the automatic has faster times than the stick in the camaro but im torn by which one i would want sometimes i like the power you have shifting the gears but i guess in the automatic your can your the paddle shifters anyway you got you cant go wrong with the V8 camaro
Im the proud owner of a 2011 Camaro SS. Doesnt matter if you get it Automatic cuz is comes with a Semi-Automatic in case you want to shift the gears. But Definitely make sure you get a V8. There is no sense in getting a Camaro if you are getting a V6. Let the girls get the V6. The Standard transmission does give you 20 extra horses or so but you can make those back up with a bolt on or a tune. Oh and above all else, you dont have to get the 2SS but make sure you get the RS package.

@mantotheroop as someone that owned a v6 automatic mustang then switched to a 6 speed LS1 camaro...it matters. my driving experience went from a boring drive to a thrilling experience from when I fire up that roaring V8 to shifting down to third and shutting down a ricer fly by. Manual is amazing.
at least the chevy transmissions have algorithms that hold the gear when in manual mode for the auto...wish the GC had that...hope they can update the TCM to do this

If i got a Camaro I'm actually not even sure what tranny id get, but for almost any other car I'd get a manual, but to me the Camaro is about cruising so the auto does work...

There are a lot of new Camaros riding around Baton Rouge, so GM is definitely selling them. They are selling more RS models than SS. It's styling grows on you after a while. It looks so different from everything else on the road, it becomes pleasing to the eyes. They seem to be selling 4 times more V6 Camaros than V8s.

But then again, Its all about the way you drive, even a V6 can have fairly good mileage with a driver that knows what he is doing.
@brenoribeiro2007 manual will never top automatic in fuel efficiency. in the camaro automatic is always on the 6th gear. low rpm less fuel burned. in mean sure i guess u could do it with stick aswell. but whatever paddle is good enough for me

In many situations that can be observed, the classic example of why is when you are at a traffic light, the car is drive and wants to go, but you got your foot on tthe brakes, so there goes your theory of auto being more efficient than stick. @kodd13 It's all my own money bro... I've been saving up for a decent down payment so the monthly charges won't murder me. They wouldn't help me with crap lolz The only reason that people get the V6 is the gas. Otherwise nobody wouldmind paying an extra 5 grand minimum for a V8. So it's up to the gas really, don't blame ya.

I only like the Ground Effects Kit on the rear of the car. It looks nice around the tail pipes. But the front of the car with the Ground Effects Kit doesn't look so cool.

@mantotheroop as someone that owned a v6 automatic mustang then switched to a 6 speed LS1 camaro...it matters. my driving experience went from a boring drive to a thrilling experience from when I fire up that roaring V8 to shifting down to third and shutting down a ricer fly by. Manual is amazing.

Yeah automatic! My SS is auto ..so what? it s/c with a few more interesting mods....i make 540-to almost 550 rwhp.....So i would beat a 550 rwhp stick 6 speed SS.
logner in each gear, able to modulate the spinning...and consistancy. You think its easy driving a 550 rwhp stick car.in the 1/4. You better be on your game to be even close to a same weight same car in auto...the 3.23 vs 3.42 gearing means nothing the actual tranny gear make the Auto accelerate better...hench why 0-60 gos to auto

@blackcell011 in fairness historically a lotta ppl got their musclecars in auto because they are more robust for drag racing. If i got a Camaro I'm actually not even sure what tranny id get, but for almost any other car I'd get a manual, but to me the Camaro is about cruising so the auto does work...

u people think that u are considered a "man" because u can drive fuking stick. most camaro's are made with automatic. a lot of dealers i have been to have had 2SS with automatic transmissions and people buy them like nothing. if your gonna race, then get manual. if it is your everyday car and u are gonna be in traffic, go with an automatic. automatic or manual, it is still a muscle. i have a 2SS with automatic. i deal with traffic everyday. u pussy's think ur cool with manuals. lolz

@Sevn86 Driving a V8 with an automatic is like going on vacation and spending the whole trip in your hotel watching tv, you just don't get the whole experience. Also, I'm quite sad that the owner shows off with garbage music. It tells me that he likely bought the car (or his dad bought the car for him) to show off, rather than being a true enthusiast.

@coolbeverage most of the cards today run better times with 6 speed autos then with the manuals and get better gas mileage. the new camaro is cool but its not anything special yet. to me, half of the styling is good and the other half blows (like the inside) plus, the car weights friggin 2 tons almost. no ponycar should weigh that amount. yes the music is crap but what do you expect from retards these days?

@dowblab Actually I own three vehicles, but I suppose I could be walking home if all three were broken down, or if the Camaro were garaged for winter and the other two were broken down lol. Either way I doubt I'd be jealous. If anything, I'm jeaous at my friends who have cars capable of doing the quarter mile in 11-12 seconds. As much as I love F-Bodies, that ZR1 is something else.
Also walking home is good for the environment and is exercise, I may walk home tomorrow! Thanks for the idea.

There are a lot of new Camaros riding around Baton Rouge, so GM is definitely selling them. They are selling more RS models than SS. It's styling grows on you after a while. It looks so different from everything else on the road, it becomes pleasing to the eyes. They seem to be selling 4 times more V6 Camaros than V8s.
To anyone interested there are a few Camaros racing in the Rolex and Grand-Am series. Also anyone thinking about buying a Camaro needs to check out GMperformanceparts-dot-com

@MrCHAMMOND What? Unless your drive over reving the engine till the valves dance on top of the hood begging for the next gear, you can get better fuel efficiency with the manual. But then again, Its all about the way you drive, even a V6 can have fairly good mileage with a driver that knows what he is doing.

@MrCHAMMOND I don't understand why you think the car can be always in sixth gear, if it were like that it would take half an hour to get it up to speed. Stick IS more effecient than auto. In many situations that can be observed, the classic example of why is when you are at a traffic light, the car is drive and wants to go, but you got your foot on tthe brakes, so there goes your theory of auto being more efficient than stick. If you or anyone disagree, reply, I enjoy talking about cars. ; )

@owdi2631992 well from driving the two cars, the camaro is a alot smoother on the road, and then when it comes to the mustang gt it's stiff.... in my opinion i would go for the camaro ss, but what you should do is test drive them and see which is better. Now if your talking about racing and drifting, I would use a more advanced car like the Lamborghini Gallardo, i drifted in one of those, and i have to say it was awesome lol
