The great Mr. Fairbanks proved he was a feeble-minded old fool by not knowing who the guest was with all those clues handed to him. And little did Charlton know he'd lose his mind and be a racist NRA advocate writing hate-filled stuff like "The White Man's Manifesto".
How could they miss that voice....he didn't do much of a job disguising his voice. And when he answered he was in the 10 commandments you would have would have thought that Dougl Fairbanks would have nailed it right away.
@IluvKenji They did, of course, he's the only Mystery Guest who made no attempt to disguise his voice. Whether he'd never seen the show and no one thought to explain that part to him or what, we can only speculate. Often they'd guess the guest but play along for a while so the audience could watch the show rather than ending it immediately.

Charlton Heston - A great actor and an even greater American. Contrast that against smug, elitist, self-centered, egotistical jerks, like Tom Cruise, George Clooney, Sean Penn, and Tim Robbins.
His Voice was TOTALLY obvious from the beginning. Either he wasn't that famous at that point (DOUBFULT) or they had to drag it out, MORE likely than not.
@ParkerAllen2@ParkerAllen2 It slipped away because Fairbanks thought of another actor who also stars in "The Ten Commandments" and who also has quite a deep voice, namely Yul Brynner. This is why Fairbanks asked if he had starred in a hugely successful stage show which was turned into a film this year; he was referring to "The King and I", turned into a film released the same year as "The Ten Commandments". :)
@filmidioten I bet you're right. Thanks for the info. Sometimes it seems to me that the mystery guest's voice is so obvious that it's hard to believe they don't pick up on it right away. To me Heston's voice sounds barely disguised, but I'm sure it was a lot less obvious with a mask on.
@ParkerAllen2 But don't get me wrong, I still think Heston could have done more to disguise his voice, it IS one of the most recognizable in movies :)
@92af that's your opinion and you're entitled to your opinion....but not everyone will agree with you that charlton heston was a better actor than gregory peck.

Charlton Heston is a great actor and can certainly be considered one of the most important people in the US - through a timeline perspective. But I really dislike his recent actions, related to guns, animals and children. A real shame.
"recent actions" He suffered from Alzeimers for close to a decade was at home in bed being cared for by his family. and died over 13 months ago. what recent actions are you refering?
Considering his time of life, I'd mean by "recent actions" the last 20 years. His iron-side about guns and general opposition to any policies raised by any government to control the access of people to it.
So u were actually saying u disliked his politics prior to subcoming to the tragic ending of his life by alzeimers. 20 years ago. since he died over a year ago and has had no political views in over a decade due to having nor real "memory left" let him rest in peace and don't worry he can't hurt u with his politics guns etc. If he didnt subcome to the awful disease I think he would have made a damn good president of the Unitied states of America!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Sweettrt, is that me or you do dislike what I said? I mean, you're on your right, but you don't need to get offended for Mr. Heston. I do respect him and admire him as actor and for some actions as individual. What I do dislike is his armamentist vision, which just leads to problems - as we've usually seen, not only in America.
Well you do realize that not everyone has to agree with your personal view and in my opinion, if your referring to what I think your own politics are - they have caused more trouble for our society than the ones Mr. Heston believed in.
Absolutely. Thank God you and I were born in a world which is free and our minds can work by their own, without a state that controls it. Therefore, You're free to disagree of me, at my thoughts about Mister Heston. Thanks for the education.
What a gentleman he was - you just don't see people like him in hollywood anymore; they're all out getting drunk and stoned. Mr. Heston was married to the same lady for over 50 years!
Those who were critical (which he may have sometimes deserved) and mean when they spoke about him (which he did not deserve) should see this clip, and some other clips of him. This would hopefullly give a more fuller portrait of this man.
The nasty comment must have been removed but I bet it had to do with the NRA and Heston's impeccable conservative views or his Alzheimer's. He was a great man, actor and thinker. R.I.P.
The great Mr. Fairbanks proved he was a feeble-minded old fool by not knowing who the guest was with all those clues handed to him. And little did Charlton know he'd lose his mind and be a racist NRA advocate writing hate-filled stuff like "The White Man's Manifesto".

THAT VOICE!!! OMG!
