If your only a carrier of the gene then you get protection from the symptoms of malaria. We are now beginning to see the benefit of the Human Genome Project. Reverse engineering as you know takes a lot of time and effort. The Human Genome Project produced a machine code version of our genome. We can see the data packets. Now is the hard part. Working out what those data packets do. So yes it has been 10 years but considering the problem that's understandable.

Now, with all the modern treatments and successes, we have a death rate over .7 %. This is because of genetic degradation. If your only a carrier of the gene then you get protection from the symptoms of malaria. First it made a duplicate gene section, so it could suvive and continue to eat existing food. Turtles with different necks or finches with different beaks is not proof of evolution, but Genetic variation within a kind! Biological evolution requires NEW genetic information, but where do you get it? Mutations are mistakes in ALREADY present genes and are not profitable at all. Natural selection has a conserving effect and limits the variability of a species by eliminating the weak old mutated and sick in a population! Darwin gave up on this idea but no-one would listen to him! Same today!!
