  • In think you guys have aleady said it all...perfection, absolutely brilliant.

  • Clempson has been my favourite gutarist since he put his own stamp on Humble Pie, my favourite band of all time. I saw him live many times in the Pie. As a rock guitarist, he is so fluent it is untrue. It's quite right, he is greatly overlooked. Still no post as to which DVD (or CD?) this can be found on. Any help?

  • @bordonbert It's from Colosseum's "The Complete Reunion Concert Cologne 1994" DVD. The whole thing is great and I urge everyone with an interest in this type of music to hunt it down and buy it.

  • just stunning !

  • I'm getting this dvd now! that was fantastic

  • fantastic!!!

  • yes, this is the Music

  • Can anyone tell me the name of the DVD this taken from, please? Cheers.

    És megnyugszom.

  • excellent a connaitre.... merci @@@@

  • VALENTINE SUITE c'est un titre d'anthologie porté ici à son paroxysme grâce au solo de Clem Clempson ! 20 / 20

  • Simply fantastic !!!!!

  • One of he best bands that ever existed. I always thought that Clem Clemson is as good a guitar player as Eric Clapton. He just didn´t go commercial. The guitar solo on the Absolutely Live version of Lost Angeles is probably the best guitar solo I ever heard. Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ME TOO , FUCKIN AMAZIN.

  • FUCKSAKE!!!!!

  • wow aaawwweeesome :o !!!

  • Keyboard player reminds me of Benny Hill. He's good though.

  • First time I've listened to him outside of the Pie. Damn, he's good.

  • Check out the young Clem's solo on "This worried feeling" from the Bakerloo album.

    Truly jaw droppingly amazing.

  • Top that,stepchild!

  • Underrated, underappreciated, underreported, undercovered..........

One of the best guitarists ever lived.

BTW, is that Jay Leno on the bass?

  • is that dave greenslade on keys?

  • what a trip!!!!!

  • Truly Jaw Dropping !!

  • In Jack Bruce's biography (by Harry Shapiro) he describes Clem Clemson as one of his favourite ever guitarists - and he has played with one or two ;-)

  • Simply wonderful.....

  • THANK YOU

  • Where have you been man?!

  • colosseum is so amazing!

  • wow!

  • clemson and a lespaul is all it takes to build a great solo!

  • I saw Clempson several times with different bands. But this knocks me out. Sartriania or Vai could learn from this to play fast and SAY something with the guitar at the same time.

  • Amazing one of the truly unsung guitrists of the past 20 years, from Humble Pie through the Jack Bruce era, so good, thanks Clem keep rocking and come down to Australia sometime. Ray

  • Jesus, I certainly knew Clempson, but this is GREAT! - I must confess I did underrate him.

  • malmsteen, eat your heart out, this is true talent!!!!

  • Masterpiece!

  • superb perform.

  • Check Bakerloo, awesome guitar work by Clempson

  • God, this is an amzing storm of sounds becoming from one of the most intelligent guitarist in this Earth. I love this music very much. Those sounds are coming out of the brain, soul and heart. Still can't find words to describe how deep is the experience of listening to the Colosseum. In history of rock music never happened to find greater impulse to fans of good music. It is simply fabulous. Listen, listen and listen...

  • You are ABSOLUTELY right my friend

  • goosebumps

  • First came across Clem in Bakerloo when I was in the CKREED in 1969, pleasure to be opener for them, GREAT PLAYER STILL !!!

  • @progist

Saturday night wasn't Saturday night without Ckreed at the Builders Club.

I remember the night Bakerloo played, went out on the following monday and bought the album at Woolworths.

  • Clem...this...Clint Eastwood of all guitar players !!!

  • ooka ooka - clempson is downright scary...

I'd love it!!! Clem is fabulous guitarist and the music is really from the other palnete.

  • WOW! Why haven't I heard of this guy before?!?!?!

  • colosseum is the best

  • Never heard anything like this. And I'm 61!

  • @kristenthomsen

never too late to hear the miracle

  • now thats some fuckin music

  • wow, great skills and what a power in the music!

  • I'm having a great time by watching this.

    Tks 4 posting. 5*****

  • wow, great tasty solo... *thumbs up*

  • Clem Clempson is so technically accomplished, what a shame he just lost to Tomy Bolin to succeed Blackmore in DP, who knows what happened otherwise.

  • Uncomparable to anything that exists, Clem is from the other world, also lets not forget that rest of Colosseum is extreme quality also!

  • That's talent.

  • Yes! Clempson is much more better than Clapton. Clempson is like Peter Green a real awsome Bluesman.

  • I totally agree ;)

  • This is awesome!

  • if you like this guys sound check all the hUMBLE PIE he played on , all wicked,,

  • totally underated ,, true player.,.

  • I remember Clem as a youngster in Bakerloo(Blues Line)- an amazing much underrated guitarist. In my opinion a greater guitar god than Clapton ever was - master of so many styles - I remember seeing him duelling with Tonu Iommi in 1969 at the Marquee - amazing.

  • Is this the same Clem Clempson that replaced Peter Frampton in Humble Pie.

If so - and I think it has to be -

    cool.

  • CLEMPSON IS GOD

  • IMHO this is even better than the original and is absolutely sensational, I'm breathless, lost for words, and it's terrific quality video and sound, thank you polperro!

  • You're welcome, Aspivenin.

You're in good company, as Hiseman says, in an interview on the DVD, that he thinks the reformed band were playing better than the original. Given the superb playing on Colosseum Live, that's saying something. The DVD is tremendous all the way through. I thoroughly recommend it.

Thanks also to everyone else who has commented.

It is a bit special, isn't it?

  • my favorite guitarsolo! i first heard about clempson and coloseum through this video, and i became an instant clempson fan. the feel, the technique, the tone.... its just perfect

  • Good Lord, some of the best playing I have ever heard!

  • Check out a tune called 'Downhill and Shadows' from Colosseum's 'Daughter Of Time' album. Dave plays the most tasty electric blues I've ever heard. His tone is drop-dead awesome. I've been listening to that tune for more than 30 years and it still amazes me. Well done, Dave!

  • Clem is a truly great guitarist, thanks for this posting.Check out his solo on the I Wonder track from the Pie's Smokin' album.

  • does he played the solo in sweet poison by cozy powell?

  • great talent. thanks for upload.

  • I remember him from the Humble Pie days, wonderful player, very understated...

  • Great guitarist. Great Band. Check out Clem's guitar solo on Lost Angeles off Colosseum Live.

  • one of the fastest les paul players i've ever seen

  • Yet another case of a Gibson Les Paul in the right hands.

  • Damn, that was awesome!

  • G R E A T

    Thank you !

  • Brilliant.

  • Certainly touches a few nerve endings.

  • I'm awestruck!! Wow! Awesome. Just,awesome...

  • And I was lucky to see them live in 72...great band, glad others agree!

  • The Valentyne suite is the Best Jazzrocksong that ever is played,I think. Not only because of that final sequence by Clem. They are not from this world!Join it!

  • that's the same Les Paul he used to play with Humble Pie...:-)

  • I'm stunned! This is fantastic. Obviously deserves more recognition. I just came from a Humble Pie video to this. He's good there too, but this is on a level with anybody.

  • jesus christ.. I got here the same way trinity...I can see how he got the job with the Pie...but jesus...30 years later as far as I'm concerned he's up there with the greats...this is unbelievable...I want to go see him play...

  • He was at his best with Colosseum, in my view. They gave him freedom to play, and that seems to bring out the best in him. This is from the excellent Colosseum reunion DVD "Colosseum Lives". It's well worth getting.

  • oh I will get it polperro...but your post implies that they are no longer together?

  • The reunion is still going. They toured Europe earlier in 2007.

  • @polperro

damn, it would be good if they hit Australia. I have the DVD and also recoment it ...just can't get enough....words fail!

  • not exactly the spot club but maybe clem will return one day to play tamworth asembly rooms, "in my dreams" Excellent!!!!!!

  • and maybe with Terry Poole (also from tamworth) on bass as in his original band Bakerloo ...

  • David dont forget your old friends !! hehe send me your old guitarr u have in wardrobe

  • Just to think that my father used to tell me that "these pop groups you like son can't play"....shame he died before I could take him to see Farlowe and the boys at the Royal Albert Hall...

  • Beautiful. Dave Clempson is God

  • I have had the pleasure of watching these guys way back at a live concert in Jazz Bilzen in Belgium way back in time!!! I think around 1971!! Awesome!!!

  • Great solo from the legendary Dave "Clem" Clempson! This guy is a great blues player and anyone enjoying Daves playing ought to get hold of the "Bakerloo" album from 1969 which has some superb stuff on it.Thanks for the vid!

  • i agree,the Bakerloo LP is awesome!

  • Glad you've got it!!..or heard it...it's just one of those "undiscovered" gems I think?!
