practically try to stay up at the top left or right corners. You won't get hit at all.
