  • @razwrasman In a way. Darnielle frequently writes fictional songs, and this Album is almost entirely fictional characters with the exception of Matthew 25:21, which I believe is autobiographical. Anyways, my interpretation is that this song is about a guy going through shitty times and is trusting in god to fix it eventually, but he's losing his faith as he keeps repeating the Biblical mantra in the chorus and reassures himself that 'a kind and loving god won't let him run aground'.

  • The second line ends with "ship to list", don't know if you can change your description. FYI, list is a nautical term meaning tilt. It's used when a ship is taking on water or cargo improperly shifted. I'm sure those lyrics will make a little more sense, when considering the meaning.

  • @razwrasman what this song is about is a man who is at the end of his rope. He feels hopelessly broken beyond repair and like life isn't worth living and he wants to leave it all behind but the one thing that brings him hope is the promise in Romans 10:9 that "someday i'll be saved". if you listen to the lyrics toward the end "Busy hours for joyful hearts and later maybe head out to the pharmacy. Won't take the medication but it's good to have around" the songs meaning is pretty clear.

  • @razwrasman no he wrote songs that resemble the stories of each bible verse while keeping a modern story to them. atleast thats what ive gotten out of most of the songs.

  • @pestilentfrost Christian Death

  • Yay! I love 'Romans 10-9'!

Feel like quoting the whole song here, but I better don't...

  • Me encanta la genealidad y originalidad de esta banda, sus nombres son pasajes de la biblia que van a la par de sus letras.

    Me gustan

para un domingo con café, poesía, mujer amada y una almohada...

    5 estrellistas pa la banda
