"Starts with tobacco, sip of beer and marijuana, and that's the culprit". Really, not the tobacco or alcohol? So quick to blame, instead of the some underlying mental disorder like addiction or possibly family problems.
False deductive reasoning. By that argument perhaps mothers milk is a gateway substance. All the drug users I know were weened on breast milk so therefore breast milk must be a gateway substance and should be controlled by the DEA. Where is the science that support these claims that cannabis use leads to harmful drug use? How convenient for mothers to have drugs to blame for their kids rebellion. So their responses couldn't possible be a reaction your lack of nurturing love and devotion?
Ignorance is drug prohibition. Education is the cure. In America we like the concept of Free and open society, yet we are far from that. True Freedom is where the individual is not shackled by his government and freely lives as a human.
Governments are supposed to enable freedom and get out of the way of the free, and protect the freedom of those they server. Somewhere big business with lobbyist took control of the government with campaign financing.
I watched this film and people need to realize that the fundamental issue here is people's constitutional right to consume what they want in a responsible fashion. The federal government's tactics and Laws against marijuana are fascist and come straight from the Gestapo. the real crime here is throwing someone in jail for using a medicine which helps them. The federal government Has no human compassion for the Sick and dying which is not only evil but a fundamental violation of Human rights.
@stopevil Thank you for your thoughtful comments. Unfortunately, it is not just medicinal cannabis that the government is attempting to control. The same government officials and their allies want to pasteurize or irradiate all fresh natural fruits, vegetables, dairy and meats. These are the same folks that want to control women's bodies. It is time we, the people, have control over what we put in our bodies and how we choose to live our lives. Jed Riffe, Filmmaker, Waiting to Inhale
@jedriffe , it's an honor to meet you. I use marjuana to help me with my night time anxiety and sleep problems. It does wonders for me but i cant stand having to sneak around to do it. not to mention the endless stereotypes your surrounded with about people who smoke marijuana. i would much rather just smoke a bowl before bed then take a pill any night.
ALL DEA AGENTS NEED TO VIEW THIS AND ADMIT NOW THAT EVERY THING THE GOVERMENT SAID ABOUT MARIJUANA SINCE THE 30S WAS A LIE AND THAT IT IS A 100% FACT MAY I REPAT 100% FACT THAT IT IS SAFER THEN DRINKING AND THEY SAY MARIJUANA HAS NO MEDCINE BENFITS THATS A 100% LIE ALTHOUGHT PEOPLE TAKE ADVANATGE OF IT
@FreshAsHell It's an addiction, it takes without giving back, it supports terror around the world. It turn children into mindless thinkers and is the cause of 90% of other drug use because of the culture you get around doing it. It supports drug gangs both in our cities and Mexico. It is additive and this is coming from an old pot head, I smoked when it was fun and safe, now it's an over priced addiction just like coke meth and Heroin. that's why I quite smoking, is more addictive today for sure
@INTERINVESTCHANNEL1 , and I'm sure that the federal government who says it supports terror is a credible source of information? The federal government lied to the American people about Vietnam and 99% of politicians are liars and violators of the Constitution. Remember Prohibition in the 30s? Prohibition created terrorists, Capone, etc. when Prohibition ended so did the black-market violence. I can't believe people actually believe the federal government to be a credible source.
@INTERINVESTCHANNEL1 , but you're missing the bigger issue, the fundamental issue is every human being has the right to consume alcohol and destroy themselves if they want to As long as they do not hurt anyone else in the process. The Constitution guarantees Our right to consume what we want in a responsible fashion. Not only are our current marijuana laws fascist but they are a miserable failure. Use the money to stop pedophiles and other violent psychopaths.
"that lady" is an MS patient who uses a significant amount of cannabis to treat the pain and spasticity of the disease. High quality medical grade cannabis allows her to NOT use dangerous drugs like Vicodin and Valium which knock her out.
It's always about the money. if the government legalizes marijuana anyone could grow it for their own medical use at no cost with no side effects. How does that protect the corporations who sell so called real drugs. The only thing the government and the corporations will approve are controlled substances. Controlled meaning you can't make them or grow them and that is how they protect their bottom line. Follow the money back to see who is benefiting the most. It's seldom the ones who need it.
People are missing the point of this documentary. It's got nothing to do with legalizing weed for recreational purposes - this is about those who need it for medical purposes. I'm an avid smoker of weed, but I'd rather take it one step at a time and legalize it for the more important purpose: Helping those who are ill.
I hate dicks saying "legalize weed, it's for medical purposes' as a cover for wanting to use it recreationally. Sorry, but that's incredibly selfish. One step at a time, folks.
@TalonWolf Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the point of our documentary WAITING TO INHALE: MARIJUANA, MEDICINE AND THE LAW. As the title of the film suggests it is about the struggle seriously ill patients have securing the medicine they need. Even today after 15 states have approved its use for medicinal purposes, most patients do not have access to a safe supply of high quality, medical grade cannabis at a reasonable price.
That's my point: Get it legalised for medicinal use first, and ASAP. Every supporter of weed should have that as their primary concern and bring it to the forefront of their argument in legalising weed. It's both the most important aspect of weed's abilities as well as the most moral. Once that's done, then they may choose to demand it for recreational/ritualistic purposes if they choose to.
Demanding it for any other reason before this is downright selfish.
@TalonWolf i want them to legalize marijuana so i can smoke a few bowls, chill with my friends and just shoot the shit. sort of like drinking a beer in a bar watching a sports game. ya feel me? nothing selfish bout that. i understand your point, and where you are coming from, but we all deserve the right to smoke herb.
@TheMoncibaiz Damn right man, I feel the exact same way. But legalising it for everyone will take longer than legalising it for medicinal use, the latter being by far the more important. Not to mention it's easier to legalise for medicinal use. It's unfortunate that people have the mindset today that weed is a dangerous drug, often considered 'as bad as heroin', but that's how it is. People will oppose medicinal use because of people will think us 'junkies' will get our hands on it easier (cont)
@TheMoncibaiz But if it is legalised for medicinal use, people will slowly begin to realise that there's next to no risk in taking it, therefore making it easier to legalise for recreational use. It sucks it has to go this way, but I believe it's the only way. Better to make sure lives are saved first, though, before we attempt to change the mindset of the average person into believing weed is actually a harmless, enjoyable almost risk-free ritualistic/spiritual/recreational tool.
@TalonWolf Now i totally get what your saying and i am on the same page. If we can get it medically legalized then ide be so happy but the fact that its illegal atall disgusts me. This is a plant from the earth that has so many benifits that you'de have to write a book to explain them all. Not only is it medically benifitial but it makes you feel great (recreational use point of view) it is the plant of peace. When your with a group of friends passing around a joint or a few bowls your happy
@TalonWolf (continued) My point is that why should a plant with all of these benefits be illegal. What was the world thinking when they passed that law. the government tried so long to evilize this plant and it worked and now so many people are suffering when they could be treated and because why? because you cant make money off of somthing when all you need to make it is a seed, dirt, water and a little sunshine. its disgusting to say the least.
@TheStonedZombie Aye. I've never seen someone stoned start a fight, and the ritualism of passing a spliff is fantastic. Weed was made illegal because hemp would have destroyed so many companies - paper, clothing, oil etc. So they basically used the cannabis smoking Mexicans and Negroes as firing posts for anti-cannabis propaganda, so that people would think the plant was 'evil'. It's a lot more fucked up than simply making it illegal because they don't understand its uses. Absoloute disgrace.
@TheStonedZombie (cont.) If 7% of America's land was used to cultivate cannabis, it could power the entire country with the extracts of its oil. Of course, 7% is a lot of space but it doesn't mean you have to use all of it. Plus cannabis is what it's called - a weed. It can grow practically anywhere. The paper it can make is far superior to the paper we use from trees. Clothes made from it are much more durable than synthetics. Not to mention cheaper.
@TheStonedZombie (cont.) It's jsut a shame that what began as simple greed turned into a mass warped mindset thanks to anti-drug propaganda, which has made it a lot more difficult to legalise it even for a 100% pure good reason - to help those in dire need. But that mindset is changing, so hopefully it shouldn't be too long before it's aiding those with cancer, muscle problems, bone problems, respiration problems and so on... When the oil runs dry, however, you can guarantee its existence.
@TalonWolf I completely agree, And its already PROVEN to cure cancer. 90g of hemp oil can cure lung cancer. the man that did this study (forgive me for not knowing his name, its late here and i cant think straight) but the man that did this study is now on the no fly list and is banned from america. its a damn shame our government back up this greedy mindset. NWo in action...
If there is a person who watches this video and doesn't think cannabis should be legal It's safe to say they have no soul. Even if you had an unfortunate accident or tragedy happen to a friend/family member because of marijuana, you can't be so heartless as to wish the same pain upon others. We are all experiencing difficult financial hardships and this plant is very cheap to grow and is organic and natural. It works miracles in peoples' lives and allows them to enjoy their lives.
Why do they have to show sympathetic users? It should be for everyone regardless. Even if you legalize it for "certain" people. Thats still segregation for those without those cases. I'm not a criminal either.
@RastafariPoet WAITING TO INHALE features "sympathetic users" because the film is about medical cannabis and seriously ill patients who can't work or grow the medicine themselves like you can. That's not segregation. i don't believe in prohibition of any drug but this film is not about recreational drug use.
I government can make so much money off of marijuana. And it help so much people just legalize it stop being such tight ass. Good gave us every seed bearing plant to use.
Whats screwed up is Im a perfectly fine member of society beside one exception, I smoke pot. I go to work pay my taxes do everything I can in life to be a good person. But this one thing that I choose to do puts me in danger from the law. I think alcohol is more damaging to society in whole than what marijuana is. Seen tons of people hurt or die or get abused cause of alcohol.
Glad you fellow Texans have finished your new film. We should exchange links. I am in Cologne, Germany to present "Waiting to Inhale: Marijuana. Medicine and the Law" at the International Association of Cannabis as a Medicine conference. Renowned AIDS researcher who did the first clinical trials approved by fed in 30 years Dr. Donald Abrams and I will be there to discuss the film with the audience after the screening.
wtf is this shit legalize this already wat the hell is the gov thinking look at how it helps the people!! terrible these people are so innocent and get put at gunpoint. terrible
Ever had someone bust in your door pointing big high powered rifles at you?
I've hunted with the same rifle that was pointed at me, it was really scary because I know what it can do and I've seen MANY accidents happen.
They don't use safetys and accidental discharges happen. People get killed by police accidentally all the time, it's very tragic but no one cares until it happens to them.
On top ove everything this is a proven medicine and it shopuld be availible to all that need it. We dont keep asprin prohibited in 35 states and 15 are ok to use. Is wroing and there are sick and dying americans suffering every single day. Thats the issue and this failed war on drugs is the problem! Let me take away your dam Zanex and make you seek medicine in the street fearing arrest and all that time needing your medicine, suffering in pain or in your depression! Yeh thats real Justice!
Do these parents not see that the problem is Prohibition! We are handing all control of these drugs over to criminals, they then Choose whom they sell to like kids, when they sell it like 3AM and where they sell like the cornner of your street!
Wouldnt it be stopping any progression of drug use by taking criminals out of the picture since they are the ones that have the harder drugs and guns and so many other goodies!
The idea behind the labeling of substances as ilegal, is to promote crime and gang activities. Whether a substance is considered legal or not, people are still going to get it and use it and abuse it. If the government wanted to control these substances, then they could regulate it and tax it, money that could be use to educate and prevent minors from abusing it.
If we regulate and tax marijuana like we do Tobacco and alcohol, with the "We Card" Program, dont you think it would be harder for kids to get it? 80% of Highschool seniors can get a bag of pot in 30min or less, however they cant do the same for alcohol or tobacco! So why can they even bring up, the kids, the kids?
I have 4 kids NO I wouldnt want them to use anything, but if they were to choose when they are of age, I would much rather my kids smoke Marijauan than use alcohol or tobacco!
The mom that says "I know over 100 mom's that lost their children to drugs" and she goes on to imply the mj is a gateway drug! I'm sorry to each parent that lost a child to drugs, but research shows mj IS NOT a gateway! I'm a dad of 2 boys and I don't want them using ANY drugs for recreational use, if they had a medical need for mj I would(100%) support their using it!!
It's the pharmaceutical lobbyist along with the greedy politicians who are keeping this illegal. I know a person on disability who takes minimum of (4) 800mg Seroquel, lexapro, klonopin, 10 mg valium, 2mg zanex and several other (16) total prescriptions DAILY; probably 5k/month on the government when she smokes a joint she doesn't need any of them. But she's not a druggie....lol..they're " legal" What a f'ing joke!
Marijuana is no more a gateway drug than is what Big Pharma is pushing. Any drug when misused can be problematic.
Used properly is can be considered a wonder drug, but it can't possibly make the same billions of dollars for the pharmaceutical industry - that is why it is still so contraversial. Follow the money and you will find the answer.
your absolutely right, it is a gateway drug, but it is an EXIT gateway to get off all the other extremely harmful drugs. REMEMBER!!!! the term GATEWAY means EXITing the world of drugs, NOT ENTERING!!!!!
i use to use it to cure my depression. i tryed so many prescribed drugs and nothing worked. only weed did. I ended up a criminal cuz the government cant stay out of my life. They arrested me at my work place!
Make sure you do your part. Fight! We all know weed is not addictive and does little to no damage to the body. People are getting addicted to pharmaceuticals which they are led to believe is safe while the government spews lies about marijuana being dangerous. Legalize it, tax it and make it safe for everyone and let's pay off this HUGE deficit our government has created.
Please act by visiting MPP's site and "ask your U.S. House member to co-sponsor this legislation"! If everyone works together we will make progress together. MPP also has a channel here on YouTube, one of their most recent videos is titled, "Barney Frank Introduces Marijuana Decriminalization Bill"! H. R. 5843
I use it both for medical and recreationl reasons. I have Lupus and Fibryomialgia and I'm only in my early 20s. I have severe pain all over my body - especially in my hips and bank, I suffer from arthritis, epidermis pain, headaches (sensitivity to light and sound), and I have to say Cannabis treats each and every one of my symptoms positively. I am currently taking NO western medicine (I take a Chinese h. herb). I am going to see this movie at the Salem Film Festival!
so? would that diminish their capability to come to a scientific conclusion, no it would no, rather give them a insight look into effects of the drug they study. you know, some US presidents did so too and still accomplish great in life. it doesn't matter if someone did or not!
Very true, its that smart alec attitude that you just replied to that is founded in so much dogma and misinformation. I wonder how long he contimplated that sentence. The proof is widely available but social norms dont die easily. The fact remains that it is misunderstood, (taboo). Its not socially exceptable for deeply longstanding, (mainly) racial reasons. Please study the term "nativism." Many parallels can be drawn here.
"Starts with tobacco, sip of beer and marijuana, and that's the culprit". Really, not the tobacco or alcohol? So quick to blame, instead of the some underlying mental disorder like addiction or possibly family problems.

Seen tons of people hurt or die or get abused cause of alcohol.

Hookahitter 2 years ago 2
Do these parents not see that the problem is Prohibition! We are handing all control of these drugs over to criminals, they then Choose whom they sell to like kids, when they sell it like 3AM and where they sell like the cornner of your street!
Wouldnt it be stopping any progression of drug use by taking criminals out of the picture since they are the ones that have the harder drugs and guns and so many other goodies!
Hookahitter 2 years ago 2
The idea behind the labeling of substances as ilegal, is to promote crime and gang activities. Whether a substance is considered legal or not, people are still going to get it and use it and abuse it. If the government wanted to control these substances, then they could regulate it and tax it, money that could be use to educate and prevent minors from abusing it.
xxXghislainXxx 2 years ago 3
If we regulate and tax marijuana like we do Tobacco and alcohol, with the "We Card" Program, dont you think it would be harder for kids to get it? 80% of Highschool seniors can get a bag of pot in 30min or less, however they cant do the same for alcohol or tobacco! So why can they even bring up, the kids, the kids?
I have 4 kids NO I wouldnt want them to use anything, but if they were to choose when they are of age, I would much rather my kids smoke Marijauan than use alcohol or tobacco!

I agree!

99minerkc 2 years ago
she mentioned tobacco and alcohol as the main triggers, which are harder and more damaging substances, yet regulated, they still remain legal

I agree with you!

But she's not a druggie....lol..they're " legal" What a f'ing joke!

marijuana is much better than prozac for me
LifeIsLife1984 3 years ago
Marijuana is no more a gateway drug than is what Big Pharma is pushing. Any drug when misused can be problematic.
Used properly is can be considered a wonder drug, but it can't possibly make the same billions of dollars for the pharmaceutical industry - that is why it is still so contraversial. Follow the money and you will find the answer.
DianeDi 3 years ago 2
your absolutely right, it is a gateway drug, but it is an EXIT gateway to get off all the other extremely harmful drugs. REMEMBER!!!! the term GATEWAY means EXITing the world of drugs, NOT ENTERING!!!!!

Hemp was a MASSIVE USA crop before the middle of last century.
It's oil could even be used to create biodegradable plastic. Better plastic than the OIL corps can make.
So big OIL Corps DEMONISED hemp, + changed its name to Marujuana to give it a Mexican sound.
Holly wood made films like REEFER Madness! To scare the hell out of people.
HEMP can make STRONG clothes, rope, medicine, OIL, houses, paper, YOU NAME IT.
HEMP RULES.
It GROWS very fast too. REinstate HEMP

i use to use it to cure my depression. i tryed so many prescribed drugs and nothing worked. only weed did. I ended up a criminal cuz the government cant stay out of my life. They arrested me at my work place!
bryce338 3 years ago
Make sure you do your part. Fight! We all know weed is not addictive and does little to no damage to the body. People are getting addicted to pharmaceuticals which they are led to believe is safe while the government spews lies about marijuana being dangerous. Legalize it, tax it and make it safe for everyone and let's pay off this HUGE deficit our government has created.

Great that people are campaigning for medical cannabis but I use it recreationally and there's nothing wrong with that either.
cookiesandcartoons 3 years ago 17
@cookiesandcartoons
