  • Thank you Lord for real men who are not afraid to contend for the faith. My family and I have come out of the worldly and apostate church because it has become so un-biblical and evil. It has been so encouraging to hear this. God bless you, Pastor Phil. Keep up the fight!

  • If only he knew about the powers of darkness reigning in heavenly places. I am guessing if he ever took the time to go to the secret place and pray to his Father who dwells there, he would fight the fight and suffer with Christ. The enemy is not without, for heaven is not without. The enemy dwells in the secret place, where we are commanded to go, pray, and suffer. It is there where the Father dwells.

  • "... evangelicals don't really think we are at war against false religion and spiritual lies."

Because if they believed that they'd understand that they are at war with themselves. They would need to wage a war against what they believe, the false religion and spiritual lies of evangelicalism.

  • Where can i find Phil Johnson's sermon "The feminization of the church" ?

  • The reason the churches are hopelessly confused, divided, frivolous, fleshly, man-centered etc. is because of the book they follow. A book that is contradictory and full of error, that can be used to support opposing issues, a book mistakenly called the 'word of God'. You need a new book!

  • This is really amazing a man who agrees with MacArthur the blood of Christ has no efficacy it was His death only, says, blood makes no distinct difference, speaks on apostasy. Also, he declares if you are not fighting with sin daily your not saved. Can you imagine how eloquence makes something sound good and true but is a lie.Apostasy is not on street corners, it is not in church, it is between the belly and the pulpit.

  • @polopowers1 The "efficacy" you're referring to is tantamount to the Romish tendency to attribute holy powers to sacred "relics" (e.g., the bones of Peter, and likenesses of Mother Teresa on a biscuit). It is superstition that MacArthur is combating, not doctrine.

  • @heesendr That is not true saying the Catholics are wrong is obvious to me. But using the false doctrine to defend his own holds no merit.Christ blood is the efficacy though not mystical .John says the death only is necessary not distinction of Christ blood. See video on blood argument.

  • Insidiously he is saying your fighting a war spiritually making Christ victory subjective. We may be in a spiritual battle but the battle is won.No soul will be won because I bring down a stronghold.Christ has brought down the stronghold for salvation. The battle may be for pure doctrine but not for ideals to be made better in the world, that is futile. The problem with church people they have no idea how many are truly fighting they don't see them at church. The Apostates are in church not outside

  • If I don't fight with sin everyday I'm not saved?.Christ did not die for a pure affection?.With devotion there is a fight with sin? Christ put to death, past, present, future, sin in our lives.Focus on a fight with sin and you will be honoring to God?.Christ loves when His people fight with sin ?.Wow! well spoken does mean spoken well. This man has said if you don't fight with sin, your lost. That is not the result of Atonement, war with sin.Act like men be devoted, because focus and on sin you will sin

  • The judge not verse is one of the most misused portions of the word that is used to excuse when one is obviously living contrary to the Christian life or one is plainly living in sin and denying the truth of it. Take from someone whos been there.

  • no i dont smoke or drink beer. i am talkiing about the truth of the Gospel not jusifying my own behavior. these men take a verse and string together all their own personal convictions citing other verses in shotgun style to back it up. then putting it on the same plane as the scripture itself. That is just as bad as the circus church they are talking about.

  • spurgeon chain smoked ciguars, and both he and luthor drank beer regularly.. this sounds great and is true. but biblical christianity is not a modern pharasee. if these men were in the modern church these guys in this video would reject them and call them backsliders. That is something to think about. i agree with what this says.. but they had better take a serious look at what they call bad and what God calls bad.

  • This is why we Christians get the bad rap of a stereotype that includes all Christians imposing their judgmental beliefs on other people. Read the bible, you're not to judge...

  • @lotslepy Actually we are supposed to judge righteously according to God's law.

  • @df8o Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? Mt. 7: 1-4

  • @lotslepy Your off base brother. We are suppose to judge and the word says this. If we have a brother in sin we are suppose to confront it with love. If he does not repent of this sin we are suppose to approach him with another brother. If he doesn'; repent it's taken to the church then he is sent out...That is judgement. I was looking for the scripture but have to run....

I use to think the same thing.

  • all good mentions, walk with the same message myself, and I was very glad to hear the man's emphasis on how God made Adam to work even before the fall, been this weeks steady push for me,always loved to work and also work in The Kingdom and I recognize vain works and am now reconciling constant work with limited secular vain works as possible, like mowing my lawn for example,it should be done for healthy reasons though it's pretty much vain,do things like that as LED and it strips the vanity.

  • Just pure great!!!

He looks a little like Charles Spurgeon!

  • @attitude8x LOL! I have always thought of him as the Spurgeon of our time! :)

  • @polopowers1

We are told to stand firm and watch. We were warned of false teachers and prophets that would come into the Church dressed like sheep. This is not about them getting a name, rather it is about them exposing error in the Church just like Paul did. Paul mentioned names and specific sins. These men care far more about the Bride than any of us do, I can assure you that.

  • @HeresyHunter1711 I assure you feeding the flock of God which Paul did, was not a repetition of rebuke for the elect to be more careful of the snake.False doctrine comes from many so called defenders of the faith. For instance Phillip said and I quote,"if your not fighting with sin everyday your properly not saved. You agree with this statement ? Sin is not the believers problem it is devotion to Christ.Christ is not a minister of sin

  • Great video!!!

  • "If they turn on him, it is as he wills

    Is he pushing them away?

Or are they just not interested, so he's not interested?

If he finds you interesting he will draw you back? Since all hearts are dark, then no one is more righteous than another. So he must find something else interesting about this particular person over that one, a different criteria all together

How will he draw you back?

So if you fall away, he willed it. If you come back, he willed it. Where does Satan come into all this?

  • Calvinist's also believe that "all who call on the name of the Lord will be saved."

Yet Jesus said some would call Him Lord and not be His, so we have to understand exactly what it truly means for one to call on the name of the Lord.

Hatred of sin, constantly thinking of the Lord and wanting Him to use one to express His glory, even in the times of self-failure which He allows to humble us - there is much to be said for "calling on the name of the Lord" - it is not lip service alone.

  • Seriously, the hokie pokie thing, Whats the deal with that?

I looked up the video he was refering to and I'm somewhat confused.. The whole techniqe I find foriegn to the christian fate, Its more like newage disguise in christian context..

  • Phil Johnson never fails to deliver. How much healthier the church would be if every pastor taught this way.

  • @gtrjunky

yeah instead of just making stuff up like others you know.

  • right. THIS guy speaks the truth, not like everyone else

  • @PlanetoftheAtheists

this guy don't know? I know gtrjunky is a hypocritical excuse making homo looking Jezebel.

  • @luvdady ~ Come on now pork chop...don't get your size 54's in a bunch.

  • @gtrjunky yeah that's alright adam lambert your mama loves my 54"

  • @luvdady ~ Adam Lambert's not my "mama". You say he loves your 54's????

    Creepy.

  • @gtrjunky

no your lambert, and your mother likes my 54" maybe and as far as that goes remember forsake your sins...........

  • @luvdady ~ I guess if you struggle with that sin you should forsake it.

  • @gtrjunky scripture an verse please.

  • "The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron" 1st Timothy 4:1-2

It pains me to say this, but a lot of churches have embraced doctrines of

demons and have led and will continue to lead astray many poor souls.

  • This the truth. We must watch and persevere; otherwise, you won't make it to heaven. Here is more "Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers" 1 Timothy 4:16 (NIV)

  • To JesusISreal2mee, let me encourage you to read through 1 Corinthians 16, of which this sermon was based, and then ask yourself if you would have said the same to the apostle Paul.

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

    May our Lord bless you.

  • Where's Jesus? How did this edify??? Jesus edifies...talking about the body doesn't!

  • I think there's room in a pastor's conference to discuss these things.

  • @JesusISreal2mee

I'm sorry you feel that way. Jesus did edify however He always was truthful and strong. The writings of Paul are rife with this type of preaching to the body.

  • Thanks for the upload Lane! Phil Johnson is always great, and he looks like Spurgeon. haha

  • I'm not ready for the meat of the word yet - I need to be fed warm milk from a bottle.

  • LaneCh, I am so glad you were able to post this.

    Thanks.

  • I already listened to the audio. I love his clear and matter of fact style. I personally want to have real valiant men to protect us against the wolves. No more sissys.

  • first time I saw a video with Phil Johnson I usually hear him on Grace To You radio. Thanks LaneCh

  • @StopFear You're welcome. There's also a video interview I did with Phil. You can find the link in the description to this video.

  • How can someone be a backslider if there is no free will?

  • It is the difference between God's prescriptive will and His decretive will.

  • Since when was a backsliders will free? Aren't they entangled with the old yoke of bondage?

    :P

  • I just don't get how a person who is under a supposed un revokable salvation can become a backslider to the point where it even matters.

Even if mired in sin, they are still saved no matter what.. Right?

When all is said and done, and no matter WHAT they have done, in the end they are still saved because they were chosen.

Im still confused as to wether King Solomon was saved or not.

  • tbgx1:

    don't be confused..it's easy.

If a person has been born again.....they are saved...if not...then they are not saved....

    Why is that hard?

  • tbgx1:

First Q: who says that there is no "free will"?

Second: Who said that because there are people who "seem" to be part of the church, that they really are?

There have been pretenders in all ages...the bible has references to them....

  • A while back Lane said it. Isn't that a Calvinist idea? Im still working through all the theological hair splitting I've encountered since trying to find the Gospel truth.

So if you're backsliding, you're backsliding from what? Salvation?

If you're backsliding you are not saved, but if you stop the "backslide" then you are back into salvation?... until you backslide again. Then what? You're sliding out of salvation?

Sounds like a Schrodingers cat scenairo.

  • @tbgx1,

I think you might have misunderstood Lane; I'm SURE he didn't say that there is no free will...what he might have said was that there was no free will in the Arminian sense?

The will is free to choose as it pleases...

We all agree on that right?

Then we understand that the will CAN NOT choose God...nor does it want to....(naturally, that is)

Unless God changes a person's heart from a rebel God hater...that person will not and can not come to him....

  • That sounds like an Arminian thing; in, out, in, out...

Calvinist's believe that IF God saves you....He does so perfectly and you cannot be lost....

  • "Calvinist's believe that IF God saves you....He does so perfectly and you cannot be lost...."

If that's the case why worry about backsliding?

  • I believe in context of the sermon backsliding is meant when the Church becomes worldly.

  • It's Schrödinger's cat - and that's theory, which God does not deal in. Backsliding is different, in certain cases, from apostasy, in that the apostate never was of God (cf. 1 John 2:19; Deuteronomy 13:12, 13, etc.). The fact is, God keeps those who are His - that's His promise, not conjecture. If they turn from Him, it is as He wills - if they are His, He draws them back.

That is Scriptural, and not hair-splinting. The fact is, we have to read the entirety of God's Word in context, not part.
