It amazes me how quickly religious leaders a point fingers at others. "Us" vs. "Them" is human nature, however it should be the job of religion to rise above that. For the most part IMO they fall short.

How exactly do you expect that to happen, when religion is, in part, an extension of our group mentality that works vigorously to ENFORCE that group mentality, and works especially hard to enforce the idea of excluded groups -- in Christianity's example, excluding non-Christians, excluding homosexuals, etc.

One can argue that the roots of christianity and many other religions were very inclusionary it wasn't until they became dogmatic that they where exclusionary.

Ironic being that christianity was formed out of fighting the political and religious restrictions at the time.

But once something is considered absolute, it's purpose and meaning decays, over time becoming increasingly irrelevant.

Obama did not pursue Farrakhan's endorsement, and has denounced him. McCain pursued Hagee and then stood on a stage with him to trumpet the endorsement. Republicans still get a pass.
