  • All car horns are in the key of F

  • is this bobby c.?

  • car horn smashes guitar on ground, or rediculously out your strings out of tune, then strum repeatedly

  • Awesome! Thanks for uploading, what a great way to teach... :0)

    Thanks heaps... :0)

  • Dude... I share your passion for the subtlety of music. A- and C+ are all the same notes yet they sound very different (apparently starting point is key [to the ear]), Oh and I must comment - yer musical analysis on / and reproducing a car horn sound… I shall now follow and… learn!

  • Yeah definitely true, if you train your ears to the point that you can tell how some random piece of music you're hearing is played and tell the difference between the pitch of the notes etc, then you'll most likely know how to recreate it yourself without looking at the written music itself. I think this is way better than spending most of your guitar practice time than looking at tabs and memorizing the picture in your head rather than the how that sound you remembered.

  • Major7 tastes like strawberry... mmmmh... :)

  • awsum man...life is a sequence ov major n minor

  • dude weren't u the guy who traded a gun for a guitar in pawn stars

  • @Redmeddle

    No, not at all.

They can fit together, and if used correctly, they all can sund happy together :D

  • @ThaThing1337x

Sweet, cuz I have a song that has major and minors together. Don't really know if its happy or sad though, seems to be sad at first then happy which is what I wanted. Anyways thank you.

  • I never knew this.Does that mean GRUNGE is all minor chords?

  • @you727tube no lol, but there might be a lot of songs made up of minors.

  • I feel like I am watching a balloonshop video.

  • my life is a unresolved tri-tone

  • hahahs u are funny btw i feel that the minor chords seem more sad than dark...

  • I've learned guitar by myself my whole life with tabs and then by ear. I think that is the best way in my opinion. I can now pick out pretty much any music and play it with no trouble at all. I may know nothing about theory and "proper" technique, but I tell you what. I play from feelings now and not from "schooling". Also what this dude is saying, I have known my whole life. Even when I was a kid I could understand these things. I think some people are just born with the gift of music.

  • thx, very useful - I need to learn to play by ear

  • "I'm happy I'm Happy"

  • Major 7ths sound like Candy :D

  • Music must to be done with heart , and feeling. Great lesson. Thanks for the video ; i use to watch to your channel , cuz the lessons are so easy to learn from. Thank you.

  • jdodo678, smoked too many? He is just being happy, if he was acting like an emo and talked slowly people would dislike this lesson and fall asleep.

  • whats frigian?

  • Its a mode or scale. Called Phrygian mode. Mostly used in flamenco music, but can also be found in Pop/Rock. Like White Rabbit from Jefferson Airplane or Sultans of Swing from Dire Straits. Another Mode which is near by the Phrygian is the arabic scale, that can be found in Killing An Arab by the Cure.

  • John, you're still putting up great lessons

and your video producer has the data stream

    dialed and tweaked perfectly.

  • Funny, he said major second and played a tritone. :) Car horns are normally minor thirds.

Does anyone know what brand of electric guitar is hanging behind him?

  • Looks like an Ovation Breadwinner.

  • haha the car horn is the best example ever LOL

  • That was very helpful....I've never looked at it that way! But it makes absolute sense!

  • You guys are great teachers. Wicked good lesson.

  • i wonder what a siren sound is?

  • 5* for the car horn

  • These free lessons are truly great, please keep it up. People like myself who are on disability with three kids, we can't shell out the bucks for paid lessons or dvds. And I love your lessons, they are all great.

  • Cmaj7 car horns FTW!!!!

  • He said major second, not seventh.

  • dude u r awesome...thanks for teaching major and minor(happy/angry)magic.

  • I thought car horns were a F# triad.

...now car alarms they are a minor second...think Godsmack "I'm doing the best i can" or whatever that song is+ a lot of Korn.

  • Dude! Thanks!

  • listen I MEAN LISTEN LOL ............

  • i may sound very stupid but u say develop my ear ..... but how do i do it? lol is the only way to transcribe songs? i can usually tell what kind of chords im listening to but i have difficulty knowing what string powerchords are on as they could often be on either the e or a string

  • gnar dog

  • OMG this rocks stoner teacher :) the best part "what if a car horn sounded like this (chord) ahahah" lmao

  • mate, you have to be the funniest bloke ive seen on youtube...except maybe Trent from Punchy.....but no joke your the best

  • If you are hating on this guy, fuck off!

  • at 4:55 is a tritone, not a major second...

  • This Guy Rocks :D He is a Good Teacher

  • Dude I like your style man excellent stuff

  • lol, i love this guy. now i really want to learn guitar.

  • "im happy!" lmao funny funny shit. great teacher. i knew there was something fishy about music. is that why pop punk is happy music? :P IM HAPPY TOO!!!

  • Dave,

What is the BEST site for tabs?

  • IM HAPPY

  • Grade A instruction

  • very nice clip...btw the interval at 4:55 is a flat 5 (tritone)

  • yeah you're right, he definitely messed up there. this dude seems weak on his intervals. at 4:55 he plays a diminished fifth (augmented fourth) but he mistakenly calls it a major second. lol not even close!

  • This guy is a great teacher cos its obvious he loves his subject..hes not just going through the motions ...he loves those twangy chords man! Im subscribed

  • i love "twangy" lol

  • Great show! What could be more important than hearing the music?. Listen to what's in your imagination - play it, and listen while your play it - then listen in your imagination to what you have just played. Keep up the good work, man. You're the best.

  • 4:59 lol people are like WOOOO....

  • hey,

    i was just wondering

what amps do you play through?

  • Haha nice way to describe majors and minors, your lessons rock!

  • can you maybe give us a close up or give us the tabs to those chords.

i'm sorry, i'm just a little bit, for the lack of a better word, stupid.

  • You can look up the chords on the internet. Listen for the chord he says, then look it up.

  • snap got the same guitar strat aint it

  • Thnks good lesson. I'll be training me ears some more.

  • i thought my ear was already devoloped....was i not bor properly?????

  • prbly not

  • LMAOOOO

  • I loved this one! Thanks!

  • You rock David!!!

  • just as you can here a song and learn the lyrics by listening to you can also train your ear for the chords

  • "i'm happy, i'm happeh!" xD

i think a car horn is more like a nasty double stop with a lot of gain, LOL.

  • any chorde in distortion with a downstroke would do it but its all on you rockman

  • what kind amp u use and what settings for base mid high

    ??

  • i like play grunge wat type of chords would i use

  • simple boring power chords which any idiot can play. Grunge isnt about technical good stuff, just basic lame stuff.

  • Well, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam aren't "basic lame stuff".

  • neither is nirvana

  • oh cumon, nirvana is practically the easiest band to play along to. No complex solos. not major lead riffs, no fast playing, no technuiqeus, just strum a few power chords.

  • it not always about the complexity of the song. Its also about the emotion. Cobain shows a lot of emotion in his playing

  • dont quite follow. If you want emotion check out fgary moore, still got the blues, its complex, yet cool, bluesy, and very emotive.

  • Because strumming a bunch of power chords show ALOT of emotion.

I think what you're thinking of is his singing and lyrics.

  • who the asking you?

  • Music isn't just power chords. Like he said "color" it needs color. What you do is try mixing in the differen't colors to get new colors ya know what I mean?

  • ive never heard pearl jam and soundgarden play advance solos, blues chords, diminished and loads of other things, just simple power chords. i never said that power chords suck, i just mean its basic lame stuff. Sounds cool, but its pretty simple.

  • pearl jam is hard to play. try one of their songs and you won't get it right away.

  • we will see. heh

  • barre chords and power chords, don't listen to what other people say Play what you like and you'll find a way to make it challenging.

  • hey, i do agree, im not saying power chords suck, i use them aswell. but i just mean thats all there is to grunge. Nothing else really.

  • It doesn't make sense that other people can teach songs and these guys can't. Nonetheless I still get a lot from their lessons.

  • Because he advertises his website which he uses to make money, therefore he is indirectly profiting off of copyrighted work.

  • Makes sense now, thanks.

  • yeah but you have songlessons from other people and they don't get suspended lik Justin Sandercoe

  • Because he does not use it to advertise a site where you need to pay! All his stuff on his site is free unlike this berks!

  • They dont help so much as before when they made how to play videos

  • kissIsbest I completely agree with you. I commented on one of thier video's asking why they don't do song lessons anymore and they answered me saying that they can't because the major label record companies threatened to sue them if they continued to teach songs! Thats one of the reasons they are now called rockongoodpeople instead of NextLevelGuitar, because YouTube suspeneded thier account over it.

  • Since they dont do song lessons anymore, i went to the local library(tip!) and found tons of awesome tabs. now im learning the theory through 'rockongoodpeople' and the songs from sheets. I think its good that I was forced to make this switch, it might take a little longer to learn songs but you learn a lot of good things.
