  • big ben is so cool

  • Does it chime 24/7?

  • @bette1908 Yup

  • @landof101dreams I guess people living in Westminster get used to it then

  • @bette1908 yes we do

  • @bette1908 No, only at 12 noon and 12 midnight

  • @bette1908 It chimes everyday at every hour night and day and every 15 minites after the hour, but only a little. the mains ones every hour (like this).

  • Big ben is one of the great landmarks of London. I was born and raised in London and have lived most of my life in the city. At one time I had a flat that was within hearing distant of Big Ben. I remember at night time when I used to go to bed I could hear the chimes in the distance. If you ever come to London - enjoy yourself and have a peaceful time. Bearhug. Tx

  • BIG BEN IS ACTULLY THE NAME OF THE BELL & NOT THE CLOCK

  • @MrJoshbumstead we know

  • @MrJoshbumstead Incorrect. Big Ben is the bell, but it also refers to the clocktower itself.

  • @Jackjoe17 I know that too.

  • BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

  • i wish they hadn't lit the top with green lighting - always looks horrible

  • "Now Big Ben is sometimes used, strictly-speaking incorrectly, to refer to the clock, the tower and the bell collectively, although the nickname is not universally accepted as referring to the clock and tower." It's pretty much a synecdoche.

  • fools! you want "Paris" go there! You are in ENGLAND!

  • 0:25 sounded like the begining of hells bells

  • mmmmmm Benny!

  • nice video dear but couldnt you edit those awful sluts voices out? it spoils it

  • and all the evil spirits were destroyed! yaaaay :)

  • well done - nicely filmed!!

  • My community has a clock at the

courthouse with a chime. But it

doesn't even compare to Big Ben"s

    gigantic chime.

    methodistgirl.

  • i was stood exactly where you was last night

  • Our school has a clock tower (well, a replaced clock tower...), and it goes every hour, but it's nothing like this. It used to have a real bell, but now it's just a recording.

  • Same here...well..i live two streets away from a catholic school church and sometimes if you listen closely you can hear bells (sounds more like the Westerkerk though)

  • If it sounds like Westerkerk, it must have a nice melody to it.

  • Does that go on all throught the night?

  • every hour on the hour. one chime for each hour of the day.

  • it must disturb people who live nearby then

  • Well, as far as I remember, there's little or no houses in the area, regular commuters are used to it and tourists love it, so it doesn''t really disturb many people :-)

  • haha i agree

  • duh its suppose to

  • yes every hour

  • if only we had a clock tower as great as that here

  • I want to go soooo bad!!

  • I wonder why the lights would be turned off; they're supposed to stay on until sunrise.

(Also, as other people have observed, the tower's just called "Clock Tower". There actually is a St Stephen's Tower, on the other side of Westminster Hall; it's where the visitors' entrance to the Palace is.)

  • The clock tower's official name is St Stephen's Tower. Big Ben is the Great Bell.

The other large square tower at the other end of the palace is called Victoria Tower..

  • i cant wait to go to london one day

  • You find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford.

  • Now I can't rest until I've remembered who said that...

    Dr. Johnson?

  • yes indeedy, Samuel Johnson =)

  • very well said =]

  • Love Big Ben!

  • It's not "a" clock tower... the Big Ben is "THE" Clock Tower!

  • Big Ben is the bell.

  • Yes, I know that.

In any case, I was just saying that the clock tower here is amazing.

  • Yeah sorry I wasn't getting at you or anything.

    It is indeed amazing.

  • What?

  • This is the coolest Big Ben video I see here. The moon looks awesome in the back...

  • wow amazing :)

  • London is the best city in the world.

  • wow :)

  • And you got the Moon is as well! This is nice, made me smile.

  • Im going to France in December maybe I can go to England by the English under-water channel!

  • It's amazing how this clock maintains the exact time

  • the tower is called St. Stephen's Tower and the bell is nicknamed big ben

  • When suddenly, Peter Pan flys by.

  • @PicandPiku Dont forget NiGHTS :)

  • @PicandPiku= And then. \Owen Wilson and Jackie Chan fall of and land safely in the Queen's coach. She's not amused. And Clark Griswold drives by for the millionth time, laughing like a madman, sayng. "Look kids, there's Big Ben, Parliament." I love that bell.

  • Ding dong, ring rong, Reminds me of home :( i miss home

  • wow such a lovely erection such grandure and so skillfully balanced and i like the clock thngy video aswell lol

  • HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  • Two days ago I was in London, it was incredible!!!!!

  • I think the tower's just called the Clock Tower, not St. Stephens. Nevertheless it still sounds as magnificently imperial as it must have when there was an Empire.

    (And that's from an American.)

  • so beautiful.

  • it's not called st stephens tower!

  • Yes it is, Big Ben is it's nick name. Check your facts!

  • No...the bell is Big Ben. The tower is just the Clock Tower. Check YOUR facts!

  • and of course

the clock always rings out at midnight

    ( especially 31st december)

  • Im from england....never set foot in london :O

  • in germany we have a gigantic gothic-style cathedral called cologne cathedral. you should check it out ;)

  • i think i like london.

  • And I'm sure London thinks it likes you too... :)

  • *weeps pathetic tears of pride*

Is there a more beautiful sound in the world?

  • one thats better than any in your country?

  • not really

    theres no houses nearby anyway

and only some stupid yank would hate that

  • I love it.

    Many englishmen hate it.

Just ask around you bloody brit.

  • I love Big Ben. I remember coming out of Westminister (I think) tube station and seeing it right there like BAM!

  • yep im proud to be english to! :)

  • Big Ben is amazing. It's beautiful, has a lovely but mysterious sound to it, and is huge.

  • beautiful, makes u proud to be ENGLISH, we rule

  • @Marktg06 yeah we do

  • You know Big Ben is cracked, weighs 10 tons, and doesn't sound as it should.

  • I live 130 miles North of London in Birmingham. And I love making trips down to London as it's such a brilliant place, especially Big Ben, it's so beautiful. I'd love to be there on the turn of New Year. I bet thats good.

  • Eh? London to Birmingham is 112 miles. Also, this comment is very old so I probably shouldn't really respond.
