Also saw them live back in the day. Irving Plaza etc. Roman Gods lp is one of my all time faves. Still own the vinyl. Man, talk about staying power! Go Fleshtones!!
all i can think about is that show I.R.S-THE CUTTING EDGE that peter zaremba used to host. to think MTV was cool at one time. yeah that's an old person comment lol, but there was some fun to be had back then. wow is this a great rock-n-roll song.
I guess by what I see below I consider myself pretty fortunate. Spent quite a bit of time with them at their rehearsal studio in NYC. Thought their version of 1000 LB Bee was incredible. Saw them live numerous times and went to Peter Zaremba's XMAS party in 1982 - He asked me to bring a video of the the "Brainiac" - 50s scifi. Bill the drummer great guy, Gordon played a killer sax, Keith and his maniacle tremelo Marek's never ending bass. Recall Peter's fave 60's 45 by the Kissing Cousins
I loved them in 1983 when I first heard them and by God if they still don't Rock my world 25 years later, and how many bands can you say that about? Not many to be sure. God Bless the Fleshtones and hopefully some day a new generation of music fans can look back and see what a brilliant band they missed out on.
I only saw them live once in NYC in the mid-80s. I was hanging with some friends of theirs who took me to this small sort of cabaret venue. At first I was, like, oh, crap, I'm gonna have to feign enthusiasm because I'm with friends of theirs, but they ROCKED! Met them backstage and really nice, cool guys. Cheers to them wherever they may be now!
You were very fortunate to have catched them in the 80s. I'm not that lucky. However, they're still going strong. Check them out on MySpace. I think they're touring in Europe now.
Peter Zaremba is the coolest frontman dancer and harmonica/60's organ player ever to come out of the garage band scene. Great song that they don't seem to like to do anymore.
I saw the Fleshtones in 1982 and 1983 at HEAVEN a then nightclub in downtown Pittsburgh and they really RIIPPPPED!! and blew the place out as they continue to do at the 31st Street pub when they come to Pittsburgh in 2007. I really thought they would be huge because they really have the party garage vibe down better than anyone.
He's nervous but loves to hear from fans. Bring a gift basket of useful stuff for tired musicians. If you contact him in advance, I bet the band and their family members would like to meet you. After the show, they are very tired, generally, I think.
They were just about number one in NYC for at least 5 years. None of their recordings do them justice. They got burned out quickly due to the Red Star fiasco.
will always adore the tones.only reason to leave polish hill and go to 31st street

This song is awesome!
Singer's got mush-mouth though...
Anyone know where I can find the lyrics?
I searched high and low for `em.
godspeed2048 2 years ago
@godspeed2048 here's the beginning at least:
I'm living in a world but I don't know where I belong
Running through a crowd but I always gotta run alone
cause I've got to search
I'm searching every way
I keep right on searching til I push beyond the shadow line
come on and run run with me yeah
who knows what you'll see
who knows what you may find when you do it one last time
you push me on the shadow line
