I think it could be a bit more ergonomic. For 900 bucks I'd expect it to feel nice and snug in my hands. It looks kind of awkward. Maybe a longer handle and a piston pump to build pressure faster. Just thinking is all.
@RavenBlaze I bring facts and also present products that my fans want to learn more about. I forgot I was FORCING you to watch my videos....you have mentioned this 3 times now...kindly move on. We share a common interest in Psychology RavenBlaze. I respect what you have studied and your interest in this subject matter. If you do not respect what I DO, than I wish you well and un-subcribe.
I think one could be made at home for around $150...maybe better depending on how fancy you wanted to get. Some PVC, a spaghetti tube, an RO membrane, and a pump.
@JohnFGoforth Creative idea. I would love to see what you come up with! Send me a video response of your self made product and how it holds up to the salt water test.
@ud45 Its a completely different process as the salt is absorbed in the water, rather than the easier process of removing large parasites. Do you need more details than this? If so, I can always do a follow up video in more detail.
I like the survival on the water concept and appreciate the time you put in doing this BUT $900 and I gotta pump it and only get 6gl of water. sh........
@DemonHide Excellent question, I am going to look into this further for you ...i want to ensure we have the correct information circulating on peak survival!
a solar still can be made with just spare parts of a boat and you can have drinkable distill water with out pumping that thing if it had to be pump a larger cycle of water flow would be better
@agun17 Yes I will be covering the solar still next! The solar still method works and is much cheaper than 900$ device BUT you need plastic, sun and lots of time for it to all work , whereas the pump is ready to go right away.
You can get a SPOT satellite beacon for $75 and service would cost you $0.28 a day. If you are on a boat you better have that beacon on your body like you were among vampires and it were a cross. They're water proof and they float. Coast guard have already rescued people using just that beacon no search just rescue. WOW that is a lot of money$900. Some beacons allow text for a higher rate but base model is $75hardware/$100 a year service. You can allow tracking has OK button and a 911 button.
@cdltpx Could this equipment fail you sure we could have a solar storm knock out all satellites the nation could stop rescue for political or financial reasons. You could wear down the battery and forget to change it. Or you could just change the batteries every even numbered month and be completely safe from that. I would much rather have that beacon on my person than that pump everywhere I went? Fall off a cruise ship pager sized beacon will save you that pump would be in your cabin.
@cdltpx interesting information... just curious if this would have worked for the 4 Americans that were killed by Somalia pirates? Not that it would have saved them, because maybe it takes a while for CG to dispatch, and from where?
@ez2curanut The fix for Somoli pirates is invasion then some sort of vessel tracking system so their mother ships are located and dealt with. The amount of trouble that little area is causing is unreal that country is going to be invaded and when it occurs the body count will be incredible. What ever army that goes in will do their homework and have a failsafe battle plan. Only way to defeat pirates is out run them or to have ability to return fire.
Just taight a lesson on the dangers of drinking sea water with my students-- thanks for posting. I showed them a clip on a reverse osmosis filter and it can also be used to filter urine as well-- which is a necessity for astronauts. :)
I had a Reverse Osmosis filter in my home for drinking water and it really worked. I have a little elec water tester I use for small filters to test drinking water, and it always tested great. this unit looks great, but well over my review budget.. lol
That is a Neat filter. Too bad its so much money. I do not like Katadyn though I have had two of their "Hiker" pumps break on me with light usage. Still a good idea.
@davidsquall351 Yes, I have used gravity water filters and various hand pump models whilst hiking, Katadyn was NOT my favorite choice for a hiking pump, however the Katadyn Reverse Osmosis was the most affordable model I have come across thus far.
she's alive the bears didnt eat her ....reverse osmo ...??? you mite wanta pick that up if you live by the ocean or salt lake city? can you use the sea salt in the process ?
So its 2,500 pumps for a glass of water? How much pump force? Seems you would sweat more than that using the pump.

How much water can it produce before the self-cleaning filter dies? I'm assuming the filter doesn't self-clean indefinitely?

@MrEinZwei emergencies for people who make translatlantic voyages in one of their big fucking expensive yachts.
which is about 0.00001% of the audience.
Whisper6911 1 year ago
Have you tried boiling salt water in a can and putting a rag on top and ringing it out?
Do you get much water that way ?
mwillblade 1 year ago
@MrEinZwei my life will never depend on a reverse osmosis system.
especially not on a seaworthy vessel wich has a mandatory large water tank.
besides lets not pretend the job cant be done cheaper.
hell it can be done with fire, a pot and a wok, all of which tend to be present on any seaworthy vessel.
Whisper6911 1 year ago
$900??? are u crasy?
when did this become a show millionaires at sea?
heres a suggestion:
start by assuming most of us don't own boats, and work from there...
if i had the kind of money where i would spend $900 on a water filter i would be paying people to watch this for me.

That's about 5 drops or water a second.
Alternative would be an inflatable solar still.
