I thought she was a good teacher, he just needs practice and that's what he's getting as well he's getting support. Really, if he's going to get better it will ultimately come from him practicing and putting in the time. Another thing, she was aware of what was going on, but I guess it's easier to be a keyboard teacher than one that actually goes out and actually teaches.

when she said you wanna make sure that blocker is covering the 5hole, isnt that defeating the purpose of butterfly? the 2 front top ends of the pads should meet so you dont have to worry about covering the 5hole with your blocker. Anyway, A in looks, D- in teaching

@every moron it is called paddle down, not blocker down. It is made for in tight shots, like 2 feet away. If you use it on point shots, breakaways, slot shots, obviously you're going to get scored on. But if you use it right it will be useful. This re-occuring problem of getting scored on in the paddle down position is a direct result of not knowing what the hell you're doing

But Brodeur isn't a butterfly goalie. He uses the half butterfly, and that's pretty much it. The butterfly stance is efficient, and that's why it is being taught on younger people even despite them not being very big. Manny Legace is only 5'9" and plays butterfly.

There's nothing wrong with it if you use it correctly. But for a shot out in front from say the high slot for example it wouldn't be very wise to go with that because your blocker side would be wide open. The paddle down makes you vulnerable to high shots. For wrap arounds it's a good choice though. For screens it can be useful too. Butterfly saves are good because you can react and block shots, and recover quickly. You can cover the bottom of the net, as well as the top.
