@usmc1forcerecon lmfao the people who are laughing is his head coach in canada! I think the other one is greg jackson. The one in the brown hoodie is his head coach at tristar.
Todiand "MMA" are very similiar actually. The only key difference being that todi was designed to kill/maim/ as efficiently as possible. it was meant to protect your life and your family from someone intending on killing u. It included striking, grappling, throwing, choking (and any other combat skill that would be illegal in ring). It was a mix of chuan fa and Di. In many ways it was the ORIGINAL MMA. All modern MA's r MMA's already, look deeper and find the truth, nearly all started in China
I love the fact that keeps true to his "roots" and still bothers practicing his forms...hes an excellent fighter in the ring, but my goodness someone needs to teach him some REAL toudi(karates roots). The forms, techniques and the application of the techniques were never meant to look or be applied anything like this ( I like the groin stomp though). What he does in the ring is far more similiar to toudi(karate)(although it is still a far cry from real toudi) than what he has displayed here
@xGoC I wouldnt think GSP would put this vid on his own official YT channel if he felt the same way you do about the laughter. you can clearly see GSP laughing from 1:12 to the end of the vid. there was an obvious playful context to the entire routine. wow, the internet really has a way of interjecting negativity into the most neutral or positive scenario.
@GolandoPro How the hell does nationality have anything to do with it? The sad thing is that I would laugh at Americans who said bad things about Canadians (I am American). Now I commend you for showing me that ignorance and rudeness has no boundaries, congratz.
@cocotiger77 lol well i thought ir was pritty clever... aha bro i have nothing against any culture, race, religion, w.e. its just funny cuz its GSP and he Kicks ass!!
Although this is a Kyokushin kata, it is very similar to the Wado Kai kata. It's interesting to observe a different way of doing it and awesome to see a black belt perform it. Go GSP!
Who the fuck are those tools laughing at the world champion. They obviously don't understand WHY he's champion, or what makes a long reigning champion like himself or Anderson Silva.
Has anyone seen GSP's documentary "The Striking Truth"? It shows him as a child doing a Karate workout -- basically exactly the same movements he is doing here. It's amazing.
Firas Zahabi stated in the doc: "When Georges first started, he was very stiff. Very stiff and linear. Good, but linear."
F^%$ing hate those idiots laughing, man, I just wanna pound them on the ground over and over again, morons, I mean, MMA's roots are from traditional martial arts, which are all amazing, Stupid ignorants
@tunsiCA94 Not to disrespect your sensei, but to be honest everyone has a different way of teaching. Maybe Georges St Pierre's sensei is better than yours because his lessons made him UFC welterweight world champion.
@zamorachristian1 GSP's sensei was his father so i think he wasn't very strict with him and also i think that his sensei isn't better than mine because kyokushin karate isn't MMA and he had special trainers since he began his MMA carrer. I don't think GSP would stand a chance if he participated in the kyokushin world open tournament.
@tunsiCA94 actually i think that having a father as your sensei would make him have even better learning experiences plus technique. i think GSP would do good if he a little bit of time to train for a kyokushin karate open world tournament. I train in his class at tristar gym and i do have to say that he is really physically strong and at a more advanced level then the weight division he is in.
To ignore form completely for MMA fighters is ignorant. Those who do not understand something either mock or afraid it will actually help. It's interesting to see him warm up with this, even though he is messing around. Forms help explosive muscle development, natural flow of technique, combos, speed, angles, and power. It should have you think defensively and technically (not just doing a set of moves). Same as modern MMA fighting training, but has more meaning than just "working out."
You got ur ass handed to u by Matt Serra .. and got knocked out in the first fight .
I know fora fact that you SUCK and can't fight for shit .. You have a glass chin and I am sure I could knock u the fk out considering we are the same weight class .
You should just retire .. your a fraud and all your fights SUCK .. not impressed by any of them .
u talk alot of shit in pre-fight interviews but never back it up ..
@Pwnvidz you're probably some dumbass who sits at home on the computer with nothing else to do but threaten real fighters over youtube. if you really want a shot at gsp, you should probably stfu and get your ass to the gym and work your way up like he did. He's the welterweigth CHAMPION for a reason. I'm not saying he's the best, cause i believe Silva or Aldo are better pound for pounders, but he deserves some respect; and frankly, he beat Serra in the rematch and hasn't lost since.
Just because I don't like gsp and I am not impressed by his performance in any of his fights .. That makes a dumbass who sits at home with no life ? get the fk outta here u GSP ball sucking faggot .
I guarantee you I would knock GSP the fk out in less then 2 rounds .
HE SUCKS .. look at his fights .. boring and defensive as FUCK ! but hey .. that's just my opinion .. you can think what you want .. but I know the truth and I see the truth .. so whatever
Yeah the people laughing are idiots.. GSP would seriously hurt those guys! GSP's fights might not always have spectacular finishes, but he wins right? More than what you downers can say. I'm sure all you can do is sit on a couch, drink beer, and critisize..
George is gay. I hooked up with him in a hotel room. We had discreet NSA sex and after the encounter was over, I never saw him again. He told me that he can't come out because of the UFC contract.
Derp! Really?! Kata is an exercise to help understand traditional Karate stances, transitions, and strikes, that is it. It doesn't replace real sparring.
Kihon/basics are the words, kata is the conversation, and sparring is the conversation.
Besides, we Kyokushinka are not known for our outstanding display in kata. Save that for the point sparring tournament people and old school guys.

You guys are just dumb as fuck to notice things outside the box
@theReefemeister that's why GSP says he really appreciates his karate roots. for all the silly people who say kung fu/karate/whatever traditional martial art "is a joke": it is not. times change, we fight differently, but to say it's a joke makes you a joke. traditional martial arts are still very good for training reflexes, power, flexibility, conditioning, balance etc.
@waldomarek Hey, just a question, how do they train you in traditional martial arts for power, conditioning etc... like what type of exercises do they make you do? Are they exercises that the general public doesn't know off or can't do at the gym?
@tazss159 well, i can only speak of kung fu, since i train that. i do that mainly for power/conditioning/flexibility/balance. we just do all kinds of "weird" exercises that requires your own (or someone else's) body weight. some schools have regularly sparring, some don't, i prefer the regular sparring. it basically comes down to exercises you won't normally do at a gym, or else other people would think you're retarded, but they're really good for your body overall.
@waldomarek Modern Karate is NOT Traditional Karate... It has transformed over the last 100 years into something quite unlike that which the pioneers of the original toudi jutsu sought. Following the second World War during the demilitarization of Japan, Karate became a BUDO which was further taken by JKA and made a sport to follow right a long side Judo and Kendo. The Gi, Belts, Kiai, Japanese names, kumite, and the general evolution of Karate as a sport is all as new as the word "Karatedo".
I'm a martial artist and I'm also used to some spectators, especially guys giggling during demonstrations too. That is, until the demonstration ends and the girls come up to me. The guys don't giggle too much after that. >=D
Refree Herb Dean called a stop to this contest due to Pimp Slap declaring the winner AND STIIIIIIIIIIIL THE U F C WELTER WEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD GGGGGGGGGGGGGGOEEEEEEEEEEEERGES RUSH $T-PIMP!!!!!!!!!
who cares if he hasnt done kata for a while - the point is HE DOES THEM! paying respect to your roots no matter what they are, is thumbs up from me! and the camera dude just proved to the whole world that he is a stupid ignorant douch!
Also, having many tools to fall back on is what makes GSP so dangerous. He takes something from so many different styles that it makes him ready for almost everything and allows him to pull out something different if he needs to.
Traditional styles are still very much alive and effective. I agree that they have evolved in many ways, but many havn't as well. Wrestling goes back to ancient greece and fighting alone goes back to the beginning of history. Every style has it's benefits. It's the person that makes it truly effective or not.
Declaring the winner by MANSEX ANNNNNNNDDDDDD STILLLLLLL THE UNDISPUTED UFC WELTER CHAMPION OF THE WOOOOOORLLD........GEORGES RUSH ST PIERREEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All martial arts are useful, non are useless. What MMA and actual combat have proven is that no martial art by itself is good enough. You must use somethings from many arts to be the best fighter. Also, MMA's a sport within it's rules certain styles benefit. Grappling is less effective in a real fight, because more striking is allowed. Also, eye gouging and other techniques that could not be used in the ring.
The thing is. Unfortually the old school martial arts just wont work in the ring. It really is all about boxing, muay thai, wrestling and jiujitsu... it has been proven to work and traditional martial arts is sadly dying because of it. I mean now a days ppl seem to be getting black belts with ease in tradional martial arts but never seem to use it in the rest of their lives cause most of them are simple just not as effective as they should be. Espeally in the ring/oct
@DARQMX That is most definitely not true. What is true that individual martial arts are not effective by themselves in the ring. There are very few modern fighters that use mainly one art. Most don't even use one art standing and one art on the ground. Most fighters use a hybrid of arts to compete. GSP is a great example of this. The reason they train many different styles is to have the benefits of all of them. GSP is also much more Karate than Muay Thai. His standup is well rounded, not one.
I love traditional martial arts, its a shame those kind of skills are not used by many fighters in MMA today. It seems as if guys only want to wrestle and box in the cage these days. I want more Anderson Silva front kicks to the face, more Anthony Petis ninja matrix kicks, gimme a guy like Pat Barry anyday over a pure wrestler who only wants to ground n' pound. Bruce Lee, Van Damme, Jet Li, Norris, Jackie Chan, Tony Jaa don't make martial arts movies about hammer fisting a guy in the full mount
I think GSP was goofing around that's why the guys on the sidelones are laughing. If you look at some of the movements like the side snapkick with backfist each movement lands separately which is wrong. Not saying GSP aint got skills, I'm just saying he was probably just goofing around with this runthru. Also I think all this karate talk is just to throw off Jake shields, GSP will likely focus on boxing, kicks would just invite takedown attempts.
Who is the fattsos laughing? Dumbass motherfuckers don't know shit beside hamburgers, it's the art of matrial arts to express your feelings in a fight you fat laughing retards.
side kick was terrible sorry.

@theReefemeister that's why GSP says he really appreciates his karate roots. for all the silly people who say kung fu/karate/whatever traditional martial art "is a joke": it is not. times change, we fight differently, but to say it's a joke makes you a joke. traditional martial arts are still very good for training reflexes, power, flexibility, conditioning, balance etc.
waldomarek 10 months ago 33
@waldomarek And traditional martial arts will fuck a guy up in the streets, when the guy is a good martial artist.

@waldomarek Hey, just a question, how do they train you in traditional martial arts for power, conditioning etc... like what type of exercises do they make you do? Are they exercises that the general public doesn't know off or can't do at the gym?
tazss159 9 months ago
@tazss159 well, i can only speak of kung fu, since i train that. i do that mainly for power/conditioning/flexibility/balance. we just do all kinds of "weird" exercises that requires your own (or someone else's) body weight. some schools have regularly sparring, some don't, i prefer the regular sparring. it basically comes down to exercises you won't normally do at a gym, or else other people would think you're retarded, but they're really good for your body overall.
waldomarek 9 months ago
@waldomarek Hey thanks for replying...
Could you perhaps P.M me a couple of those exercises that you do, like all the exercises that are not available or you can't do at the Gym? Thanks.

@waldomarek dancing is also good for training reflexes, power, flexibility, conditioning and balance

Also, having many tools to fall back on is what makes GSP so dangerous. He takes something from so many different styles that it makes him ready for almost everything and allows him to pull out something different if he needs to.
tyt92 10 months ago
Traditional styles are still very much alive and effective. I agree that they have evolved in many ways, but many havn't as well. Wrestling goes back to ancient greece and fighting alone goes back to the beginning of history. Every style has it's benefits. It's the person that makes it truly effective or not.

JdawgMMAblog 10 months ago
All martial arts are useful, non are useless. What MMA and actual combat have proven is that no martial art by itself is good enough. You must use somethings from many arts to be the best fighter. Also, MMA's a sport within it's rules certain styles benefit. Grappling is less effective in a real fight, because more striking is allowed. Also, eye gouging and other techniques that could not be used in the ring.
gringofreestyler 10 months ago
The thing is. Unfortually the old school martial arts just wont work in the ring. It really is all about boxing, muay thai, wrestling and jiujitsu... it has been proven to work and traditional martial arts is sadly dying because of it. I mean now a days ppl seem to be getting black belts with ease in tradional martial arts but never seem to use it in the rest of their lives cause most of them are simple just not as effective as they should be. Espeally in the ring/oct
DARQMX 10 months ago
@DARQMX That is most definitely not true. What is true that individual martial arts are not effective by themselves in the ring. There are very few modern fighters that use mainly one art. Most don't even use one art standing and one art on the ground. Most fighters use a hybrid of arts to compete. GSP is a great example of this. The reason they train many different styles is to have the benefits of all of them. GSP is also much more Karate than Muay Thai. His standup is well rounded, not one.
gringofreestyler 10 months ago
I love traditional martial arts, its a shame those kind of skills are not used by many fighters in MMA today. It seems as if guys only want to wrestle and box in the cage these days. I want more Anderson Silva front kicks to the face, more Anthony Petis ninja matrix kicks, gimme a guy like Pat Barry anyday over a pure wrestler who only wants to ground n' pound. Bruce Lee, Van Damme, Jet Li, Norris, Jackie Chan, Tony Jaa don't make martial arts movies about hammer fisting a guy in the full mount

audreythesloth 10 months ago
@audreythesloth Thank you, I was training Karate a long time ago, so I don't remember properly :D Now training and fighting MMA.
janjiss 10 months ago
I think GSP was goofing around that's why the guys on the sidelones are laughing. If you look at some of the movements like the side snapkick with backfist each movement lands separately which is wrong. Not saying GSP aint got skills, I'm just saying he was probably just goofing around with this runthru. Also I think all this karate talk is just to throw off Jake shields, GSP will likely focus on boxing, kicks would just invite takedown attempts.
